Subscribe to VICE News here: http://bit.ly/Subscribe-to-VICE-News The Central African Republic's capital of Bangui has seen its Muslim population drop from 130,000 to under 1000 over the past few months. Over the past year, thousands across CAR have been killed and nearly a million have been displaced. The United Nations recently stated that the entire Western half of the country has now been cleansed of Muslims. CAR has never fully recovered from France's colonial rule, and it has only known ten years of a civilian government - from 1993 to 2003 - since achieving independence in 1960. Coup after coup, often with French military involvement, has led many to refer to the country as a phantom state. The current conflict has now completely erased the rule of law and order, and left the UN a...

Executive Secretary of RESCAR in the West and Central Africa regions, Patrice Djamen, at the opening told participants that his colleagues do not believe in meetings organised nowadays and described it as another tourism outfit, but Dr. Djamen replied that it is an international conference. Even with the response, his colleagues said it is the same thing. He added that partnerships are important tools for accelerating the development of populations in rural and urban settings. He reminded participants that the meeting in Limbe was to clarify the role to be played or played by each partner, especially as it held in a special context for the elimination of hunger and poverty alleviation and for the promotion of sustainable development. He went on to say that Cameroon is currently engaged in...

A moderate hat to any trendy African Women's Dashiki is very classy and fun to wear around town. It can be a casual or very chic splash of style once you put the right accessories together. As a Central African, I do love lots of heightened colors, prints, and patterns to celebrate my bloodline and/or cultural lineage but I also love moderate 21st century accessories as well. Use earrings, your favorite quick thrown on ring/bracelets, and do the most with your style. As an older woman, I find nowadays I never have to dress for others more or less for self and I love it! Add a trendy hat with your cultural ethnic style and go! Shout out to SENEGAL and my new favorite African restaurant in Chicago, Illinois! The food is delicious and different and I love the culture of the WOLOF people of ...

For Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), the situation in Central African Republic (CAR) was unique: seeing a country descend into violence before its very eyes, being surround by killings and witnessing an entire community being targeted without being able to provide protection. When the Seleka offensive began, MSF teams were already firmly established in the country. This documentary explores many of the questions raised by this situation: Did the teams know what was to come? What did they make of the increasing violence and the events taking place? What operational response was called for? Should MSF call for armed intervention? And what should the international community be doing? What assistance can MSF provide now?

The escalating violence in the Central African Republic (CAR) sparked by the murder of a motorcycle taxi driver at the end of September is threatening elections scheduled for later in October. The CAR’s foreign minister appealed to the UN as the spiraling violence continues to make it difficult for relief organizations to work. The CAR plunged into crisis in December 2013, when Christian anti-balaka militia began coordinated attacks against the country’s mostly Muslim Seleka group, which had toppled the government of President Francois Bozize in March that year. Shortly afterwards, Michel Djotodia was recognized as the head of the government. However, Djotodia resigned in January 2014 and was replaced by current interim President Catherine Samba-Panza. The CAR government is blaming anti...
