X factor’s fourth judge: TV’s worst kept secret

The identity of the mysterious fourth judge on X Factor was arguably the worst kept secret in television right now.

Mel B was revealed as the “underdog judge” on the Channel Seven show, joining fellow judges Iggy Azalea, Guy Sebastian and Adam Lambert.

It’s a stunning return to X Factor for the former Spice Girl who had a falling out with Channel Seven after appearing as a judge on season three (2011) and season four (2012).

The TV network took Mel B to court in 2013 after she announced that she was planning to appear as a judge on Channel Nine’s Australia’s Got Talent instead of returning for another season of X Factor.

But a Supreme Court judge blocked the move after he ruled that the singer/judge had an obligation to provide her “exclusive services” to Channel Seven.

Kyle Sandilands gave it away

Rumours of Mel B’s return to X Factor Australia started flowing back in August.

They intensified last week when she started following fellow judges Adam Lambert and Guy Sebastian on Instagram.

And this morning KIIS FM star Kyle Sandilands revealed that he knows for a fact that Scary Spice is the fourth judge.

“We already know that it’s Mel B,” he said on air.

“I already know, sorry to let the cat out of the bag.”

As the ‘underdog judge,’ Mel B will have the opportunity to recruit contestants who have been cut by the other three judges.

The X Factor airs on Channel Seven tonight at 7:30pm
