The Ties That Bind (The Vampire Diaries)

"The Ties That Bind" is the twelfth episode of the third season of The CW television series, The Vampire Diaries and the 56th episode of the series overall. It originally aired on January 19, 2012. The episode was written by Brian Young and directed by John Dahl.

Plot

Bonnie (Kat Graham) has a new dream where she sees herself ready to open the fourth coffin of Klaus’ family but Klaus (Joseph Morgan) stops her the last moment and locks her inside of it. A woman comes and opens it and Bonnie recognizes her mother, Abby (Persia White). She talks to Elena (Nina Dobrev) about it and tells her that the witches are trying to send her a message and that her mother can help them open the coffin. Bonnie and Elena start searching for Abby and when they find her, they drive at her place to meet her. Stefan (Paul Wesley) calls Elena asking her if they found Abby but Elena lies to him so he will not follow them. Stefan knows that Elena is lying and gets on his way to Abby’s house as well. In the meantime, a hybrid appears at Abby’s house.

The Ties That Bind by Jude Watson is the fourteenth in a series of young reader novels called Jedi Apprentice. The series explores the adventures of Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi prior to Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace.

Plot

Qui-Gon Jinn and his ally Tahl must go to New Apsolon to investigate a murder that can destroy the peace between the planet's upper and lower classes. Although he feels left out, Qui-Gon's apprentice, Obi-Wan Kenobi, also joins the group. The Jedi investigate, although they receive few leads. During the mission, Qui-Gon and Tahl pledge their love for each other.

However, Tahl is soon captured by the rogue faction that Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan were searching for. It is also learned that one of the heirs to the planet is in league with this faction. However, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan are quickly focused on rescuing Tahl before she is killed.

The film received mostly positive reviews from critics, especially for its acting and directing. Nollywood Reinvented gave it a 79% rating and wrote on the transition of the script "It is one thing to write a story, Any story… anyone can do it… once upon a time… and that is the end of my story. But it’s a whole other ball game to construct a story in which every little detail ties together. A story like this is a story in which the characters need not tell us what to feel, you feel it regardless. The story is really sad, and just when you think it can’t possibly get any sadder. It does! It’s an incredibly easy and quick watch… ".

The series stars Kelli Williams as experienced police officer Allison McLean who balances life with her job, husband Matt (Jonathan Scarfe), and teenager children Jeff (Mitchell Kummen) and Rachel (Natasha Calis). Allison's life changes when her brother Tim (Luke Perry) is arrested and sent to prison. She takes in his teenage children—her niece and nephew Cameron (Rhys Matthew Bond) and Mariah (Matreya Scarrwener). Allison and her family must adjust to their new situation and band together.

Private Practice is an American medical drama series created by Shonda Rhimes and produced and broadcast by ABC. The series is a spin-off from Rhimes' other series, Grey's Anatomy.
