Edwin Starr (January 21, 1942 – April 2, 2003) was an American soul music singer. Starr is famous for his Norman Whitfield-produced Motown singles of the 1970s, most notably the number one hit "War".
Starr was born in Tennessee and raised in Ohio, and later lived in Detroit while singing for Ric Tic and Motown Records. Besides "War", Starr's songs "25 Miles" and "Stop the War Now" were also major successes in the 1960s. Starr's career shifted to the United Kingdom in the 1970s, where he continued to produce music, living there until his death.
Starr was born Charles Edwin Hatcher in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1942. He and his cousins, soul singers Roger and Willie Hatcher, moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where they were raised.
In 1957, Starr formed a doo-wop group, the Future Tones, and began his singing career. Starr lived in Detroit, Michigan, in the 1960s and recorded at first for the small Ric-Tic label, part of the Golden World recording company, and later for Motown Records (under the Gordy Records imprint), after the latter absorbed Ric-Tic in 1968.
"What Is It" is a song recorded by American recording artists Baby Bash featuring Sean Kingston for Baby Bash's third album, Cyclone (2007). It was released on January 4, 2008 by Arista Records as the second single. It was written by Baby Bash, J.R. Rotem, Marty James and produced by J.R. Rotem and it contains a sample of "9MM Goes Bang" performed by KRS-One.
Nothing is a pronoun denoting the absence of anything. Nothing is a pronoun associated with nothingness. In nontechnical uses, nothing denotes things lacking importance, interest, value, relevance, or significance.Nothingness is the state of being nothing, the state of nonexistence of anything, or the property of having nothing.
Some would consider the study of "nothing" to be foolish, a typical response of this type is voiced by Giacomo Casanova (1725–1798) in conversation with his landlord, one Dr. Gozzi, who also happens to be a priest,
However, "nothingness" has been treated as a serious subject worthy of research for a very long time. In philosophy, to avoid linguistic traps over the meaning of "nothing", a phrase such as not-being is often employed to unambiguously make clear what is being discussed.
One of the earliest western philosophers to consider nothing as a concept was Parmenides (5th century BC) who was a Greek philosopher of the monist school. He argued that "nothing" cannot exist by the following line of reasoning: To speak of a thing, one has to speak of a thing that exists. Since we can speak of a thing in the past, it must still exist (in some sense) now and from this concludes that there is no such thing as change. As a corollary, there can be no such things as coming-into-being, passing-out-of-being, or not-being.

Original video of Edwin Starr singing his famous song: "War" [Original Music video from 1969] Originally written under the Motown label, and first performed by The Temptations, "War" was later re-released as a single with Edwin Starr as vocals. This version is considered a more emotional version and has become the most popular protest song ever. Lyrics: War, huh yeah What is it good for? Absolutely nothing, oh hoh, oh War huh yeah What is it good for? Absolutely nothing, say it again y'all War, huh good God What is it good for? Absolutely nothing, listen to me Oh, war, I despise 'Cause it means destruction of innocent lives War means tears to thousands of mothers eyes When their sons go off to fight and lose their lives I said War, huh good God y'all What is it good for? Disco song "Happy Radio" performed in Stuttgart in 2003. This track reached No. 9 in the UK but failed to as well on the US Billboard chart only reaching No. 78. Edwin Starr 'Soul Master 25 Miles' Edwin Starr Review by Bruce Eder The folks at Motown's British offices have done it again, giving us this handsomely remastered two-LPs-on-one-CD reissue of Edwin Starr's first two albums; and as much of that first album, and a big chunk of that second, were comprised of single sides going back to 1965; this is a pretty full account of Starr's career over a period of four years. The audio on Soul Master -- an album assembled principally from earlier Starr sides done for Ed Wingate's Ric-Tic Records, before Wingate was bought out by Berry Gordy, interspersed with new Motown recordings -- has been rejuvenated so that it's sharper and brighter than it's been since September 1968, when it was issued (and maybe not even then). You can practically hear the...

Across the crowded disco-room
You're amazed of dancing people
She sets a fire there all alone
Wanna get you the disco-fever
And if she raised her head her eyes caught mine
And that was all that I needed
In her eyes I saw the need for love
The warm, soft feeling
'Cause we made
Eye to eye contact
Eye to eye contact (Oh, oh, oh yeah)
Eye to eye contact (We made)
Eye to eye contact
You and me
Contact!
You were looking at me
I was looking at you
You were looking at me
Across the crowded disco-room
Oh, your eyes told me the story
My heart was beating like the drum
As I walked my way over
I never took my eyes away from yours
Not even for a moment
What I saw in your eyes made me realize
(You I wanted) Yeah, yeah, yeah!
Eye to eye contact (We made)
Eye to eye contact (Oh, oh, oh yeah)
Eye to eye contact (We made)
Eye to eye contact
You and me
I was looking at you
You were looking at me
I was looking at you
You were looking at me
Contact!
I was looking at you
You were looking at me
I was looking at you
