Liberman is the fifth studio album by American singer-songwriter Vanessa Carlton, released on October 23, 2015, through Dine Alone Records. It is the follow up to Carlton's 2011 album Rabbits on the Run and marks her first release since signing with Dine Alone Records. The title of the album comes from an oil painting made by Carlton's late grandfather, whose given surname was Liberman.
Following the 2011 release Rabbits on the Run, Carlton took time off to get married, start a family and write another album. She tells CBS News that these changes in her life are reflected in Liberman's songs and that she "wanted the whole album to feel like an escape type of album, where you put it on and you feel like you're in this dreamy state."
To avoid preconceived notions, demos recorded were sent to Dine Alone Records without Carlton's name attached. Label president Joel Carriere recalls hearing the demos and tells The Toronto Star, "The songs were amazing, it was atmospheric, it kind of fit into what we’re all into ... and we never would have guessed it was Vanessa Carlton because her voice has developed so much since her pop songs 14 years ago and the songwriting had obviously changed. We were, like: 'Yeah, we want to do this. But what is it we’re doing?'"
Ascension is a 2014 Canadian/American science fiction mystery drama television miniseries which aired on CBC in Canada and Syfy in USA. It takes place aboard a generation ship, and consists of six 43 minute episodes. The show was created by Philip Levens and Adrian A. Cruz. The pilot was written and executive produced by Philip Levens, who served as the showrunner. On July 9, 2014, CBC added Ascension to its fall programming roster. It was originally scheduled to premiere in November 2014. In October 2014, CBC announced that the premiere date had been moved to January 2015. It started airing on CBC on Monday nights starting February 9, 2015. Syfy had originally announced plans to debut the show on November 24, 2014, airing one episode per week for six weeks. Instead the series premiered on December 15, 2014, and aired two episodes each night for three consecutive nights.
Ascension is inspired by the real-life Project Orion that existed under the administration of President John F. Kennedy. The show sets up an alternate version of reality beginning in 1963, when President Kennedy and the U.S. government, fearing the Cold War will escalate and lead to the destruction of Earth, decides to launch a covert space mission. They send 600 volunteers, including men, women and children, aboard the USS Ascension, a massive, self-sustaining generation ship, on what should be a century-long voyage. Their mission is to colonize a planet orbiting Proxima Centauri, assuring the survival of the human race. At 51 years into their 100-year journey (i.e. in the present) and as they approach the point of no return, the mysterious murder of a young woman – the first homicide since their departure – causes the ship's crew to question the true nature of their mission.
Ascension is the seventh studio album by Japanese R&B singer Misia, released on February 7, 2007. It is her first album in over two years and last to be released under the Avex subsidiary Rhythmedia Tribe. The album was later re-released under BMG Japan.
The album is certified Gold for shipment of 100,000 copies.
Cold-blooded is an informal term for one or more of a group of characteristics that determine an animal's thermophysiology. These include:
"Cold blooded" and "Coldblooded" may also refer to:
"Coldblooded" is a song written and recorded by James Brown. It was released in 1974 as the B-side of "Funky President (People It's Bad)" and charted #99 Pop. It also appeared on the album Hell. Writing in Rolling Stone, Robert Palmer praised the song as a "sure-fire disco [smash], the kind of no-nonsense party music one expects from Soul Brother Number One."
Divine grace is a theological term present in many religions. It has been defined as the divine influence which operates in humans to regenerate and sanctify, to inspire virtuous impulses, and to impart strength to endure trial and resist temptation; and as an individual virtue or excellence of divine origin.
Grace in Christianity is the free and unmerited favour of God as manifested in the salvation of sinners and the bestowing of blessings. Common Christian teaching is that grace is unmerited mercy (favor) that God gave to humanity by sending his son to die on a cross, thus delivering eternal salvation. Bill Gothard, an American conservative Christian, has suggested "God's grace gives us the desire and the power to do his will."
Within Christianity, there are differing concepts of how grace is attained. In particular, Catholics and Reformed Protestants understand the attainment of grace in substantially different ways. It has been described as "the watershed that divides Catholicism from Protestantism, Calvinism from Arminianism, modern liberalism from conservatism". Catholic doctrine teaches that God has imparted Divine Grace upon humanity, and uses the vehicle of sacraments, carried out in faith, as a primary and effective means to facilitate the reception of his grace. For Catholics, sacraments (carried out in faith) are the incarnational or tangible vehicle through which God's grace becomes personally and existentially received. Reformed Protestants, generally, do not share this sacramental view on the transmittal of grace, but instead favor a less institutionalized mechanism. For example, in the Catholic Church, the primary initiation into a state of grace is granted by God through baptism (in faith) instead of by a simple prayer of faith (sinner's prayer); although, Catholics would not deny the possible efficacy of even a simple prayer for God's grace to flow (Baptism by desire).
Grace is the only complete studio album by Jeff Buckley, released on August 23, 1994. While the album initially had poor sales, peaking at number 149 in the U.S., and received mixed reviews, it gradually acquired critical acclaim and commercial success and, as of 2007, had sold over 2 million copies worldwide. An extended version of the album (subtitled "Legacy Edition") celebrating its tenth anniversary was released on August 23, 2004, and it peaked at No. 44 in the UK.
Grace re-entered the albums chart in Australia at number 44 for the week of January 29 – February 5, 2007 – 13 years after its original release date. It is currently certified 6x Platinum in Australia.
Jeff's version of "Corpus Christi Carol" was based on a version by Janet Baker. A childhood friend introduced him to the song, and Buckley sang a version on the album as a way of thanking him.
Grace has been highly rated in magazines such as Q, in which readers voted Grace the 75th greatest album of all time in 1998; the same vote was taken again in 2005 and Grace then ranked 13th. In 2003, the album was ranked number 303 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. In 2006, Mojo named Grace the No. 1 Modern Rock Classic of all Time. It was also rated as Australia's second favourite album on My Favourite Album, a television special aired by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation on December 3, 2006. In 2003, Buckley's version of "Hallelujah" was ranked No. 259 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 greatest songs of all time.VH1 also rated the album No. 73 on its "100 Greatest Albums of Rock & Roll" show/list.David Bowie considered Grace to be the best album ever made, and had said it would be one of his ten "Desert Island Records."

Open your eyes and receive the coldness of my embrace
Abandon all hope and fill your soul with ashes
Behold the hunger of the void as it unfolds
It's running blaze in hideous magnificence
The wounds already open
So let the gate unclose
Bring forth the unworthy sanctum
From the respiring stone
Fists against the stone
Sword against the wind
A flickering light
Drowning in the dark
Poison for the sick
Vinegar for the thirsty ones
A putrid kiss in coldblooded grace
I have foreseen when you were blind
I shall become whe you shall fade
I'll walk the ruins of your destiny
In the twilight of your death
I hold the key to the inescapable gift
Fists against the stone
Sword against the wind
A flickering light
Drowning in the dark
Poison for the sick
Vinegar for the thirsty ones
