History

The earliest known reference to walking a red carpet in literature is in the play Agamemnon by Aeschylus, written in 458 BC. When the title character returns from Troy, he is greeted by his vengeful wife Clytemnestra who offers him a red path to walk upon:

A red carpet was rolled out to a river to welcome the arrival of United States president James Monroe in 1821. In 1902, The New York Central Railroad used plush crimson carpets to direct people as they boarded their 20th Century Limited passenger train. This is believed to be the origin of the phrase "red-carpet treatment". Film premieres are often laid down with red carpets.

Madhura Sreedhar Reddy

Madhura Sreedhar Reddy (మధుర శ్రీధర్ రెడ్డి) is a software engineer turned Director and Producer. He started his film career by establishing music label Madhura Audio which eventually turned as second largest in Telugu Film Industry. He also owned one of the popular Telugu film magazines named Cinestar. He turned as a director with youthful film Sneha Geetham in 2010 and gained critical acclaim. He also received Best Debut Director for Sneha Geetham. His second directional venture It’s My Love Story did well at the box office. He continued his success by directing Backbench Student, which introduced Tamil actor Mahat Raghavendra as main lead hero.

Madhura Sreedhar Reddy was born and raised in Warangal. He is a B.Tech graduate from Regional Engineering College (REC, currently called as NIT Warangal). He completed his MS (Research) from IIT Madras and received Gold Medal for his excellency by Vice President of India. He worked in many multinational companies like TCS, Infosys and Wipro.
