Edgar Peter Lougheed, PC CC AOE QC, (/ˈlɔːhiːd/ LAW-heed; July 26, 1928 – September 13, 2012) was a Canadian lawyer and politician. He served as the tenth Premier of Alberta from 1971 to 1985 as a Progressive Conservative.
Lougheed was the grandson of Sir James Alexander Lougheed, an early senator and prominent Alberta businessman. After a short football career he entered business and practised law in Calgary. In 1965, he was elected leader of the Progressive Conservatives, a party that at the time had no seats in the legislature. He led the party back into the legislature in the 1967 provincial election. Four years later, the Tories won power with 49 of the 75 seats in the legislature, defeating the Social Credit Party which had governed the province since the 1935 election. Lougheed established a Tory dynasty in the province that was uninterrupted until 2015 when the Alberta NDP won a majority government, the longest unbroken run in government for a provincial party in Canadian history to date. Lougheed was reelected in 1975, 1979 and 1982 provincial elections, winning landslide majorities each time.

We had the privilege of producing the memorial video for The Honourable Peter Lougheed which was shown live at his State Funeral Service on September 21, 2012. We had very little time to gather all the archive content for this production, and our team worked around the clock to get it done in time for the ceremony. It was an honour to be a part of sharing Mr. Lougheed's legacy and accomplishments. Visit our website for more about our company: www.urbanrevolver.com

In June 2013 heavy rain filled the meadow behind the Peter Lougheed Provincial Park Visitor Information Centre, forcing it to be closed due to structural damage. Over the course of four and a half months, the meadow slowly drained, and was re-opened in November 2013. The whole process was captured on our VIC webcam, and we put it together as a symbol of nature's power of rejuvenation and recovery. Joe Clark, Canada's 16th prime minister, was one of three children born to Grace and Charles Clark in High River, Alta. Clark's father was a newspaperman and Joe seriously thought of pursuing journalism as a career but was eventually drawn to the art of politics. While in university, at Dalhousie and U.B.C., Clark became active with the Progressive Conservative party, serving as youth wing president for two terms. At the age of 28, he ran unsuccessfully as a provincial PC candidate in Alberta, but ended up working in the office of Peter Lougheed, then opposition leader. In 1972, he ran again, federally, in the riding of Rocky Mountain and won. Four years later, when he was 36, he became the youngest leader of a federal party when he defeated Claude Wagner on the fourth ballot to bec...
