Thalía

Ariadna Thalía Sodi-Miranda Mottola (Spanish pronunciation: [aɾiˈaðna taˈli.a ˈsoði miˈɾanda]; born 26 August 1971), known mononymously as Thalía, is a Mexican singer, published author, actress, and entrepreneur. She has sung in various languages apart from her native Spanish, including English, Filipino, French and Portuguese.

She is recognized as the most successful and influential female Mexican singer. She is often referred to as the "Queen of Latin Pop" by international media, mainly because of her legacy within the Latin pop music scene for the last 25 years. As a solo artist, she has sold over 40 million records worldwide, being considered one of the best-selling Latin musicians of all time. She has had 28 Top 10 singles, 16 of which went to No.1 and she has received numerous accolades including five Latin Billboard awards, several Premios Juventud awards and various Latin Grammy nominations.

As an actress, Thalía has starred in a variety of telenovelas, and in the 1990s was publicly referred to as the "Queen of telenovelas". The Spanish media company Televisa called her the best-paid telenovela.

Gloria Estefan

Gloria María Milagrosa Fajardo García de Estefan (born September 1, 1957), known professionally as Gloria Estefan, is a Cuban-born American singer, songwriter, actress, and businesswoman. She started off her career as the leading vocalist in the group called "Miami Latin Boys" which was eventually known as Miami Sound Machine. Her breakthrough success with Conga in 1985 made her known worldwide. It won the grand prix in the 15th annual Tokyo Music Festival in Japan. This is also her signature song. In the summer of 1988 she and the band got their first number-one hit for the song "Anything For You". She has a Contralto vocal range.

In March 1990, she had a severe accident in her tour bus. She made her comeback in March 1991 with a new world tour and album called Into The Light. Estefan became a worldwide inspiration after that. Her 1993 Spanish-language album Mi Tierra won the first of her three Grammy Awards for Best Tropical Latin Album. It was the first number-one album on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart, established when it was released. It was also the first Diamond album in Spain. Many of her songs like "Rhythm Is Gonna Get You", "1-2-3", "Get On Your Feet", "Here We Are", "Coming Out of the Dark", "Bad Boy", "Oye!", "Party Time" and a remake of Vicki Sue Robinson's "Turn the Beat Around" became international hits, with chart-topping scores. Estefan has sold an estimated 75 million records worldwide, including 31.5 million in the United States alone.

Viva! Tour

The Viva! Tour was the second concert tour by Mexican recording artist Thalía in support of her first live album Primera fila and her eleventh studio album Habítame Siempre, both of which have had a huge commercial impact in all over Latin America and the United States. It was also Thalía's first tour in nine years, following the 2004 High Voltage Tour, and it was considered as one of the most anticipated Latin tours in 2013. The tour started in Chicago, Illinois on March 24, 2013 and was planned to include concerts in all over Latin America and potentially Europe, but this was later scrapped. The tour consisted of intimate concerts in musical venues and concert halls with limited capacity, as this is the artistic concept of Thalía's most recent album releases.

Background

Ever since the release of her first live album Primera fila (2009), Thalía had expressed her desire to offer live concerts in small venues, as it was the concept of the album. Even though she tried to organize a tour, she got pregnant and as a result, she had to postpone it. After giving birth to her second child in 2011 and recording her eleventh studio album Habítame Siempre, she claimed that she was planning a tour in order to promote both Primera fila and Habítame Siempre. During her promotional visit in Mexico, some weeks after the official release of Habítame Siempre, Thalía confirmed that in 2013 she would go on tour. Furthermore, she went on to state that with her tour she would visit many countries in Latin America, apart from the United States and Mexico. She also stated that she planned to have some concerts in other European or Asian countries, in which she has a solid fan base. In almost all the interviews, Thalía expressed that she would choose to perform only in small places like theaters or bohemian bars, in order to maintain the two latest albums' concept and feel closer to her audience.

Sin Bandera

Sin Bandera (which can be interpreted as "Flagless" or "without barriers") was a Latin pop duo based in Mexico that consisted of Leonel García, and Noel Schajris. They became one of the most popular artists after their solo debut album Sin Bandera was released on July 30, 2002.

Biography

Leonel Garcia (from Mexico) had the idea to be soloist, he showed dexterity with the guitar and the voice, but his project remained frozen at the record companies; meanwhile, García wrote songs for other recognized artists from the 1990s such as Lynda Thomas. At the same time, Noel Schajris (from Argentina, now a nationalized Mexican) was preparing another solo album after making his debut in 1999. Both being musicians, composers and singers, they discovered the ideal formula to unite their talents and personalities in 2000.

There was immediate chemistry: they spoke about their favorite music, of the albums they bought, and about the singer-songwriters they were most interested in... and coincided in everything. The two wanted to sing, but Noel preferred the piano, and Leonel, the guitar, for which at no time there was collision of interests, but an integration of musical inclinations.
