Sweetheart relationship between Triple P Parenting and the journal Prevention Science? http://wp.me/p3oY2E-bkXV0 via @CoyneoftheRealm
.@TransformDrugs Pointless only if you think history is unimportant. Unraveling drug war discourse requires honesty about how it started.
.@TransformDrugs Drug war we have now is a product of Reagan, not Nixon: http://www.samefacts.com/2011/07/drug-policy/fun-facts-dept-nixon-reagan-and-the-drug-war/ … & federalized law enforc far predates Nixon.
.@TransformDrugs Expanded mand mins by slashing marijuana possession from 2-10 yrs to 1 yr? Expanded budgets by diverting ppl to treatment?
Would you look at that: @TransformDrugs incorrectly allows Nixon to take the fall for the War on Drugs. http://www.samefacts.com/2011/06/drug-policy/who-started-the-war-on-drugs/ …

But European evidence on #domesticabuse is woefully scant. Eg, see http://ijo.sagepub.com/content/57/10/1189.abstract … & http://ijo.sagepub.com/content/57/10/1206.abstract … @mfharris1 @Society_EBP
A great book. Correctly diagnoses just about every problem of the American CJS in one fell swoop. http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1540-5893.2012.00498.x/abstract … @StudyPrison
Contrary perspectives are appropriate in a guest lecture series. Less so if speaker is being formally lauded by the college. @charlesmurray
Grad speakers receive an honorary degree, which is a form of institutional endorsement; they're unlike guest lecture series. @charlesmurray
Am I missing something, or are the words 'theoretically informed' supposed to be kind of a given in research? http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1359178914000408 …
.@saramayeux I know, right? CrimLaw NEVER prepares you for trial practice. So misleading. Gotta take CrimPro to learn that, for Pete's sake.
.@chrisuggen My guess: Disenfranchisement is clearest example of jurisprudence of degradation, which is necessary for #massincarceration.
.@chrisuggen So what explains the persistence of unilaterally vilified jurisprudence? It must serve an important but embarrassing function.
No, #drugs are not more available in #prison than outside in the community. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2014/05/13/ron-paul-thinks-drug-use-is-rampant-inside-prisons-hes-wrong/ … Says @KeithNHumphreys
A lot of sociology & Law for the Am Bar Foundation and Northwestern U. A little politics, jazz , and sports for fun. Let's go.
Climenko Fellow @Harvard_Law; former police officer & investigator. Teaches criminal law & procedure, writes on the regulation of police. All views are mine.
.@AlexStevensKent Hugely important; thanks. I especially valued Madrazo Lajous' chapter, looking afield at wider discourse of drug policy.
@KoehlerJA Tbf, much of the discussion at #LSEDrugPolicy was about influence of culture, values and power assymetry.
E.g., See this by Laqueur, @StephenRushin & @MassIncarcerati on discourse rather than technics of War on Drugs: http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=2379519 …
The 'War on Drugs' won't be affected by the pronouncements of Nobel economists. More going on here than just science. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/05/06/end-drug-war_n_5275078.html …
