Cops in Visakhapatnam donate blood to save Naxals

VISAKHAPATNAM: In a rare gesture, two cops from the anti-Naxal wing donated blood on Saturday to save the lives of two Maoists, who suffered bullet injuries during a gunfight at Pedapadu in GK Veedhi mandal, a few days ago.
Gemmeli Narsing and Muvvala Ambri were arrested after an exchange of fire somewhere between Pedapadu and Cheepurugondi forests. Both the Naxals were given first aid at GK Veedhi following which the doctors referred them to King George Hospital. According to sources, doctors at KGH informed policemen, who had been attending to the Maoists that they needed blood.
After the cops donated blood, chief surgeon Dr Syam Prasad performed an operation on the injured. Visakha Rural SP Rahuldev Sharma appreciated the security personnel for extending help to the two.
