You will learn about "Air Pollution" in this video. Cutting of trees is one of the major reasons of air pollution. Air also gets polluted due to the smoke released by many factories and industries. Burning of wood and fossil fuels is another reason of air pollution. Also, vehicles such as cars, buses, trucks etc. give out a lot of smoke that pollutes the air. Due to air pollution, human beings suffer from a number of diseases like asthma, bronchitis, cancer, skin diseases etc.
Air pollution also affects the growth of plants and causes damage to our beautiful historical monuments. As responsible citizens, it is necessary to take up some preventive measures to reduce air pollution and its effects. We must plant more trees, avoid bursting firecrackers, make more use of public transport and ensure that regular servicing of our vehicles is done. Lastly, factories and power plants should also be set up far from residential areas, which will help in reducing air pollution.

Delhi’s pollution levels are worsening by the day but the authorities are yet to devise a comprehensive action plan to tackle the problem.
After the odd-even road rationing scheme, implemented in January and April, the Delhi government announced an array of plans to control pollution. But they are either still in the pipeline or have failed to produce the desired results.

The Indian capital, Delhi, is experiencing its most dangerous levels of air pollution in years, with schools banning outdoor playtime for children and the authorities contemplating emergency measures.
In some areas, the level of air pollution is 10 times more than the recommended safe limit.
One of the reasons is the burning of crops by hundreds of thousands of farmers in northern India, as Sanjoy Majumder reports.

Ancient cultures
Air pollution has always accompanied civilizations. Pollution started from prehistoric times when man created the first fires. According to a 1983 article in the journal Science, "soot found on ceilings of prehistoric caves provides ample evidence of the high levels of pollution that was associated with inadequate ventilation of open fires." Metal forging appears to be a key turning point in the creation of significant air pollution levels outside the home. Core samples of glaciers in Greenland indicate increases in pollution associated with Greek, Roman and Chinese metal production, but at that time the pollution was comparatively small and could be handled by nature.

In the first quarter of this year more than 90 percent of Chinese cities failed to meet the government's own air-quality standards. Air pollution contributes to 17 percent of all deaths in China. China's massive growth is costing the health of its people and environment? Pollution is an issue which the authorities would rather hide. But the problem is becoming dangerous and it can no longer be ignored.
China has been sacrificing its environment and its people to feed its ever-growing economic powerhouse. The production of computers, cars, and other goods, all at prices below anywhere else in the world, has driven the Chinese boom relentlessly on. Now though China is finally paying the price. "I think they knew it was poisonous to humans but if they used another chemical our output would not have been increased". These are the words of one worker in the computer industry who has seen her and her colleagues sacrificed to produce cheap computers for the rest of the world. However, it is not just the workers who are suffering; China's environment has been badly damaged. One community living next to an incinerator, which consumes China's growing waste, claim their community has been savaged by pollution. "No-one knows who will be the next to die." Some Chinese have been attempting to arrest damage, "I tell the bosses of some companies that you might make money as big as mountains of gold and silver, but, if all the money is made from the loss of green rivers and blue mountains your future generations will curse us, ", but is this all too little too late?

Les émanations de dioxyde d’azote, et les fumées liées aux chauffage au bois rendent certaines communes plus polluées que Paris ! Les normes européennes qui fixent les niveaux limites de pollution sont dépassés chaque année.
Certains habitants refusent de voir cette situation comme une fatalité. Simon Metral est l’un d’entre eux. Il a grandi dans la région et milite pour un air pur en faisant la guerre aux poids lourds!

An investigation conducted by the Associated Press found that the waters in Brazil’s Guanabara Bay, Copacabana Beach and Rodrigo de Freitas Lake where athletes will compete during the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games are full of human sewage and could present a serious threat to athletes’ health.
3. China’s capital city is planning ventilation corridors to tackle the country’s air pollution. Densely populated cities tend to generate more energy and waste heat. This results in a much warmer urban environment than in surrounding rural areas, according to National Geographic.
4. Air quality problems are nothing new in China, but people have come up with some interesting and unusual ways to breathe cleaner air in the midst of high levels of air pollution.
5. Some 311 million tonnes of plastic are produced each year — a number is expected to quadruple by 2050 — and a third of it ends up in the world’s oceans.

The reason was not terrorism, but air pollution ... Right now Delhi is the world’s most polluted city ... More than 300 million children live at the severest risk, Unicef declared last week, and 2 billion in areas where outdoor pollution exceeds health guidelines ... Citizens of rich countries are sometimes too relaxed about such things when air pollution afflicts the richest cities as well as the poorest ... Air pollution shames us all....
