Robert Leroy Johnson (May 8, 1911 – August 16, 1938) was an American blues singer-songwriter and musician. His landmark recordings in 1936 and 1937 display a combination of singing, guitar skills, and songwriting talent that has influenced later generations of musicians. Johnson's shadowy and poorly documented life and death at age 27 have given rise to much legend, including the Faustian myth that he sold his soul to the devil at a crossroads to achieve success. As an itinerant performer who played mostly on street corners, in juke joints, and at Saturday night dances, Johnson had little commercial success or public recognition in his lifetime.
It was only after the reissue of his recordings in 1961, on the LP King of the Delta Blues Singers, that his work reached a wider audience. Johnson is now recognized as a master of the blues, particularly of the Mississippi Delta blues style. He is credited by many rock musicians as an important influence; Eric Clapton has called Johnson "the most important blues singer that ever lived." Johnson was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as an early Influence in their first induction ceremony in 1986. In 2010, David Fricke ranked Johnson fifth in Rolling Stone′s list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.

Plot: In November of 1833, the state of Missouri turned a blind eye as hundreds of its peaceful inhabitants were hunted down and driven from their homes in the dead of night. Against this impending strife, a young man with a divine vision leads a people against the aggression of an anti-hero with a vulnerable past. With more than two million copies sold, the second volume of Gerald N. Lund's epic series The Work and the Glory now brings a pivotal moment in American history to the big screen. "The Work and The Glory: American Zion" sets the story of the fictional Steed family against the historically factual backdrop of the Mormon people's move into the West. Divided by their diverse reactions to a nascent ideology, the Steeds struggle to hold together as the strength of their convictions and their filial bonds are tested. The stirring narrative of the faith that led a persecuted people to Missouri and beyond is one of the most poignant untold tales of American history. It is the account of a valiant struggle to exercise the rights promised by a fledgling nation. "The Work and the Glory: American Zion" unearths the story of the passion behind the movement which eventually launched the largest American migration and the colonization of the West: the vision of a promised land in America.

Told as a dual story, the tale unfolds back and forth between each country. In France, Berthold gets a young model to pose nude for him to develop his sculpture. When he falls for her, his doting mother opposes the relationship. Meanwhile in America, the Jewish Marchand faces bigotry but is taken by into a business by a good-willed Irishman. It is incorrect that playback speed of "Robert Johoson's CD" is. This song was recorded at speeds of 74~5 rpm, not 78rpm. So this song is Key of A, not Bb (B), and he had played this song by National Reso-Phonic guitar (tri-cone?), not Gibson.

LAMB: Bob Johnson, in this interview for The Cable Center in Denver in the oral history, can you remember back to the very first moment you thought of doing something on television, in cable? JOHNSON: Yeah, I can probably remember the time when I thought this was something that I would want to do and it would be between... I was at the NCTA in probably the latter part of '79, when I would go to the conventions and see all of these new channels, these targeted channels cropping up, these niche channels, and it occurred to me at some point in time somebody was going to start a channel targeted to African-Americans and I was sort of in the back of my mind concerned that it might not be me, and that sort of drove me more than anything else is that sort of "why not me?" And that's when it star...
