Yma Sumac (/ˈiːmə ˈsuːmæk/; September 13, 1922 or September 10, 1923 – November 1, 2008), also called Yma Súmac, was a Peruvian-American soprano. In the 1950s, she was one of the most famous proponents of exotica music.
Sumac became an international success based on her extreme vocal range, which was said to be "well over five octaves" or otherwise was claimed to span over five octaves, at the peak of her singing career. Sumac recorded an extraordinarily wide vocal range of 5 octaves, 3 notes and a semitone ranging from E2 to B♭7 (approximately 107 Hz to 3.7 kHz). In one live recording of "Chuncho", she sings a range of over four and a half octaves, from B1 to F#7. She was able to sing notes in the low baritone register as well as notes above the range of an ordinary soprano & notes in the Whistle Register. Both low and high extremes can be heard in the song Chuncho (The Forest Creatures) (1953). She was also apparently able to sing in an eerie "double voice".
"Papa Loves Mambo" is a popular song written by Al Hoffman, Dick Manning, and Bix Reichner and published in 1954.
The best-known version was recorded by Perry Como with Mitchell Ayres's orchestra in New York City on August 31, 1954. The song was released by RCA Victor Records as catalog number 20-5857 (i USA) and by EMI on the His Master's Voice label as catalog number B 10776. The US release peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard chart in that same year. The song was covered by singers Nat King Cole, Johnnie Ray, Renato Carosone, Gisele MacKenzie, Stuart Foster, Grandpa Jones & Minnie Pearl and Russell Arms.

Pierino Ronald "Perry" Como (May 18, 1912 – May 12, 2001) was an American singer and television personality. During a career spanning more than half a century, he recorded exclusively for RCA Victor for 44 years after signing with the label in 1943. "Mr. C.", as he was nicknamed, sold millions of records for RCA and pioneered a weekly musical variety television show, which set the standards for the genre and proved to be one of the most successful in television history. Como was seen weekly on television from 1949 to 1963, then continued hosting the Kraft Music Hall variety program monthly until 1967. His television shows and seasonal specials were broadcast throughout the world. Also a popular recording artist, Perry Como produced numerous hit records; his combined success on television and popular recordings was not matched by any other artist of the time. Como's appeal spanned generations and he was widely respected for both his professional standards and the conduct in his personal life. In the official RCA Records Billboard magazine memorial, his life was summed up in these few words: "50 years of music and a life well lived. An example to all." Composer Ervin Drake said of him, "... [o]ccasionally someone like Perry comes along and won't 'go with the flow' and still prevails in spite of all the bankrupt others who surround him and importune him to yield to their values. Only occasionally."
Mambo is a film written and directed in 1952 to 1953 Robert Rossen and released in 1955. A mambo craze spread through the USA in the 1950s, and Rossen aimed to repairing his finances after almost two years without work since his 1951 House Un-American Activities Committee hearing. The plot : The film stars Silvana Mangano as Giovanna Masetti, a poor Venetian who is admired by the crafty croupier Mario Rossi (Vittorio Gassman) and the rich count Enrico Marisoni (Michael Rennie). Giovanna lives out a dream to become a dancer and moves to Rome. Returning 6 months later to the competing affections of Mario and Enrico, resulting in a choice between the two and the dramatic finale.

Mambo! is the fifth studio album by Peruvian soprano Yma Sumac. It was released on 1954 by Capitol Records. It was entirely composed by Moisés Vivanco. Yma Sumac (September 13, 1922 - November 1, 2008) was a noted Peruvian singer. In the 1950s, she was one of the most famous proponents of exotica music. She became an international success based on her extreme vocal range, which was said to be "well over four octaves" and was sometimes claimed to span even five octaves at her peak. Stories published in the 1950s claimed that she was an Incan princess, directly descended from Atahualpa. Her New York Times obituary reported that "the largest and most persistent fabrication about Ms. Sumac was that she was actually a housewife from Brooklyn named Amy Camus, her name spelled backward. Rosemary Clooney - Mambo Italiano Rosemary Clooney (May 23, 1928 -- June 29, 2002) was an American singer and actress. She came to prominence in the early 1950s with the novelty hit "Come On-a My House" written by William Saroyan and his cousin Ross Bagdasarian (David Seville), which was followed by other pop numbers such as "Botch-a-Me" (a cover version of the Italian song Ba-Ba-Baciami Piccina by Alberto Rabagliati), "Mambo Italiano", "Tenderly", "Half as Much", "Hey There" and "This Ole House", though she would go on to success as a jazz vocalist. Clooney's career languished in the 1960s, partly due to problems related to depression and drug addiction, but revived in 1974, when her White Christmas co-star Bing Crosby asked her to appear with him at a show marking his 50th annivers...

"Mambo Italiano" is a popular song written by Bob Merrill in 1954 and recorded by Rosemary Clooney. Merrill actually wrote it on deadline, scribbled hastily on a paper napkin in an Italian restaurant in New York, United States using the wall pay-phone to dictate the melody, rhythm and lyrics to the recording studio pianist, under the aegis of conductor Mitch Miller. The song became a hit for Rosemary, reaching #10 on the charts in the United States and number one in the UK Singles Chart early in 1955. The original record was produced by Mitch Miller. Papa Loves Mambo (Hoffman-Manning-Reichner) by Perry Como, orchestra conducted by Mitchell Ayres, with the Ray Charles Singers (CD audio source) The mid-decade mambo craze was picking up steam in late 1954 with such titles as "St. Louis Blues Mambo" "They Were Doin' The Mambo" "Mambo Italiano" and countless mambo-beat instrumental recordings. Reaching #4 on the record charts, this Perry Como autumn novelty topped them all. 1954 had earlier brought us Perry's #1 hit "Wanted" and would end with his famous Christmastime tune "(There's No Place Like) Home For The Holidays" (also posted). After a three-year stint with the George Shearing Quintet, vibist/percussionist Cal Tjader--by 1954 quite enamored of the Latin sounds in jazz--returned to his native San Francisco and established himself as one of the city's permanent jazz representatives. Almost in celebration of this "homecoming," Tjader indulged in a number of Fantasy record sessions in September of 1954 (and February 1956), including more than 20 sides (three-minute, 78-RPM singles) with an S.F.-based Latin rhythm section. The selections on this LP, then, are among the first to establish Tjader as the 1950s grand master of Latin jazz, Latin pop, Latin soul. Combined with Mambo with Tjader, this album provides a complete cross section of the first roots of the Tjader Latin jazz experience (Blog) Scarce FANTASY 12" 3 2...

READ THIS. I hesitated to put this on Youtube. I talked this over with mrs. Sumac's personal assistent. As you can see he commented on one of the clips. In no way i want to make fun of mrs. Sumac. But it is a curiousity and it shows her 20.000 years old temper..... And if she is shown no respect, she is absolutely right.

Yma Sumac sings "Ataypura" ("High Andes") and "La Molina" in this rare French TV appearance from 1989. The wonderful John McDaniel is on piano. Frederic Mitterrand, son of the former French president, was the host.
Yma Sumac made this rare in-person signing appearance at Tower Records in Hollywood to promote the 1996 reissue of all her classic Capitol Records albums. She is interviewed by cable TV host Skip E. Lowe and then receives an awards plaque from Capitol executives at a reception in her honor.

Mambo! is the fifth studio album by Peruvian soprano Yma Sumac. The fac...

It'sa so delicious! Since this is everyone's favorite, I decided to do the whole song. This is my second time singing this song so BE-A NICE-A (and my first time singing more than half of it, and apparently I'm ok with Italian for no good reason whatsoever, which says more good about the language than me)! This is my thank you to you! And please send any donations to paypal.com, YsabellaBrave@aol.com because come on now, IF YOU GONNA BE A SQUARE YOU AINTA GONNA GO NOWHERE~ +Ysabella Brave

Bakit kaya nangangamba
Sa tuwing ika'y nakikita
Sana nama'y magpakilala
Ilang ulit nang nagkabangga
Aklat kong dala'y pinulot mo pa
'Di ka pa rin nagpakilala
REFRAIN
Bawat araw sinusundan
'Di ka naman tumitingin
Ano'ng aking dapat gawin
Bakit kaya umiiwas
Binti ko ba'y mayroong gasgas
Nais ko lang magpakilala
Dito'y mayroon sa puso ko
Munting puwang laan sa 'yo
Maaari na bang magpakilala
REFRAIN
Bawat araw sinusundan
'Di ka naman tumitingin
Ano'ng aking dapat gawin
CHORUS
