Yevade Subramanyam

Yevade Subramanyam (English: Who is Subramanyam?) is a 2015 Telugu drama film directed by debutante film maker Nag Ashwin, starring Nani as the titular character, a corporate man who sets out on a journey of self-discovery. Produced by Priyanka Dutt, the film also features newcomer Malavika Nair, Vijay Deverakonda and Ritu Varma in supporting roles. Much of the filming took place at the Everest Base Camp, becoming the first Indian film to be shot at the location. Filming was completed in mid-November 2014, and the film released on March 21, 2015 and was declared a Hit. The movie is loosely based on the 2010 American film, The Way.

Plot

Subramanyam (Nani), called by everybody as Subbu, is a materialistic IIM graduate who is very ambitious. He works for Pasupathi (Nassar), who aims to buy his rival Ramaiah's(Krishnam Raju) Company but fails at it. Subbu, with his wit and ability to manipulate people, makes Ramaiah's employees sell their shares. With this being Pasupathi's biggest success, Subbu gets engaged to his boss's daughter Riya (Ritu Varma). During the engagement ceremony, a childhood friend, Rishi (Vijay Devarakonda), enters his life. Rishi is very energetic and opposite in the character to Subbu. Rishi is a true artist of life, who lives and never thinks about living. The same day they encounter a free-spirited girl Anandi (Malavika Nair) in a pub. Rishi reveals his dream is to travel with Subbu to Doodh Kashi, a holy lake in the Himalayas.

Ritu Varma

Ritu Varma (Born 10 March 1990) is an Indian film actress who mainly works in the Telugu film industry. She is best known for her performance in the award winning short film Anukokunda.

Early life

Ritu Varma was born and brought up at Hyderabad. She has done her entire education at Hyderabad and holds a bachelors degree in engineering. After completing her engineering she took part in Dabur Gulabari Miss Rose glow pageant and was declared the first Runner up.

Career

Ritu Varma rose to fame post her performance in the short film Anukokunda. The shortfilm won best film award at the 48HR Film Project competition in 2012 and also fetched Ritu the best actor female award. The short film was later screened at the Cannes Short film Corner in 2013.

After her appearance in Anukokunda, she entered Telugu film industry. She signed her first Telugu moviePrema Ishq Kaadhal in which she played the role of a costume designer opposite Sree Vishnu. Her next release was Naa Rakumarudu which was followed by Yevade Subramanyam. She has signed up two Tamil projects, China and Pirai Thaediya Naatkal. In Telugu she has signed a rom-com Pelli Choopulu.

Vyjayanthi Movies (Telugu: వైజయంతీ మూవీస్) is an Indian Film production company established in 1974, by C. Ashwini Dutt. It is one of the biggest film production houses in Telugu cinema credited with producing some of the most iconic films in Telugu Cinema history. The company has also produced bollywood films like Company and Calcutta Mail.

Initial years and logo

Vyjayanthi Movies has commenced film production under the proprietorship of C. Ashwini Dutt with 1974's successful film O Seetha Katha. The company was named by NTR. Also the logo of the production house contains the image of NTR in the attire of Sri Krishna with a Shankha in his hand and the Earth behind him. They went onto make films with top actors of Telugu cinema like NTR, ANR, Krishna, Sobhan Babu, Chiranjeevi and Krishnam Raju. Many of the films that were made by Vyjayanthi Movies were directed by K. Bapaiah and K. Raghavendra Rao.

Films and success

Vyjayanthi Movies produced several Telugu films like Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, Choodalani Vundi, Indra which were very successful at the box-office. Vyjayanthi Movies introduced popular actors like Mahesh Babu, Ram Charan, Nara Rohit and Allu Arjun to the Telugu cinema.

Priyanka Dutt

Priyanka Dutt (born 19 December 1984) is an Indian film producer based in Hyderabad . Priyanka Dutt is the daughter of C. Ashwini Dutt, a well known Indian film producer and the founder of Vyjayanthi Movies. Dutt studied filmmaking from UCLA (University of California Los Angeles) . She made her debut as a filmmaker at the age of 21 by co-producing the movie Balu in 2004. She is the founder of Three Angels Studio .In 2013 Priyanka produced a short film titled; Yaadon Ki Baraat which has been screened at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival .

Early days

Dutt began her career in the film industry by assisting the Bombay based director and admaker Shoojit Sircar in many of his ad films for various brands. She moved to Hyderabad to co-produce movies with her father's banner Vyjayanthi Movies. She co-produced three movies: Balu (2004), Jai Chiranjeeva (2005), and Shakti (2011).

Three Angels Studio

Dutt launched her own production house, Three Angels Studio in the year 2009 to encourage New age cinema. The studio produced its first film Baanam (2009) which explores the story of an IPS officer who is the son of a Naxalite. The film was critically acclaimed for the way it dealt with the issue. The film won Priyanka the Silver Nandi Award in the best film category in 2009. The studio produced Om Shanti in 2010 starring Kajal Aggarwal and Navdeep and Sarocharu in the year 2011 starring Ravi Teja and Kajal Aggarwal . She also produced corporate films for premium clients in India under Three Angels Studio .
