What is a MOBA?
Multiplayer Online Battle Arenas, or MOBAs for short, originated as a sub-genre of the RTS (Real-Time Strategy) genre. Because of this, in most MOBA games, the player takes control of a single character from the isometric (top-down) view akin to most RTS games. Typically, in MOBA games, a player takes control of a single character on one of two teams. Those players choose characters that all have their own abilities, or “kits”. To win, the players must use a combination of abilities, teamwork, and strategy to not only best their opponent, but destroy the opponents main structures. A bonus to the genre is that most MOBAs are free games, which is definitely a contributing factor of the their massive success. The genre has many titles, the largest of which being Defense of the Ancients (DoTA) and DoTA 2, League of Legends (LoL), and most recently SMITE!
What is SMITE?
SMITE is one of the more recent free MOBA games to enter the fray. In SMITE you don’t just choose a character, you choose a god. You’ll instantly feel an attachment to characters like Thor and Zeus because even if you don’t know the lore behind them, you’ve at least heard their names before! What makes SMITE so immersive is Hi-Rez Studios’ inclusion of historical lore into the gods’ abilities, kits, and play styles. Thor and Loki aren’t just characters from Marvel comics and movies. They’re also a part of Norse mythology and you can take control of them in SMITE!
What makes SMITE different?
SMITE takes all of the strategy of the top MOBA games and adds another layer of difficulty by putting you into the action! Unlike most MOBA games, SMITE offers players the chance to experience the MOBA genre they know and love from a third-person perspective. Ravana
Rāvaṇa(/ˈrɑːvənə/) is the primary antagonist in the Hindu epic Ramayana, where he is depicted as the king of Lanka. Rāvaṇa is depicted and described as having ten heads. He is described as a follower of Shiva, a great scholar, a capable ruler and a maestro of the veena, but someone who wished to overpower the devas. His ten heads represent his knowledge of the six shastras and the four Vedas. In the Ramayana, Rāvaṇa is the antagonist, kidnapping Rama's wife Sita to exact vengeance on Rama and his brother Lakshmana for having cut off the nose of his sister Shurpanakha.
Etymology
The word Ravana (Sanskrit: रावन्) means roaring opposite of Vaiśravaṇa meaning "hear distinctly" (passive). Both Ravana and Vaiśravaṇa who is popularly known as Lord Kubera are considered to be patronymics derived as sons of Vishrava.
Iconography
Ravana is depicted and described as having ten heads. Sometimes he is depicted with only nine heads because he has sacrificed a head to convince Lord Shiva. He is described as a devout follower of the god Shiva, a great scholar, a capable ruler and a maestro of the Veena. Ravana is also depicted as the author of the Ravana Samhita, a book on Hindu astrology and book Arka Prakasham; book on Siddha medicine and treatment . Ravana possessed a thorough knowledge of Siddha,"The Oldest traditional treatment system" and political science. He is said to have possessed the nectar of immortality, which was stored inside his belly, thanks to a celestial boon by Brahma.

Plot: Ravana, the great asura lord of Lanka and a devotee of Siva, is asked by his mother to bring her the sacred "Atmalinga" from Kailash so that she may pray to it daily. Ravana does extreme penance to Siva in order to obtain it. The demigod Indra is scared that the asura king will obtain supreme power along with the Atmalinga and he asks the itinerant sage Narada to ruin Ravana's plan. Ravana is tricked into asking for Siva's consort the goddess Parvati. In the meantime, Mandodari the beautiful princess of the underworld falls in love with Ravana and woos him. When Ravana realises the trick played upon him and the great sin he had committed in lusting after the mother-goddess Parvati, he does penance again and cuts off his own head in repentance. Pleased, Lord Siva expiates his sin and grants him the Atmalinga. Ravana also gets to marry his true love Mandodari and all seems well. But there is a fiat that the Atmalinga should never rest on the earth until it reaches Lanka or else it will take root and become immovable. As Ravana journeys to the south along with Mandodari and the Atmalinga, he is again tricked by Ganesha under Narada's direction into letting it rest on the sea shore at Gokarna. It takes root all the way into the underworld, and this site becomes the famous Mahabaleswara Temple.

What makes SMITE so immersive is Hi-Rez Studios’ inclusion of historical lore into the gods’ abilities, kits, and play styles. Thor and Loki aren’t just characters from Marvel comics and movies. They’re also a part of Norse mythology and you can take control of them in SMITE!
