As the murder trial for the death of “American Sniper” Chris Kyle and fellow veteran Chad Littlefield continues this week, more details about the accused killer, ex-Marine Eddie Ray Routh, have been released. The defense team hopes that many of the details regarding Routh’s behavior after the murder will buttress their claims that Routh was temporarily insane at the time of the murders.
After Routh killed Kyle and Littlefield at Rough Creek Lodge shooting range near Dallas, Routh drove to a Taco Bell and ordered two bean burritos. Prosecutors argue that this behavior shows that Routh was perfectly capable of thinking clearly at the time of the murder.
Defense lawyers hope to paint an entirely different picture, highlighting the erratic behavior that Routh displayed when he drove to his sister’s house in Midlothian after the murder. He bragged about stealing Kyle’s black Ford F-350 pickup truck and explained that he “sold his soul for a truck.” Routh also admitted to killing the two men, prompting his sister to call 911 after he left.
Routh planned to flee to Oklahoma and stopped by his house to pick up a few items and his black labrador. When he returned to his house later to pick up a few items he forgot, police met him in his driveway. One officer entered into a conversation with Routh, and Routh began to talk about voodoo, the apocalypse and hell. “Everything’s just happening so fast … I don’t know if I’m going insane,” Routh is heard telling the police in a conversation recorded on the officer’s body-worn camera. The defense team has focused on these remarks.
Officers placed metal stop sticks in front of the rear tires of the pickup truck, although this didn’t prevent Routh from fleeing. After a six to nine-minute car chase, a police car rammed into Routh’s vehicle and disabled. Routh then quietly surrendered.
Routh has confessed to killing the two men on February 2, 2013, but has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.

STORYLINE
An Italian man accused of killing of his American girlfriend in 1998 went on trial in Rome on Monday, a lawyer said.
Carlo Ventre is accused of having killed Toni Dykstra, the mother of his child, in his Rome apartment.
Dykstra, a paralegal who lived in Southern California's San Pedro area, had travelled to Italy to retrieve the couple's daughter, Santina.
Dykstra had obtained an Italian court order requiring Ventre to hand over the girl, so she could return to the US with her mother.
But a day before they were due to leave Dykstra, 29 years old, was found dead on the floor of Ventres apartment.
According to Luca Ciaglia, lawyer for Dykstra's family, the opening hearing on Monday was dedicated to technicalities with attorneys presenting lists of witnesses and documents.
The defendant was trying to have the charge lessened from murder to manslaughter, said Ciaglia.
Cigalia also said that the case was up to the Italian, not American authorities.
"The slaying of Mrs. Dykstra happened in Italy, near Rome, thus the competent judge is in Rome and the United States can only be observers in this story, they cannot take part in it directly."
The trial had been scheduled to open March 1, but the hearing was immediately adjourned because the presiding judge was about to resign and a new one had to be appointed.
According to Ventre's account, Dykstra was attacking him with an axe when he shoved her in self-defence, causing her to strike her head on a fireplace and die.
Dykstra's family and friends have said Ventre repeatedly threatened to kill Dykstra.
The couple had lived together in Downey, a south Los Angeles suburb, for about a year but never married.
Ventre had returned to the United States in 1999 and served nearly one year in prison after being convicted for international parental kidnapping charges.
He was deported to Italy last year to face charges in Dykstra's death.
Santina is currently in the custody of Ventre's brother, who lives in Las Vegas.
The next hearings in the case are scheduled for October 10 and 12.

It does not have to have any special meaning or significance, or even exist anywhere outside of the sentence being analyzed, but it must function there as a complete grammatical unit. In law, a trial is a coming together of parties to a dispute, to present information (in the form of evidence) in a tribunal, a formal setting with the authority to adjudicate claims or disputes. One form of tribunal is a court. The tribunal, which may occur before a judge, jury, or other designated trier of fact, aims to achieve a resolution to their dispute.
Types of trial divided by the finder of fact
Where the trial is held before a group of members of the community, it is called a jury trial. Where the trial is held solely before a judge, it is called a bench trial.
Bench trials are often resolved faster. Furthermore, a favorable ruling for one party in a bench trial will frequently lead the other party to offer a settlement.
Hearings before administrative bodies may have many of the features of a trial before a court, but are typically not referred to as trials.
An appellate proceeding is also generally not deemed a trial, because such proceedings are usually restricted to review of the evidence presented before the trial court, and do not permit the introduction of new evidence.

American Sniper
American Sniper is a 2014 American biographical war film directed by Clint Eastwood and written by Jason Hall. It is loosely based on the memoir American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History (2012) by Chris Kyle, with Scott McEwen and Jim DeFelice. The film follows the life of Kyle, who became the deadliest marksman in U.S. military history with 255 kills from four tours in the Iraq War, 160 of which were officially confirmed by the Department of Defense. While Kyle was celebrated for his military successes, his tours of duty took a heavy toll on his personal and family life. Lawyer Luca Ciaglia leaving the Rome's tribunal STORYLINE An Italian man accused of killing of his American girlfriend in 1998 went on trial in Rome on Monday, a lawyer said. Carlo Ventre is accused of having killed Toni Dykstra, the mother of his child, in his Rome apartment. Dykstra, a paralegal who lived in Southern California's San Pedro area, had travelled to Italy to retrieve the couple's daughter, Santina. Dykstra had obtained an Italian court order requiring Ventre to hand over the girl, so she could return to the US with her mother. But a day before they were due to leave Dykstra, 29 years old, was found dead on the floor of Ventres apartment. According to Luca Ciaglia, lawyer for Dykstra's family, the opening hearing on Monday was dedicated to technicalities with attorneys presenting lists of witnesses and documents. The defendant was trying to have the charge lessened from murder to manslaughter, said Ciaglia. Cigalia also said that the case was up to the Italian, not American authorities. "The slaying of Mrs. Dykstra happened in Italy, near Rome, thus the competent judge is in Rome and the United States can only be observers in this story, they cannot take part in it directly." The trial had been scheduled to open March 1, but the hearing was immediately adjourned because the presiding judge was about to resign and a new one had to be appointed. According to Ventre's account, Dykstra was attacking him with an axe when he shoved her in self-defence, causing her to strike her head on a fireplace and die. Dykstra's family and friends have said Ventre repeatedly threatened to kill Dykstra. The couple had lived together in Downey, a south Los Angeles suburb, for about a year but never married. Ventre had returned to the United States in 1999 and served nearly one year in prison after being convicted for international parental kidnapping charges. He was deported to Italy last year to face charges in Dykstra's death. Santina is currently in the custody of Ventre's brother, who lives in Las Vegas. The next hearings in the case are scheduled for October 10 and 12. As the murder trial for the death of “American Sniper” Chris Kyle and fellow veteran Chad Littlefield continues this week, more details about the accused killer, ex-Marine Eddie Ray Routh, have been released. The defense team hopes that many of the details regarding Routh’s behavior after the murder will buttress their claims that Routh was temporarily insane at the time of the murders.
After Routh killed Kyle and Littlefield at Rough Creek Lodge shooting range near Dallas, Routh drove to a Taco Bell and ordered two bean burritos. Prosecutors argue that this behavior shows that Routh was perfectly capable of thinking clearly at the time of the murder.
Defense lawyers hope to paint an entirely different picture, highlighting the erratic behavior that Routh displayed when he drove to his sister’s house in Midlothian after the murder. He bragged about stealing Kyle’s black Ford F-350 pickup truck and explained that he “sold his soul for a truck.” Routh also admitted to killing the two men, prompting his sister to call 911 after he left.
Routh planned to flee to Oklahoma and stopped by his house to pick up a few items and his black labrador. When he returned to his house later to pick up a few items he forgot, police met him in his driveway. One officer entered into a conversation with Routh, and Routh began to talk about voodoo, the apocalypse and hell. “Everything’s just happening so fast … I don’t know if I’m going insane,” Routh is heard telling the police in a conversation recorded on the officer’s body-worn camera. The defense team has focused on these remarks.
Officers placed metal stop sticks in front of the rear tires of the pickup truck, although this didn’t prevent Routh from fleeing. After a six to nine-minute car chase, a police car rammed into Routh’s vehicle and disabled. Routh then quietly surrendered.
Routh has confessed to killing the two men on February 2, 2013, but has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.

STORYLINE
An Italian man accused of killing of his American girlfriend in 1998 went on trial in Rome on Monday, a lawyer said.
Carlo Ventre is accused of having killed Toni Dykstra, the mother of his child, in his Rome apartment.
Dykstra, a paralegal who lived in Southern California's San Pedro area, had travelled to Italy to retrieve the couple's daughter, Santina.
Dykstra had obtained an Italian court order requiring Ventre to hand over the girl, so she could return to the US with her mother.
But a day before they were due to leave Dykstra, 29 years old, was found dead on the floor of Ventres apartment.
According to Luca Ciaglia, lawyer for Dykstra's family, the opening hearing on Monday was dedicated to technicalities with attorneys presenting lists of witnesses and documents.
The defendant was trying to have the charge lessened from murder to manslaughter, said Ciaglia.
Cigalia also said that the case was up to the Italian, not American authorities.
"The slaying of Mrs. Dykstra happened in Italy, near Rome, thus the competent judge is in Rome and the United States can only be observers in this story, they cannot take part in it directly."
The trial had been scheduled to open March 1, but the hearing was immediately adjourned because the presiding judge was about to resign and a new one had to be appointed.
According to Ventre's account, Dykstra was attacking him with an axe when he shoved her in self-defence, causing her to strike her head on a fireplace and die.
Dykstra's family and friends have said Ventre repeatedly threatened to kill Dykstra.
The couple had lived together in Downey, a south Los Angeles suburb, for about a year but never married.
Ventre had returned to the United States in 1999 and served nearly one year in prison after being convicted for international parental kidnapping charges.
He was deported to Italy last year to face charges in Dykstra's death.
Santina is currently in the custody of Ventre's brother, who lives in Las Vegas.
The next hearings in the case are scheduled for October 10 and 12.

He lives in Cape Cod. For nearly two decades he researched and wrote about the health hazards of asbestos. He has also written about the dangers of household detergents, the depletion of the ozone layer, microwave radiation and electromagnetic fields from power lines. In 1992 he donated 300 boxes of papers accumulated during his research to the New York Public Library. In 2010 he was informed that the NYPL had finished culling the papers it chose to retain in its collection. Brodeur publicly objected, stating that the materials to be removed were essential to understanding his investigative process. Science writer Gary Taubes has said Brodeur's writings on electromagnetic radiation are part of what inspired him to switch from writing about bad practices in physics to epidemiology and public health.
Brodeur's short stories have appeared in The New Yorker, The Saturday Evening Post, and Show Magazine. His 1970 novel The Stunt Man inspired the Academy-Award nominated 1980 film of the same name starring Peter O'Toole as an egotistical movie director.

Brodeur publicly objected, stating that the materials to be removed were essential to understanding his investigative process. Science writer Gary Taubes has said Brodeur's writings on electromagnetic radiation are part of what inspired him to switch from writing about bad practices in physics to epidemiology and public health.
Brodeur's short stories have appeared in The New Yorker, The Saturday Evening Post, and Show Magazine. His 1970 novel The Stunt Man inspired the Academy-Award nominated 1980 film of the same name starring Peter O'Toole as an egotistical movie director.
