Donald Leroy "Don" LaFontaine (August 26, 1940 – September 1, 2008) was an American voice actor who recorded more than 5,000 film trailers and hundreds of thousands of television advertisements, network promotions, and video game trailers.
He became identified with the phrase "In a world...", used in so many movie trailers that it became a cliché. Widely known in the film industry, the man whose nicknames included "Thunder Throat" and "The Voice of God", became known to a wider audience through commercials for GEICO insurance and the Mega Millions lottery game.
LaFontaine was born on August 26, 1940, in Duluth, Minnesota, to Alfred and Ruby LaFontaine. LaFontaine said his voice cracked at age 13 in mid-sentence, giving him the bass tones that later brought him much fame and success. After graduating from Duluth Central High School in 1958, he enlisted in the United States Army, and worked as a recording engineer for the Army Band and Chorus.
LaFontaine continued to work as a recording engineer after discharge and began working at the National Recording Studios in New York City, where, in 1962, he had the opportunity to work with producer Floyd Peterson on radio spots for Dr. Strangelove. Peterson incorporated many of LaFontaine's ideas for the spots and, in 1963, they went into business together producing advertising exclusively for the movie industry. LaFontaine claimed that this company first came up with many of the famous movie trailer catch phrases, including his own future signature phrase, "in a world..."
In a World... is a 2013 American comedy film written, directed and co-produced by Lake Bell.
The film stars Bell as Carol Solomon, a vocal coach intent on doing voice-over work for film trailers. The film co-stars Demetri Martin, Fred Melamed, Rob Corddry, Michaela Watkins, Ken Marino, Nick Offerman, and Tig Notaro.
The film was a financial success, grossing nearly $3 million on a budget of less than $1 million, and received positive reviews from critics.
Sam Sotto is a Hollywood actor who is known as "king of voice-overs". He has done the narration and voice-overs to many theatrical film trailers and films, as well as recently published an autobiography about his life and is about to receive a lifetime achievement award upon turning 60. His daughter, Carol Solomon, is a struggling vocal coach who has always been overshadowed by her father. Sam kicks Carol out of his house so that he can live with his much younger 30-year-old girlfriend Jamie (who is a year younger than Carol). Carol goes to live with her older sister Dani and her husband Moe in their small apartment.

How to Stand Out in a World Where Everyone is a Copywriter Today we're joined by everyone's favorite copywriter Demian Farnworth for an education on standing out. I blame +Copyblogger for creating valuable content on copywriting for far too long. Everything thinks they're a copywriting master _(or at least that they know enough about copywriting that they can grow their business creating content online.)_ It's hard to stand out in a world where everyone is creating content on such an epic scale. That's why I asked Demian Farnworth, the Chief Copywriter at Copyblogger, to stop by the Content Warfare Podcast and help us understand how we stand out in a world full of noise. *This is an episode you'll regret missing... so dont!* Learn more about Demian here: http://thecopybot.com/ ====...
In session 1 of the Fascinate 2016 conference, David Sliker speaks on how we find ourselves in a culture that is consumed with the love of self and that defines the value of a person by the amount they are loved and accepted. The gospel, however, calls us valuable because we are loved by God and invites us into a lifestyle where we die to ourselves in order to glorify Jesus. With this in mind, we must seek to guard ourselves against the pervasive mindsets of the culture and seek to be filled with the mind of Christ. The reality is that there is nothing you can do to get prospects to answer the phone more. But there are clear tactics that you can add to how you prospect that will help you to improve your connect rate and we will outline those in our next webinar – “How to Operate in a World Where Prospects don’t Answer the Phone” To view the full presentation and get the slides, go here https://salesscripter.com/event/how-to-operate-in-a-world-where-prospects-dont-answer-the-phone/ Get more of our tips by connecting with us on: Subscribe to our YouTube c...

Verse 1:
In a world where all girls care about is their nails
and hair
Never really paying attention to the world's health

Did you ever realize that the Earth needs us?
Destroying the world- enough is enough!
Stand out in the crowds, I'm Cymphonique and yes I'm
very unique
Chorus:
In A World with no love and 'I just robbed' sons dying
and mamma's in a sob
I know it may be hard but we can get through this
In a world where we can finally all coexist
I look up to the sky in a world where we all sigh and
wonder why
Verse 2:
We killing each other; our sisters and brother
Lying and cheating never even meeting (our number 1
goal
But today I stand her(e), as Lil Miss Swagger, telling
you to get right then you will learn!
Chorus:
In A World with no love and 'I just robbed' sons dying
and mamma's in a sob
I know it may be hard but we can get through this
In a world where we can finally all coexist
I look up to the sky in a world where we all sigh and
wonder why
Bridge:
So let the rain fall and our sins are washed
Clean and clear all of them squashed
No more sadness only just happiness
Love your race and also your face
Never ever feel down get back up from the ground! Hey!
Chorus:
In A World with no love and 'I just robbed' sons dying
and mamma's in a sob
I know it may be hard but we can get through this
In a world where we can finally all coexist
I look up to the sky in a world where we all sigh and
wonder why
