The Tuul River or Tula River (Mongolian: Туул гол, Chinese: 土拉河; pinyin: Tǔlā Hé; in older sources also Tola) is a river in central and northern Mongolia. Sacred to the Mongols, the Tuul is generally called the Khatan (Queen) Tuul in Mongolian. It is 704 km long and drains an area 49,840 square km. The river is called the "Duluo river" in the Book of Sui, a Chinese historical work completed in 636 AD. The Secret History of the Mongols (1240 AD) frequently mentions a "Black Forest of the Tuul River" where the palace of Wang Khan was located. The Ming dynasty (1368–1644) was established by the progressive expulsion of the Mongol Empire from China. After capturing Beijing, the Ming's founding Hongwu Emperor defeated the Mongols at the Tula River in 1372, driving them back to the Orhon River. The following Hongwu Emperor would find it necessary to defeat the Oirats at the river Tula again in 1414.
The river originates in the Khan-Khentein-Nuruu Nature Reserve in the Khentii Mountains, in the Erdene sum of Töv aimag. From there it travels southwest until it reaches the territory of Ulaanbaatar. Its water runs through the southern part of the capital, continuing in western direction in large loops. When it meets the border of Bulgan aimag it turns north, running along that border. After it enters Selenge aimag, it discharges into the Orkhon River near the sum center of Orkhontuul sum.

Lindistatud aprillis 2016. Said juured läbi lõigatud, mis hoidsid kinni mind. Ja peatuda nüüd võimatu - see on mu soovi hind! Olen tuul, olen tuul, ma olen tuul, olen tuul...

A beautiful day on the Tuul river near Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
Ulaanbaatar was a migrating city of tents until 1778, when the town finally settled on the Tuul River where it stands today. Today more than half the population still lives in gers in the city, and that number is growing as pastoralists abandon their nomadic lives to seek an urban lifestyle.

Ulaanbaatar is the capital and the largest city of Mongolia. It’s in the Tuul River valley, bordering the Bogd Khan Uul National Park. Originally a nomadic Buddhist center, it became a permanent site in the 18th century. Soviet control in the 20th century led to a religious purge. Soviet-era buildings, museums within surviving monasteries and a vibrant conjunction of traditional and 21st-century lifestyles typify the modern city. A federal municipality, the city is not part of any aimag, and its population as of 2014 was over 1.3 million. Located in north central Mongolia, the municipality lies at an elevation of about 1,310 metres. It is the cultural, industrial and financial heart of the country, the centre of Mongolia's road network and connected by rail to both the Trans-Siberian Rail...
Imagine canoeing on the rivers surrounded by rolling hills or drifting along the slower and faster rivers of Central Mongolia. Canoe through breathtaking landscapes such as rolling hills covered with forest, basaltic rocky areas and the large open plains where nomadic families and their cattle are settled for the summer. This is our longest trip and it will take you to another time and another space. The measured rhythm of nature, huge expanses of forest, steppe and mountains and the leisurely pace of the Mongolian nomads by the river. We will spend 14 days on the river and pass through all Mongolian landscapes except the desert: We start at the clear, deep waters of Lake Khovsgol. Here the Eg river is almost "alpine" in character and the landscape is mountainous. There is a lot of forest ...

Shhh...
