StudioMDHR's first game, Cuphead, has been delayed until 2017.
There's a good chance you haven't come across the title before; MDHR is a small studio of two brothers, but Cuphead looks like nothing else on the market. A sublime 1930s animation style inspired by the likes of Popeye and Mickey Mouse is brought together with 2D shooting and platforming.
The result is unique, arresting, and has us keen to get it on our console ASAP.
From what we've played so far, don't let the cutesy looks fool you, because this sidescroller is as tough as they get.
The game was initially slated for a late 2016 release but for some reason MDHR has moved Cuphead's launch to the middle of next year. The news was announced in a post on the studio's blog.
"Throughout this year we discussed reducing the scope to make a 2016 release, but we made the difficult decision to delay the launch in order to ship with our vision intact. We are happy to announce that Cuphead will be coming to Xbox One, Windows 10 and Steam in Mid-2017."
More information about the game is available in this delightful interview between MDHR and Warren Spector, the director of Epic Mickey and Deus Ex.
