Intervention (international law)

Intervention, in terms of international law, is the term for the use of force by one country or sovereign state in the internal or external affairs of another. In most cases, intervention is considered to be an unlawful act but some interventions may be considered lawful.

Definitions

L. F. L. Oppenheim defines intervention as a forcible or dictorial interference by a State in the affairs of another State calculated to impose certain conduct or consequences on that other State.

Intervention by invitation or on request

When a State interferes in the political affairs of another State by invitation, or on request, it can not be considered as an unlawful act. Interference of a State can never be unlawful if it is for the sake of humanity. It is necessary that the two States agree on the matter of intervention through a treaty. A request for assistance is not an unlawful act.

Intervention can be done by various means, e.g. military, subversive, economic, or diplomatic.

Rescue (Silverstein album)

Rescue is the fifth studio album by the Canadian post-hardcore band Silverstein. It was released on 26 April 2011, the first full length album to be released through Hopeless Records.

Recording

Rescue was produced by Jordan Valeriote and mixed by Cameron Webb.

Music and lyrics

The material on Rescue was described by Told as "a cross between Discovering and Shipwreck".

Rescue contains two songs from the band's previously released EP album Transitions.

Release and reception

A music video has already been released for the song "Sacrifice". On February 5, 2011 the band played a free show in Toronto, with Robby Starbuck filming the event for a music video for the song "The Artist", released on March 28. Frontman, Shane Told revealed that a video will also be released for the song "Burning Hearts". Told also announced that there will be a 7" vinyl release for "The Artist" on their Record Store Day and it will have 3 exclusive covers as B-sides along with there being an iTunes exclusive track for the album as well.

Intervention (TV series)

Intervention is an Emmy Award–winning American television series dealing with the struggles faced by many different kinds of addicts.

Each episode follows one or two participants, each of whom has a substance dependence or other type of severe addiction. The subjects believe they are being filmed for a documentary on their problem, but their situations are actually being documented in anticipation of an intervention by family and/or friends. During the intervention, each participant is given an ultimatum: go into rehabilitation immediately, or risk losing contact, income, or other privileges from the loved ones who instigated the intervention. Often, other tactics are used to persuade the addicted person into treatment, which vary depending on the situation; some of these include threats to invoke outstanding arrest warrants, applying for custody of the addict's children, foreclosing on the addict's property, and break-up of marriages or other relationships. The producers usually follow up months later to monitor the addicted person's progress and film it for "follow-up" episodes of the series or for shorter "web updates" available on the show's website.

Doctors is a British medical soap opera which first broadcast in the United Kingdom on BBC One on 26 March 2000. Set in the fictional Midlands town of Letherbridge, defined as being in the city of Birmingham, the soap follows the staff of a doctor's surgery, and their families.

History

Doctors is produced by BBC Birmingham and is screened on BBC One, with the first episode broadcast on 26 March 2000. It was created by Chris Murray, with Mal Young developing it and Carson Black the original producer. The show has been shown at lunchtime since its inception, originally at 12.30pm as a lead-in to the BBC's One O'Clock News. After it was temporarily moved to allow for extended news coverage of the 11 September 2001 attacks, its regular slot changed to 2:10 pm, following directly after Neighbours, after ratings rose to a 25% audience share. When the BBC lost Neighbours to Channel 5 in January 2008, it moved into the Australian soap's old slot of 1:45pm. For a brief trial period in Summer 2000, selected episodes from the first series were shown on Fridays at 7 pm and from 16 February 2009, the show began transmitting in high definition on BBC HD at 4:00pm the same day.

Series 8 of the long-running medical soap opera Doctors commenced on 24 April 2006. This series consisted of 185 episodes and concluded on 13 April 2007.
