Ramiro Funes Mori
Ramiro José Funes Mori (born 5 March 1991) is an Argentine professional footballer, who plays as a defender for English club Everton and the Argentina national football team.
Early life
Funes Mori was born in Mendoza, Argentina. In 2001, he along with his family, emigrated from Argentina to United States. His twin brother, Rogelio, is also a professional footballer who plays for Mexican club C.F. Monterrey and the Argentina national team. The twins' father, Miguel, played professional football in Argentina with such clubs as Independiente Rivadavia and Club Atlético Argentino in the 1980s. In 2008 Ramiro joined the FC Dallas youth team after winning an MLS talent competition but spent less than a year playing for the side before moving back to Argentina.
Club career
River Plate
Funes joined River Plate as a youth player, progressing to the senior team in 2011. With River Plate he won the 2015 Copa Libertadores.
Everton
On 1 September 2015, Funes Mori joined Premier League club Everton for a fee of £9.5 million. He made his début, coming on as a substitute, 11 days later in a 3-1 home win against Chelsea. Funes Mori scored his first goal for Everton in a 3-3 draw with Bournemouth on 28 November 2015.
