Secrets (post-hardcore band)

Secrets (stylized as SECRETS) is an American post-hardcore band from San Diego, California, formed in 2010. After being signed to Rise Records in 2011, Secrets released their debut full-length album, The Ascent, in January 2012. The record debuted at #3 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart and became the first Velocity Records release to appear on the Billboard Top 200, debuting at #185.

After going through line-up changes in 2013, the band released their second album, Fragile Figures in July. The album was a success, selling over 10,000 copies in the first month and charting at #59 on the Billboard 200 chart.

History

Formation and The Ascent (2010–2012)

Secrets was formed from ex-A City Serene members, Xander Bourgeois, Marc Koch, Joe English, and Michael Sherman. The original line up of A City Serene soon dispersed after they were involved in a serious car accident, which left one member in a coma. They reformed as Secrets in 2010, and added Richard Rogers as their clean vocalist and rhythm guitarist. The band was quickly signed to Rise Records imprint, Velocity Records. Though they initially planned to release an EP, the band went ahead with a full-length album, The Ascent. This album was produced by Tom Denney, formerly of A Day to Remember.

Secrets (Allison Crowe album)

Secrets, released in 2004 (see 2004 in music), is the second studio album released by Allison Crowe and her first full-length CD. Following the dissolution of her trio, Crowe recorded this solo, singer-songwriter, collection in Nanaimo, British Columbia. She engineered the recording and assisted with production alongside Rainer Willeke of the Victoria, Canada-based r'n'b combo, Soul Station. Performing all vocals (lead and harmonies), piano and keyboards Crowe added acoustic guitar tracks and percussive 'thumps'.

Secrets contains 'old' fan favourites (some of which are radically redefined from earlier performances), newly penned songs, and a pair of personal picks from other artists: Counting Crows' "Raining in Baltimore" ~ the first song performed by Crowe when she launched her career as a singer-songwriter in the mid-'90s; and "Joan of Arc", a poem song from the pen of Leonard Cohen.

Secrets (1924 film)

Secrets is a 1924 silent film directed by Frank Borzage. The film is based upon a 1922 play of the same name, and was remade in 1933 with Mary Pickford in the leading role. Although the film was never released on video or DVD, copies still exist.

Plot

The films opens in present. 75-year-old Mary Carlton is depressed over her husband John's illness. She feels her life has no use if he dies. She starts reading her diary, after which the film jumps to 1865 in the time she fell in love with John. She feels she has to hide her love for her strict mother, fearing she will disapprove because of their social class differences. Mary lives within the very wealthy Marlowe family and grows up to be a lady with manners, while John is a working class employee.

When her parents find out about the affair, they are outrageous. They forbid her from ever seeing John again. However, Mary tells them she only loves John and will never marry anybody if she can't see him anymore. Her father William locks her into her own room until she stops being a rebel. Meanwhile, she receives a letter from John, who announces he has been fired over their love affair. Later that night, John sneaks into her room by the balcony and announces he will leave for America. Despite knowing her parents won't ever talk to her again, she decides to go with him.

Tamara (given name)

Tamara is a female given name most commonly derived from the Biblical name "Tamar", meaning date palm tree. In eastern European countries like Georgia, Macedonia, Russia, Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Poland, and the Czech Republic it has been a common name for centuries. In Australia it was very popular from the 1960s to 1990s.

In the United States, the name was fairly common from the late 1950s to mid 1990s, bolstered by the popularity of the film Tammy and the Bachelor (Tammy is commonly a nickname for Tamara). In the US the most girls named Tamara were born in 1970 and the number of Tamaras born per year was greater than 1,000 as late as 1996.

The name is now fairly uncommon in the US: in 2010, the name fell off the Top 1000 SSA Baby Names list, with fewer than 250 baby girls named Tamara that year.

In ancient Britain, Tamara was the goddess of rivers and streams. The River Tamar that forms the border between Devon and Cornwall derives its name from this spirit.

List of Princess Gwenevere and the Jewel Riders characters

The following is the list of principal fictional characters from the children's animated series Princess Gwenevere and the Jewel Riders (also known as Starla & the Jewel Riders outside of North America). The series follows the quest of a young princess of Avalon, Gwenevere (Starla), and her friends, Fallon and Tamara, to find and secure the scattered enchanted jewels and thus stop the evil Lady Kale from taking over the kingdom, restore harmony in magic, and bring the banished wizard Merlin home. In the second season, the Jewel Riders receive more powers and new costumes to battle Kale and the mighty Morgana for more magical jewels that too need to be kept out the grasp of dark forces.

The titular trio of teenage Jewels Riders consist of Gwenevere / Starla (voiced by Kerry Butler in the first season and Jean Louisa Kelly in the second season), whose Special Friend is the winged unicorn Sunstar (Deborah Allison), and her friends: Fallon (Allison), riding Moondance the unicorn (Barbara Jean Kearney), and Tamara (Laura Dean), who in the second season gets the "zebracorn" Shadowsong (Henry Mandell). Each of their Jewels has different magical abilities and their own colors and corresponding gemstones of various powers, also allowing them to communicate with their animals.

Tamara (2005 film)

Tamara is a 2005 Canadian-American horror film, released only in select theatres by City Lights Pictures, a Manhattan-based production company.

Plot

Tamara Riley is a shy and unattractive but intelligent girl who likes witchcraft and has a crush on Bill Natolly, her handsome English teacher. When a critical article she writes about the school's athletes is published, two of the star athletes, Shawn and Patrick, want revenge. Tamara attempts to perform a magical ritual to bind her fate to that of her teacher, but when she must spill her own blood she ceases the ritual. That night, a prank is orchestrated by Shawn and Patrick, along with Shawn's girlfriend Kisha. Shawn calls Tamara, impersonating Mr. Natolly, and invites her to a motel room. A video camera is placed there and catches Tamara undressing. Shawn, Patrick, and Kisha watch this, along with three others who did not know about the prank (Chloe, Jesse, and Roger). Shawn comes in and taunts Tamara, and Tamara is accidentally killed in a struggle. Despite Chloe's demands that they inform the police, she is blackmailed into helping bury Tamara. However, they are shocked when Tamara walks into class, looking more attractive than ever before. They convince themselves that she was only unconscious and dug her way out of the ground. That night, while Roger is watching a movie in the school AV room, the image on the screen suddenly changes to the video of Tamara's murder.
