In the last Make it Real video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3OiBNgJDKk, we showed you how we made this awesome electromagnet arm bracer that Captain America uses in Marvel’s Age of Ultron. Now, we test it and a replica shield from Machina Props to it’s limits.
Ever wonder what it would be like to have the power of magneto strapped to your arm combined with Captain America’s symbolic shield? We did. So we decided to find out. Catching, throwing, shielding, smashing, shooting, running through walls, punching though doors, funny cats! We do it all for your entertainment.
This is one of the best and most fun projects to date. The electromagnet arm bracer is wicked powerful. The electromagnets are available on Amazon (http://fave.co/1q68uGK). Each electromagnet is rated for 1200N (260lbs) at 12v. We have been running them at 72v for an estimated total force of 14400N (over 3000lbs). Yeah, that is enough force to rip your arm off and then sucker punch you with said severed arm. At 6x the rated current, the electromagnets over heat quickly and can only be run for short periods of time. It uses a set of lithium-polymer batteries from Hobby King (http://fave.co/1VycT2u) running in series. To holster the shield on the back of the jacket, we used to neodymium magnets from amazon (http://fave.co/1skm9Mc). These things are scary powerful but super fun to play with. If you get your own, be careful because they will crush your hand!!!

We made this awesome electromagnet arm bracer for the Replica Captain America shield, just in time for Captain America: Civil War. It uses a set of lithium-polymer batteries from Hobby King (http://fave.co/1VycT2u) running in series at 72V. This produces 720kg of magnetic force at each electromagnet. That's over 3000lbs of magnetic lifting force together!
The electromagnets are available on Amazon (http://fave.co/1qinRvO), and are rated for 12V, which produces ~120kg (1200N) of lifting force. We're running them at a much higher voltage for short periods of time to create awesome power. They will overheat if you use them for over a minute at this power level!

Welcome to the destruction of my Captain America shield. This video is dedicated to my subscribers and answers many questions about how durable my shield build is. Like I said in the first video, "it's not just a toy" BrainfooTV don't build no rubbish.
In this video you will see it jumped on, stamped on, I throw it, throw it off a hill, at walls, hit with a baseball, and baseball bat. You see it stabbed, shot with crossbows, driven over, hit with a hammer, and tortured with thermite.
I would say that constitutes a test...

Captain America
Captain America is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by cartoonists Joe Simon and Jack Kirby, the character first appeared in Captain America Comics #1 (cover dated March 1941) from Timely Comics, a predecessor of Marvel Comics. Captain America was designed as a patriotic supersoldier who often fought the Axis powers of World War II and was Timely Comics' most popular character during the wartime period. The popularity of superheroes waned following the war and the Captain America comic book was discontinued in 1950, with a short-lived revival in 1953. Since Marvel Comics revived the character in 1964, Captain America has remained in publication.
Captain America wears a costume that bears an American flag motif, and is armed with a nearly indestructible shield that he throws at foes. The character is usually depicted as the alter ego of Steve Rogers, a frail young man enhanced to the peak of human perfection by an experimental serum to aid the United States government's imminent efforts in World War II. Near the end of the war, he was trapped in ice and survived in suspended animation until he was revived in the present day. Although Captain America often struggles to maintain his ideals as a man out of his time with its modern realities, he remains a highly respected figure in his community which includes becoming the long-time leader of the Avengers.

Welcome to the destruction of my Captain America shield. This video is dedicated to my subscribers and answers many questions about how durable my shield build is. Like I said in the first video, "it's not just a toy" BrainfooTV don't build no rubbish. In this video you will see it jumped on, stamped on, I throw it, throw it off a hill, at walls, hit with a baseball, and baseball bat. You see it stabbed, shot with crossbows, driven over, hit with a hammer, and tortured with thermite. I would say that constitutes a test... Ever wonder what it would be like to have the power of magneto strapped to your arm combined with Captain America’s symbolic shield? We did. So we decided to find out. Catching, throwing, shielding, smashing, shooting, running through walls, punching though doors, funny cats! We do it all for your entertainment.
This is one of the best and most fun projects to date. The electromagnet arm bracer is wicked powerful. The electromagnets are available on Amazon (http://fave.co/1q68uGK). Each electromagnet is rated for 1200N (260lbs) at 12v. We have been running them at 72v for an estimated total force of 14400N (over 3000lbs). Yeah, that is enough force to rip your arm off and then sucker punch you with said severed arm. At 6x the rated current, the electromagnets over heat quickly and can only be run for short periods of time. It uses a set of lithium-polymer batteries from Hobby King (http://fave.co/1VycT2u) running in series. To holster the shield on the back of the jacket, we used to neodymium magnets from amazon (http://fave.co/1skm9Mc). These things are scary powerful but super fun to play with. If you get your own, be careful because they will crush your hand!!!

Welcome to the destruction of my Captain America shield. This video is dedicated to my subscribers and answers many questions about how durable my shield build is. Like I said in the first video, "it's not just a toy" BrainfooTV don't build no rubbish.
In this video you will see it jumped on, stamped on, I throw it, throw it off a hill, at walls, hit with a baseball, and baseball bat. You see it stabbed, shot with crossbows, driven over, hit with a hammer, and tortured with thermite.
I would say that constitutes a test...

Attachment Of The Star and Painting The Captain America Shield
Hey guys in this video I show how to paint the shield and cutting and attaching the star. Here is the link for the star template: http://www.therpf.com/attachments/f78/metal-movie-cap-shield-budget-done-final-pics-page-4-star1.jpg-70307d1318080871 Make sure whenever you paint to put gloves on to keep the oils from your hands getting onto the shield. I used the Scotch-brite pad a lot to remove rust and other dirt before I would paint. Take time with the star! It took me about 20-30 minutes to cut and detail it. I used a box knife and a ruler to guide the etching. To attach the star I used a thin double sided mounting tape instead of a JB weld like my previous shield since JB welds are for steel on steel and the star is aluminum. I glossed the back side of the shield to keep it from...

Hey guys in this video I show how to paint the shield and cutting and attaching the star. Here is the link for the star template:

Make sure whenever you paint to put gloves on to keep the oils
from your hands getting onto the shield. I used the Scotch-brite
pad a lot to remove rust and other dirt before I would paint. Take
time with the star! It took me about 20-30 minutes to cut and
detail it. I used a box knife and a ruler to guide the etching. To
attach the star I used a thin double sided mounting tape instead of
a JB weld like my previous shield since JB welds are for steel on
steel and the star is aluminum. I glossed the back side of the
shield to keep it from rusting.
