Cable
An electrical cable is made of two or more wires running side by side and bonded, twisted, or braided together to form a single assembly, the ends of which can be connected to two devices, enabling the transfer of electrical signals from one device to the other. Cables are used for a wide range of purposes, and each must be tailored for that purpose. Cables are used extensively in electronic devices for power and signal circuits. Long-distance communication takes place over undersea cables. Power cables are used for bulk transmission of alternating and direct current power, especially using high-voltage cable. Electrical cables are extensively used in building wiring for lighting, power and control circuits permanently installed in buildings. Since all the circuit conductors required can be installed in a cable at one time, installation labor is saved compared to certain other wiring methods.
The term originally referred to a nautical line of specific length where multiple ropes, each laid clockwise, are then laid together anti-clockwise and shackled to produce a strong thick line, resistant to water absorption, that was used to anchor large ships. In mechanics, cables, otherwise known as wire ropes, are used for lifting, hauling, and towing or conveying force through tension. In electrical engineering cables are used to carry electric currents. An optical cable contains one or more optical fibers in a protective jacket that supports the fibers.

Cable length
A cable length or length of cable is a nautical unit of measure equal to one tenth of a nautical mile or approximately 100 fathoms. The unit is named after the length of a ship's anchor cable in the age of sail. The definition varies:
- The traditional British fathom varied from 5½ feet to 7 feet in the Merchant Navy.

Cable (British band)
Cable were a British indie rock band originally from Derby, UK who released 3 albums in the late '90s: Down-Lift the Up-Trodden ('96), When Animals Attack ('97), and Sub-Lingual ('99), on Infectious Records. The band split up in 1999.
Formed in 1992 by Matt Bagguley and Darius Hinks, Cable were initially inspired by the art-rock leanings of indie-labels such as Touch and Go, Dischord, Blast First, Southern Records and Shimmy Disc, and also UK artists such as Spacemen 3 & My Bloody Valentine. The first settled line-up was Matt Bagguley (vocals/guitar), Darius Hinks (guitar), Pete Darrington (bass), Neil Cooper (drums) and throughout 1993 the band played regularly with underground acts from the U.S (such as Medicine, Polvo, Truman's Water, Rocket From The Crypt..) In early '94 their debut single "Sale of the Century" was released on 7", by Derby-based indie-label Krunch! Records. Radio 1 DJ John Peel played it immediately on his show saying it was the best thing he'd heard that week and phoned the band during the show to invite them to record a session. John Peel remained a loyal fan from that moment on, and altogether the band recorded 4 Peel Sessions.

Learn how to make a network cable (patch lead) and fit an RJ45 connector using a pass-through RJ45 crimping tool for Snap Plugs. This type of RJ45 plug allows the 8 conductors to pass through the end, making it easier to ensure the correct order of the coloured wires (T-568A or T-568B) and perfect placement inside the jack before crimping.

Cable Length: What is the Round-trip distance?
You’ll need to know what the distance is from the inverter to the battery and back again. If the cable from the inverter to the battery is 5 feet, then the round-trip distance is 10 feet (5 feet to the battery plus 5 feet back to the inverter).
How many watts are you running?
This is the BIG question! You may have a 10,000W Inverter, but only plan on using 8,000W max. If you never plan on using the 10,000W, you should size your cables for 8,000W.
To calculate watts using amps (A), multiply Volts (V) times Amps (A). Formula: (V x A = W).
To calculate amps from watts, take the wattage (W) and divide (/) it by the voltage (V). Formula: (W/V=A)
How to Calculate the Cable Gauge
Take your round-trip cable length and find it on the left side of the chart. Be certain that you're looking at the correct chart; we have one for 12V (Blue Chart), 24V (Yellow Chart), & 48V (Green Chart) systems! Next, locate the Power Inverter wattage you’ll be using on the top of the chart and find the point at which both lines intersect; that is the cable that you need for your application.
How to read the number
Now that you’ve located your cable number, what does it mean? If it is just a number by itself (6, 4, 2, 0, 00, 000, 0000, etc.), then it represents an American Wire Gauge (AWG) size. This is a standard electrical wire number read as “6 AWG”, "4 AWG", or “00 AWG” and is universally understood.
If the number ends with a “k” designation, it is short for “kcmil”. kcmil and MCM cable sizes are interchangeable numbers for large diameter wire/cables. MCM numbers are read as “350 MCM” or “500 MCM”.
Don't forget the fuse!
*Take note: At the bottom of the chart is the recommended fuse for your inverter size.
The fuse should be placed inline on the positive battery cable (+ or red colored cable) and within 1 foot (12 inches) from the battery.

Cable length is also affected by the wire gauge size of the individual conductors. Typically this is only 28 AWG (American Wire Gauge). Two larger AWG conductor sizes are 24 AWG and 22 AWG. I found that 22 AWG could go to 100ft (30m). The drawback is that the cables themselves are much thicker.
FYI, 28 AWG = 64ohms/1000ft,
24 AWG = 25ohms/1000ft,
22 AWG = 16ohms/1000ft.

Learn how to make a network cable (patch lead) and fit an RJ45 connector using a pass-through RJ45 crimping tool for Snap Plugs. This type of RJ45 plug allows the 8 conductors to pass through the end, making it easier to ensure the correct order of the coloured wires (T-568A or T-568B) and perfect placement inside the jack before crimping.

An electrical cable is made of two or more wires running side by side and bonded, twisted, or braided together to form a single assembly, the ends of which can be connected to two devices, enabling the transfer of electrical signals from one device to the other. Cables are used for a wide range of purposes, and each must be tailored for that purpose. Cables are used extensively in electronic devices for power and signal circuits. Long-distance communication takes place over undersea cables. Power cables are used for bulk transmission of alternating and direct current power, especially using high-voltage cable. Electrical cables are extensively used in building wiring for lighting, power and control circuits permanently installed in buildings. Since all the circuit conductors required can be installed in a cable at one time, installation labor is saved compared to certain other wiring methods.
The term originally referred to a nautical line of specific length where multiple ropes, each laid clockwise, are then laid together anti-clockwise and shackled to produce a strong thick line, resistant to water absorption, that was used to anchor large ships. In mechanics, cables, otherwise known as wire ropes, are used for lifting, hauling, and towing or conveying force through tension. In electrical engineering cables are used to carry electric currents. An optical cable contains one or more optical fibers in a protective jacket that supports the fibers.

I have purchased 10 AWG / gauge cables by default but did I need to?? Lets compare a 12 AWG / gauge cable to a 10 AWG / gauge cable to each other. My cable length here is 50 foot. Admittedly I could have done a couple extra tests but I think the overall point was achieved in comparing the two MC4 extension cables.

Answer: Which cables you need are based on – How long the cable needs to be and how many watts you’ll be running. Take a look at the charts at the link above.
Cable Length: What is the Round-trip distance?
You’ll need to know what the distance is from the inverter to the battery and back again. If the cable from the inverter to the battery is 5 feet, then the round-trip distance is 10 feet (5 feet to the battery plus 5 feet back to the inverter).
How many watts are you running?
This is the BIG question! You may have a 10,000W Inverter, but only plan on using 8,000W max. If you never plan on using the 10,000W, you should size your cables for 8,000W.
To calculate watts using amps (A), multiply Volts (V) times Amps (A). Formula: (V x A = W).
To calculate amps from watts, take the wattage (W) and divide (/) it by the voltage (V). Formula: (W/V=A)
How to Calculate the Cable Gauge
Take your round-trip cable length and find it on the left side of the chart. Be certain that you're looking at the correct chart; we have one for 12V (Blue Chart), 24V (Yellow Chart), & 48V (Green Chart) systems! Next, locate the Power Inverter wattage you’ll be using on the top of the chart and find the point at which both lines intersect; that is the cable that you need for your application.
How to read the number
Now that you’ve located your cable number, what does it mean? If it is just a number by itself (6, 4, 2, 0, 00, 000, 0000, etc.), then it represents an American Wire Gauge (AWG) size. This is a standard electrical wire number read as “6 AWG”, "4 AWG", or “00 AWG” and is universally understood.
If the number ends with a “k” designation, it is short for “kcmil”. kcmil and MCM cable sizes are interchangeable numbers for large diameter wire/cables. MCM numbers are read as “350 MCM” or “500 MCM”.
Don't forget the fuse!
*Take note: At the bottom of the chart is the recommended fuse for your inverter size.
The fuse should be placed inline on the positive battery cable (+ or red colored cable) and within 1 foot (12 inches) from the battery.

The best way to know if a cheap HDMI Repeater works is to buy it and test it.
I bought 4 of them because I needed HDMI joiners, and these are so cheap.
As a general rule of thumb, regular HDMI cables work up to 15m to 20m.
With the HDMI Repeater, the HDMI signal is regenerated to extend longer cable runs.
It claims to extend HDMI transmission to 40m using high-quality HDMI cables.
In this test, I use low-speed HDMI cables to keep the costs down.

Tip from Robert Harker:
Cable length is also affected by the wire gauge size of the individual conductors. Typically this is only 28 AWG (American Wire Gauge). Two larger AWG conductor sizes are 24 AWG and 22 AWG. I found that 22 AWG could go to 100ft (30m). The drawback is that the cables themselves are much thicker.
FYI, 28 AWG = 64ohms/1000ft,
24 AWG = 25ohms/1000ft,
22 AWG = 16ohms/1000ft.
