Brake
A brake is a mechanical device that inhibits motion by absorbing energy from a moving system. It is used for slowing or stopping a moving vehicle, wheel, axle, or to prevent its motion, most often accomplished by means of friction.
Background
Most brakes commonly use friction between two surfaces pressed together to convert the kinetic energy of the moving object into heat, though other methods of energy conversion may be employed. For example, regenerative braking converts much of the energy to electrical energy, which may be stored for later use. Other methods convert kinetic energy into potential energy in such stored forms as pressurized air or pressurized oil. Eddy current brakes use magnetic fields to convert kinetic energy into electric current in the brake disc, fin, or rail, which is converted into heat. Still other braking methods even transform kinetic energy into different forms, for example by transferring the energy to a rotating flywheel.
Brakes are generally applied to rotating axles or wheels, but may also take other forms such as the surface of a moving fluid (flaps deployed into water or air). Some vehicles use a combination of braking mechanisms, such as drag racing cars with both wheel brakes and a parachute, or airplanes with both wheel brakes and drag flaps raised into the air during landing.

Plot: Pierre-Louis is a successful investment broker who sees a hit and run and informs the police. As he is the only eyewitness willing to testify against the driver Jackhammer, the vicious leader of a gang of bikers, Pierre-Louis is whisked off to the witness protection program in a trailer park run by the kitschy Jackie Pigeon. A chapter of inept bikers called the Wanna-Bees also come to stay at the campground. When Pierre-Louis and Jackie are attracted to each other, Pierre-Louis is threatened by the investigating police officer, who also has designs on Jackie. Meanwhile Jackhammer is out on bail and contacts all the biker chapters to be on the lookout for the disguised Pierre-Louis.

Yes, you heard right. I hope to take the Fairmont to the track soon and I'll need to pass inspection to make a pass down the track. Given that I had brake hoses that were dry rotted and cracked, I decided to replace them in this video. This process will work for more than just my Fairmont, it's a pretty basic operation that will apply to most vehicles. Just be sure to work quickly to avoid running the master cylinder dry. In the past few videos I've been getting my Fairmont ready to take to the drag strip. Since I discovered some brake issues I thought it best to address those. In this video I rebuild the right front caliper. Turns out after I replaced the brake hoses that it was sticking and not releasing. Not wanting to spend the money on a new caliper, I decided to go for a rebuild. Now may of you may question the logic of doing this, especially when you see the caliper piston, but keep in mind my intention is to replace the entire brake system when I upgrade the engine and suspension on this car so it doesn't make sense to make a huge investment in this car as it is now. Yes, you heard right. I hope to take the Fairmont to the track soon and I'll need to pass inspection to make a pass down the track. Given that I had brake hoses that were dry rotted and cracked, I decided to replace them in this video. This process will work for more than just my Fairmont, it's a pretty basic operation that will apply to most vehicles. Just be sure to work quickly to avoid running the master cylinder dry. Other than that, have the correct tools handy and I'm sure you'll have it done in no time.
For those of you astute viewers that noticed the 'creaking' noise coming from the right front caliper, that's you're next video. When it goes live, I'll post a link here.

In the past few videos I've been getting my Fairmont ready to take to the drag strip. Since I discovered some brake issues I thought it best to address those. I...
In the past few videos I've been getting my Fairmont ready to take to the drag strip. Since I discovered some brake issues I thought it best to address those. In this video I rebuild the right front caliper. Turns out after I replaced the brake hoses that it was sticking and not releasing. Not wanting to spend the money on a new caliper, I decided to go for a rebuild. Now may of you may question the logic of doing this, especially when you see the caliper piston, but keep in mind my intention is to replace the entire brake system when I upgrade the engine and suspension on this car so it doesn't make sense to make a huge investment in this car as it is now. So for the naysayers, it's temporary, chill out. Either way I hope you enjoy this video and that it helps you if you find yourself needing to rebuild a front brake caliper. It is a cheap alternative IF your piston isn't all corroded. BTW it's not likely your piston isn't going to be all corroded. Good luck.

This is a step by step instructional video on how to replace the rear brake pads & rotor on a SN95 ('94 - ’98) and New Edge (’99 - ’04) Ford Mustang with basic hand tools. It may also apply to other Ford models that use screw/twist in style rear brake calipers.
I show many tips & tricks to make this job quick, easy & painless. Including (but not limited to) the factory torque specs, methods to diagnose uneven pad wear and replacement part numbers for commonly damaged/missing/broken parts. I also show two different methods to compress the rear caliper piston, which is a screw in/twist in style caliper. It should take you about a half hour to an hour per side if you take your time.
