Federal law is the body of law created by the federal government of a country. A federal government is formed when a group of political units, such as states or provinces join together in a federation, surrendering their individual sovereignty and many powers to the central government while retaining or reserving other limited powers. As a result, two or more levels of government exist within an established geographic territory. The body of law of the common central government is the federal law.
Examples of federal governments include those of Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Malaysia, Pakistan, Republic of India, Russia, the former Soviet Union and the United States.
The United States Constitution provides for a federal government that is superior to state governments with regard to its enumerated powers. These powers include the authority to govern international affairs, interstate commerce, the currency and national defense. After the American Civil War, the Fourteenth Amendment applied the Constitution's Bill of Rights to state governments. Issues that arise under any legislation passed by Congress, an Executive Order of the President, or a decision of federal courts pursuant to the Constitution are governed by federal law.

Rep. Ken Buck questions FBI Director James Comey about his insertion of the term "willfully" into 18 U.S. Code § 1924. Comey says he "imputes" the term in line with the Department of Justice's history/tradition of enforcing the statute. The above clip is taken from the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee's hearing regarding Hillary Clinton's criminal email conduct.

However, in a 2005 case the Supreme Court held that federal law enforcement officials may prosecute medical marijuana patients, even if they reside in a state where medical marijuana use is protected under state law.

September 27, 2016 Louisiana State Attorney General throws the Department of Justice "under the bus" and blows the whistle on unlawful practices regarding "Sanctuary Cities" and illegal immigration. New Orleans, LA Police are NOT ALLOWED by policy to ask about IMMIGRATION STATUS of those that are arrested, nor can they make inquiry as to the status of a person's citizenship status as a pre-emptive measure before a violent crime has been committed. This is a failure of the Federal Government's primary responsibility to ensure sovereignty and protection of its citizens from inherent threats. Immigration and Border Security Subcommittee Chairman Gowdy and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Goodlatte issued the statement below in advance of this hearing: “It is outrageous that the Justice...

Immigration and Border Security Subcommittee Chairman Gowdy and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Goodlatte issued the statement below in advance of this hearing. “It is outrageous that the Justice Department would seek a consent decree with the New Orleans Police Department to actually inhibit the ability of the federal government to enforce federal law. By hindering federal immigration officers’ ability to apprehend criminal aliens, the Justice Department consciously disregards the safety and security of the American public by enabling the release of these criminals back into our communities to commit more crimes. “Next week, the Immigration and Border Security Subcommittee will examine DOJ’s role in coercing the New Orleans Police Department to adopt dangerous sanctuary policies a...
Read your free e-book: http://hotaudiobook.com/mebk/50/en/B00MVAXLPS/book Well, I want to talk about this for a moment. Is there anything we can know about the return of the Lord Jesus Christ? Can we know, for example, when Jesus is going to return? If you had asked me that question 30 years ago, I would have said, "no, absolutely not! There is not one thing you can ever know about the Second Coming of Jesus Christ." But after over 25 years of intensive study of Bible prophecy, I've come to a different conclusion. When people ask me now, "can we know when Jesus will return?" my answer is, "yes and No." No, we cannot know the date. Yes, we can know the season.love, stephanie diane curry.

Presented on March 6, 1992 Vine Deloria, Jr., Professor, University of Colorado at Boulder "Two recent Supreme Court decisions have created a crisis in religious freedom for Native Americans. These cases held that the first amendment does not protect tribal religious practices and referred the issue of protecting Native worship to Congress. In the view of many legal experts, the court's exclusion of traditional Indian worship from the first amendment also seriously weakened religious liberty for all Americans. Proposed amendments to the American Indian Freedom of Religion Act (AIRFA) passed in 1978, would greatly strengthen protections for Native American religious practices. This week Native American religious and political leaders gather in Portland to testify at the hearing of th...

Arlinda Locklear (Lumbee) has a particularly distinguished career in federal Indian law. During her thirty five years' experience in the field, Locklear has represented tribes throughout ...
