Don Murray (June 7, 1904 - June 2, 1929) was an early jazz clarinet and saxophone player.
Don Murray was born in Joliet, Illinois, and attended high school in Chicago. In his teens he made a name for himself as one of the best young jazz clarinetists and saxophonists in the city. In 1923 he recorded with the New Orleans Rhythm Kings; according to Rhythm Kings leader Paul Mares, Murray was not a regular member of the band, but was a friend who sometimes sat in with them. Murray also made early recordings with Muggsy Spanier. He then joined the Detroit, Michigan based band of Jean Goldkette, with whom he remained until 1927. It was here that he mentored the young Jimmy Dorsey.
After a brief stint with Adrian Rollini's band, during which he contributed to several highly-regarded recordings by Bix Beiderbecke, Murray was hired by Ted Lewis. Ted Lewis said that Murray was the greatest clarinetist he ever had in his band—high praise indeed since Jimmy Dorsey and Benny Goodman had also been in Lewis's band. Murray can be heard in the Ted Lewis film Is Everybody Happy? (1929), which is considered a "lost film," although Vitaphone disks are available.
Don Murray died in 1929 at a Los Angeles hospital after injuries sustained in a freak automobile accident. Apparently, he was standing on the running board of a moving roadster and fell; he struck the back of his head on the pavement and was then hospitalized with serious head injury.
Donald L. Murray is buried at Memorial Park Cemetery in Skokie, IL. He was 25 at the time of his death.

Marilyn Monroe
Marilyn Monroe (born Norma Jeane Mortenson, June 1, 1926 – August 5, 1962) was an American actress and model. Famous for playing "dumb blonde" characters, she became one of the most popular sex symbols of the 1950s, emblematic of the era's attitudes towards sexuality. Although she was a top-billed actress for only a decade, her films grossed $200 million by the time of her unexpected death in 1962. She continues to be considered a major popular culture icon.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Monroe spent most of her childhood in foster homes and an orphanage and married for the first time at the age of sixteen. While working in a factory as part of the war effort in 1944, she met a photographer and began a successful pin-up modeling career. The work led to two short-lived film contracts with Twentieth Century-Fox (1946–47) and Columbia Pictures (1948). After a series of minor film roles, she signed a new contract with Fox in 1951. Over the next two years, she became a popular actress with roles in several comedies, including As Young as You Feel and Monkey Business, and in the dramas Clash by Night and Don't Bother to Knock. Monroe faced a scandal when it was revealed that she had posed for nude photos before becoming a star, but rather than damaging her career, the story increased interest in her films.

Don Murray (June 7, 1904 - June 2, 1929) was an early jazz clarinet and saxophone player.
Don Murray was born in Joliet, Illinois, and attended high school in Chicago. In his teens he made a name for himself as one of the best young jazz clarinetists and saxophonists in the city. In 1923 he recorded with the New Orleans Rhythm Kings; according to Rhythm Kings leader Paul Mares, Murray was not a regular member of the band, but was a friend who sometimes sat in with them. Murray also made early recordings with Muggsy Spanier. He then joined the Detroit, Michigan based band of Jean Goldkette, with whom he remained until 1927. It was here that he mentored the young Jimmy Dorsey.
After a brief stint with Adrian Rollini's band, during which he contributed to several highly-regarded recordings by Bix Beiderbecke, Murray was hired by Ted Lewis. Ted Lewis said that Murray was the greatest clarinetist he ever had in his band—high praise indeed since Jimmy Dorsey and Benny Goodman had also been in Lewis's band. Murray can be heard in the Ted Lewis film Is Everybody Happy? (1929), which is considered a "lost film," although Vitaphone disks are available.
Don Murray died in 1929 at a Los Angeles hospital after injuries sustained in a freak automobile accident. Apparently, he was standing on the running board of a moving roadster and fell; he struck the back of his head on the pavement and was then hospitalized with serious head injury.
Donald L. Murray is buried at Memorial Park Cemetery in Skokie, IL. He was 25 at the time of his death.

Don's Best Black Bean Chili
Here's my favorite black bean chili recipe! For over three decades I have cooked in the restaurant business professionally. During that time I have probably cooked over a hundred different types of chili! lol This chili recipe is the cumulation of all my experience and my personal favorite! Ingredients; -1 pound bag dry black beans, soaked overnight and cooked until tender -1 pound lean ground beef, chicken or turkey, cooked and fat drained -One large Vidalia onion, diced -One large sweet green bell pepper, diced -two fresh jalapeños minced -1 (28 oz. can) diced tomatoes with green chiles plus; -1 (14.5 oz. can) diced tomatoes with green chiles (or Southwestern seasoned) -1 can (15 oz.can) tomato sauce -2 tablespoons fresh chopped garlic -2 teaspoons chili powder -1/4 teaspoon cayenne pe...

Here's my favorite black bean chili recipe! For over three decades I have cooked in the restaurant business professionally. During that time I have probably cooked over a hundred different types of chili! lol This chili recipe is the cumulation of all my experience and my personal favorite!
Ingredients;
-1 pound bag dry black beans, soaked overnight and cooked until tender
-1 pound lean ground beef, chicken or turkey, cooked and fat drained
-One large Vidalia onion, diced
-One large sweet green bell pepper, diced
-two fresh jalapeños minced
-1 (28 oz. can) diced tomatoes with green chiles plus;
-1 (14.5 oz. can) diced tomatoes with green chiles (or Southwestern seasoned)
-1 can (15 oz.can) tomato sauce
-2 tablespoons fresh chopped garlic
-2 teaspoons chili powder
-1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
-1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper
-1/2 tablespoon cumin
-1 tablespoon sugar (optional)
-1 tablespoon Worchestershire sauce
-2 tablespoons hot pepper sauce (I use Texas Pete)
-Kosher salt and cracked black pepper to taste
-I serve my Black bean chili with a dollop of sour cream and shredded cheddar cheese at times!
-fresh cilantro and/or green onions to garnish
Directions; Soak 1 pound of dry black beans in 8 cups (enough to cover beans in a pot) of water overnight. Drain in colander and fill pot with 6 cups fresh water then return soaked beans back to pot and cook for one hour until tender. Cook ground beef, pour off fat and reserve. Dice onion and green pepper. Mince fresh garlic (4-5 large cloves) and jalapeños. Sauté your vegetables in 2 tablespoons olive oil until onions are translucent stirring occasionally. Add your tomato products cooked ground beef and cooked black beans to the pot. Add all of your seasonings to taste and simmer for 30 to 45 minutes. You can always add some chicken or beef stock to your chili to get right consistency if need be. My measurements on seasonings are perfect for me! If you do not like very hot chili subtract some of the Cayanne pepper, or use less jalapeño. If you like your chili REALLY hot I think you know what to do! lol This is your basic recipe. You can add or subtract peppers and/or salt to your taste! Experiment and create your own chili masterpiece! 🔥😉🔥
