A tough-talking Supreme Court on Thursday gave the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) an ultimatum to implement all the reforms suggested by the RM Lodha Committee. The BCCI has been asked by the top court to give an undertaking by Friday to shape up or ship out.
Indian cricket administration is at a turning point because today the like never before, the world's richest cricket board, the BCCI is under scrutiny, and that too by the Supreme Court. And along the way the board is resisting every serious attempt at change and transparency. So today, BCCI president Anurag Thakur virtually threatened to call off the current India-New Zealand Test and One Day series because he said the Supreme Court-appointed Lodha Panel has frozen the board's accounts. So they don't have money for matches. Justice Lodha, however, says that's not true and the BCCI is free to spend money on the games. Despite orders from the Supreme Court, India's cricket board the BCCI defiantly refused to undertake key administrative reforms for greater transparency. So today a panel set up by the court has said the board should be sacked for non-compliance. Including its President Anurag Thakur and Secretary Ajay Shirke. In scathing words, the court said the BCCI had to fall in line or else they would be made to. The reforms suggested by the Lodha panel have far-reaching implications for the way Indian cricket is run but the Board which is dominated by powerful politicians and administrators is not listening. I want you to remember
A love so full it could send us all ways
I want you to surrender
All my feelings rose today
And I want you to remain
The power of children can amaze
I'll try not to complain
I know that's a pisser baby
The chemicals between us
The walls that lie between us
Lying in this bed
The chemicals displaced
There is no lonlier place
Than lying in this bed
I want you to remember
Everything you said
Every driven word
Like a hammer, hell, to my head
The chemicals between us
There is no lonlier place
Then lying in this bed
The chemicals displaced
There is no lonlier place
Than lying in this bed
The chemicals between us
The chemicals between us
Lying in this bed
We're of the hollow men
We are the naked ones
We never meant you harm
Never meant you wrong
I'd like to thank
All of my lovers, lovers, lovers
The chemicals between us
The army of achievers
Lying in this bed
The chemicals displaced
There is no lonlier face
Than lying in this bed
The chemicals between us
The chemicals between us
The chemicals
