Entwined is a 2011 novel written by Heather Dixon. It is based on the fairy tale The Twelve Dancing Princesses.
Princess Azalea is the eldest of twelve daughters born to King and Queen of Eathesbury. When her mother dies, her and her sisters' world is shattered, leaving behind a grieving, neglectful King and a world devoid of color and dancing thanks to mourning. One night, Azalea and her sisters discover a secret passage that leads to a magical forest where they can dance all night. But the Keeper of the forest desperately wants out of the castle, and so Azalea and her sisters must search for the object that has trapped him for so many years. Meanwhile, as the King searches for suitors, the three eldest sisters' love lives become tangled as well.
