Victoria Derbyshire (born 2 October 1968) is an award-winning English journalist and broadcaster. Her new current affairs and debate programme is broadcast on BBC Two and the BBC News Channel since 2015. She presents BBC Newsnight occasionally. She formerly presented the morning news/current affairs and interview programme on BBC Radio 5 Live between 10 am and 12 noon each weekday. She was a Radio 5 Live presenter for 16 years, departing in late 2014.
Derbyshire was born in Ramsbottom, Lancashire, and attended Bury Grammar School before going on to study English language and literature at the University of Liverpool. Then she attended a post-graduate diploma course in radio and TV journalism at the then Preston Polytechnic, now the department of Journalism, Media and Communication, University of Central Lancashire.
Derbyshire worked as a reporter in local radio, joining BBC Radio 5 Live in 1998 as a co-presenter of the breakfast show with Julian Worricker. The programme won two Gold Sony Awards in 1998 and 2002. In January 2003, Worricker left the breakfast show and Derbyshire was partnered with Nicky Campbell. After maternity leave, she took over the morning news programme in August 2004.
Derbyshire (i/ˈdɑːrbᵻʃər/ or /ˈdɑːrbɪʃɪər/; abbreviated Derbys. or Derbs.) is a county in the East Midlands of England. A substantial portion of the Peak District National Park lies within Derbyshire. The southern extremity of the Pennine range of hills extends into the north of the county. The county contains part of the National Forest, and borders on Greater Manchester to the northwest, West Yorkshire to the north, South Yorkshire to the northeast, Nottinghamshire to the east, Leicestershire to the southeast, Staffordshire to the west and southwest and Cheshire also to the west.
Kinder Scout, at 636 metres (2,087 ft), is the highest point in the county, whilst Trent Meadows, where the River Trent leaves Derbyshire, is its lowest point at 27 metres (89 ft). The River Derwent is the county's longest river at 66 miles (106 km), and runs roughly north to south through the county. In 2003 the Ordnance Survey placed Church Flatts Farm at Coton in the Elms (near Swadlincote) as the furthest point from the sea in Great Britain.

UK scientists are beginning work to genetically test tumours from children with cancer. They hope this will give younger patients access to newer, more personalised medicines and further improve survival rates. The new test analyses changes in 81 different cancer genes. Scientists say it should lead to "a more level playing field", and accelerate children's access to important new drugs. Victoria Derbyshire spoke to Jack Daly who was diagnosed with a brain tumour when he was seven, his mum Helen and BBC health correspondent, Jane Dreaper.

The number of children aged 10 or younger who have been referred for NHS help with transgender feelings has more than quadrupled in the last six years. A 2012 survey of 10,000 people by the Equality and Human Rights Commission suggested that 1% of the population is transgender but the true figure could be higher as many never seek help. A panel including young transgender people, the mother of a transgender child and a child psychiatrist discusses their experiences. On the morning of 28th of September 2016, Victoria Derbyshire interviewed three junior doctors about the legal case brought by the Justice For Health team against Secretary of State for Health, Jeremy Hunt. The judgement for this case was passed last week, but was due to be announced shortly after this interview. The attempt to push this awful, unsafe, and discriminatory contract onto our wonderful junior doctors is of course just another facet in the 30 year programme to dismantle, privatise, and ultimately destroy the FINEST CREATION OF ANY NATION - Our NHS. Support your junior doctors - you never know when you might need one! Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has said it is "pretty undeniable" that Hollywood is racist. He told the BBC's Victoria Derbyshire programme the film world was seen as "very, very progressive", but was "lagging behind" industries in encouraging diversity. Radcliffe also said it was hard for gay actors to come out for fear of being typecast in gay roles. And he stated that he did not want to play Potter again "at this point". The 27-year-old British actor has starred as JK Rowling's child wizard in several films since 2001. But his latest screen role, in the thriller Imperium, is as Nate Foster, an FBI agent who goes undercover to infiltrate a white supremacist group. 'Fear and hatred' Radcliffe told Victoria Derbyshire this had led him to think more about racial issues, and to consider ...
At the behest of feminists, Nottinghamshire Police started treating misogyny as a hate crime some months ago, and the initiative is being considered for implementation by other police forces in England. Our blog post on the matter: http://tinyurl.com/misogynyhatecrime The studio discussion starts at 4:23, but we suggest it's worth watching the preceding footage to get a sense of what the BBC considers relevant background material.

To call it a hustings flatters to deceive. There was a bit too much Victoria Derbyshire and not enough discussion on Policy. What we learnt from today is that Corbyn did not recognise And & Dec and Smith makes a 'negotiate with ISIS' gaffe. At the end most of the undecided voters preferred Corbyn.
