Dramatic Moment a FIRE broke out at ITV Studios Good Morning Britain GMB (RAW VIDEO) Shocking moment a fire broke out at ITV studios forcing Good Morning Britain to be evacuated and taken off air. The fire began shortly after the morning news show began at 6am and the London Fire Brigade confirmed that the situation is "still ongoing". A message on the GMB Twitter account read: "We've been evacuated because of a fire alarm. Everyone's safe and we're hoping to get back in and on air ASAP." Just before 7.30am, she tweeted: "Tonnes of fire engines, fire still blazing." Brockwell reported that the fire was in a production suite. The London Fire Brigade confirmed they had sent several crews to the studios and said the situation was "still ongoing". Viewers were met with a special pre-recorded show - and later an episode of Dinner Date - after the fire broke out at the studio building in London just a minute before the show was due to go on the air. Taking to Twitter, the presenting team showed video footage of the moment they were removed from the building as the alarms rang out. Ben Shephard posted a video showing the moment with Ranvir Singh explaining: "Apparently we are being told we have to leave the building and it's not a fire drill it's real." Ben then added: "Hopefully we'll be back Britain." Regional news output was also affected by the outage. Kate Garraway explained the situation in a video taken from on the street after the evacuation. "We're all outside, the whole building has been evacuated because of a fire that I think you can see up there," she said in the video posted to Twitter. "The fire service are here now so we're not too worried but who knows when we'll actually get back on air." Her co-host Ranvir Singh added: "At the moment there's some sort of emergency programme with Ben Shephard and Susanna on which is probably confusing everyone. "We don't know what it is, do enjoy it if you're watching it on ITV this morning." GMB co-host Ben tweeted that the fire appeared to have been extinguished. He posted: "Five engines and seemingly no more smoke! Not sure if we'll make it back on air yet but hoping to." Guest Holly Brockwell, who was due to speak on GMB, tweeted a picture of smoke pouring out of the window of the studios.
