"Santa Lucia" (Italian: [ˈsanta luˈtʃiːa], Neapolitan: [ˈsandə luˈʃiːə]) is a traditional Neapolitan song. It was transcribed by Teodoro Cottrau (1827–1879) and published by the Cottrau firm, as a "barcarolla", at Naples in 1849. Cottrau translated it from Neapolitan into Italian during the first stage of the Risorgimento, the first Neapolitan song to be given Italian lyrics. Its transcriber, who is very often credited as its composer, was the son of the French-born Italian composer and collector of songs Guillaume Louis Cottrau (1797–1847).
Various sources credit A. Longo with the music, 1835.
The original lyrics of "Santa Lucia" celebrate the picturesque waterfront district, Borgo Santa Lucia, in the Bay of Naples, in the invitation of a boatman to take a turn in his boat, to better enjoy the cool of the evening.
In the United States, an early edition of the song, with an English translation by Thomas Oliphant, was published by M. McCaffrey, Baltimore. Perhaps the definitive 20th century recording of the song was that of Enrico Caruso, the great Neapolitan opera singer.

The Quest Pistols are a Ukrainian pop-rock band formed in 2007, originally consisting of Anton Savlepov (vocals, guitar), Nikita Goruk (vocals, bass), and Konstantin 'Kostya' Borovsky (vocals, keyboard). In 2012 Kostya left the band and was replaced by Daniel Joy. The band began as a group of dancers in a show called "Quest Ballet". On April 1, 2007 they took part as singers during the show "Chance" as an April Fools joke with the song "Я устал" and received over 60,000 positive votes. After their success, the group decided to become a band. Since their formation, the band has released the studio albums: Dlja tebja, in 2007 and Superklass in 2009; and one EP "Волшебные краски + ROCK’N'ROLL и кружева" in 2008, and now the single 'Forget Everything' in 2013 (later added to the album 'Shards of Ice'). This song marks the start of 'a new stage' of the band, completely different from the usual image. The press team commented; 'With this release, they start the next level in their musical career, it's changed not only the style of sound, but the pitch, perception, positioning, and also the choice of material.' Most recently, the band released 'Shards of Ice', which takes the band in a more electronic and synthpop direction.
Santa Claus, Saint Nicholas, Saint Nick, Father Christmas, Kris Kringle, Santy, or simply Santa is a mythical figure with historical origins who, in many Western cultures, brings gifts to the homes of well-behaved, "good" children on Christmas Eve (24 December) and the early morning hours of Christmas Day (25 December). The modern Santa Claus is derived from the British figure of Father Christmas, the Dutch figure of Sinterklaas, and Saint Nicholas, the historical Greek bishop and gift-giver of Myra. During the Christianization of Germanic Europe, this figure may also have absorbed elements of the god Odin, who was associated with the Germanic pagan midwinter event of Yule and led the Wild Hunt, a ghostly procession through the sky.
Santa Claus is generally depicted as a portly, joyous, white-bearded man—sometimes with spectacles—wearing a red coat with white collar and cuffs, white-cuffed red trousers, and black leather belt and boots and who carries a bag full of gifts for children. Images of him rarely have a beard with no moustache. This image became popular in the United States and Canada in the 19th century due to the significant influence of the 1823 poem "A Visit From St. Nicholas" and of caricaturist and political cartoonist Thomas Nast. This image has been maintained and reinforced through song, radio, television, children's books and films.

Miguel Ríos (born June 7, 1944, Granada, Spain) is a Spanish singer, composer, actor. He is one of the pioneers of rock and roll in Spain.
Ríos was born in La Cartuja, a neighborhood of Granada. The youngest of seven children, he went to work in a local bar at the age of fifteen after little formal education. His interest in rock and roll led him to participate in a song contest at Cenicienta 60 radio station, in which he and his friends won a prize for singing the Paul Anka song "You Are My Destiny".
With his mother's permission (his father died a few months earlier), he moved to Madrid in 1961 at the age of sixteen, where he recorded his first four songs. In popular circles he became known as Mike Ríos, the King of Twist.
As Mike Ríos he obtained some television popularity during the first half of the 1960s. In 1964 he resumed using his real name which cost him the support of his group, Los Relámpagos (the Lightning). He made his first incursion into cinema with a movie titled Dos chicas locas, locas (Two Crazy Girls).

A digitally remastered version of the original recording from 20th of March 1916. I generally don't like these remasterings as Caruso's voice is often distorted, but this one is OK I think and more palatable for most listeners.
