Bachelorette Georgia Love has eliminated 40 per cent of the remaining bachelors in a bloodthirsty episode to rival Game of Thrones.

The television presenter kicked four men out of The Bachelorette Australia mansion on Wednesday night – a new record for the show – after it became clear several of them weren't looking for love, only fame.

Bachelorette culls four in one episode

The Bachelorette Australia's Georgia Love dismisses a record four contestants in a single episode.

Electrician Sam, "model slash entrepreneur" Rhys, security specialist Matt D, and musician Todd were all sent packing, leaving just six men in the competition.

This cull of the dull might look like a stunt, but it could be exactly what the show's producers need to rekindle the romance with viewers.

The spark has faded for The Bachelorette this time around with ratings falling by around 200,000 from Sam Frost's season last year. Last week's episode garnered just 561,000 viewers in the five mainland capitals.

On Wednesday night, Georgia decided to take both Sam and Rhys on a two-on-one date, suspecting they were on the show for the wrong reasons. After a short grilling, they confirmed her suspicions.

Unsurprisingly, she then sent both home.

On the limo ride to Luna Park, the men appeared interested only in each other. Sam wanted to know why Rhys  felt "threatened" by him, while Rhys described the date as "a battle to the death".

After a short grilling on a ferris wheel, Rhys confessed to Georgia that he wasn't interested in meeting "the one", while Sam revealed he was only on the program to raise his television profile.

Lothario Sam had sold himself to Georgia as a humble electrician but it turns out the 27-year-old has been living in America and is signed to an agency in Miami. He only returned to Australia to renew his visa.

"The plan was to head back to LA and do a bit of acting and presenting," Sam told Georgia, clearly peeved at having had his cover blown. In fact, it was Rhys who told Georgia of Sam's plan to move back overseas, suggesting Sam wasn't intendng to tell her at all.

"This experience here has let me be myself," Sam continued, "I think presenting is kind of cool, being on camera and in the media, so I was kind of heading in that direction before this, but this has given me a little kick to get there quicker."

When asked if he thought he could fall in love with her, Sam told the bachelorette, "If I left this experience without you, I wouldn't be absolutely heartbroken".

Describing the revelation as a "freight train right in the face", Georgia sent Sam packing.

"To be totally honest, I think Sam is here to get his face on TV, get more modelling work, get a presenting gig and an acting gig. Sam's not here for love," she said.

Halfway through the competition, Rhys also appeared totally  uninterested in both Love and love. The 29-year-old spent all his alone time with Georgia trying to sledge Sam rather than win her affection.

When push came to shove, Rhys revealed he wasn't looking for everlasting love either.

"I'm not ready to meet the one, because you don't know what's coming," he said, before putting the situation back on Georgia.

"I'm on a two-on-one date. that brings up a lot of things for me. If this was the outside world, I would have walked away."

Eventually, he did just that,  after Georgia told him they wouldn't fit in each other's lives and kicked him off the ferris wheel.

Those shock eliminations didn't stop the bachelorette from booting more men from the mansion at the rose ceremony. Both security specialist Matt D and musician Todd left without roses, but appeared unfazed.

"We'll push on from here," Matt said from the limo home, unperturbed.

More than halfway through the competition, it appears most of the bachelors aren't interested in Georgia at all.

With only six men left and two weeks until the finale, can the real suitors please stand up?
