Odong Island (오동도) earned its name because the shape of the island looks like an Odong tree leave, and also the island was covered with Odong trees. It's rocky coasts has cliffs here and there. You can also see many sea caves and arches around the coast. You have to walk about 15 minutes along the breakwater to get to the island. The road is selected as the 100 best beautiful roads in Korea. You can also take Dongbaek Train(동백열차) to get to the Odong Island. The Dongbaek Train has been carrying visitors since 1996. It can accommodate 108 passengers at the same time, and runs 1,200m along the breakwater for the convenience of visitors. There is also a lighthouse on the top of the Odong Island. It's 25m tall and they have displayed data and materials about the lighthouse and sea. There is no admission fee, so feel free to go up to the observatory and enjoy the view of the sea.

Yeosu
Yeosu (Yeosu-si) is a city located in the Southern coast of Korea in South Jeolla Province, South Korea and comprises the Old Yeosu City, founded in 1949, Yeocheon City, founded in 1986, and Yeocheon County which were merged into the current Yeosu city in 1998.
Characteristics
The city of Yeosu consists of the Yeosu peninsula as well as 317 islands (49 inhabited, 268 uninhabited). Being midway along southern coast of South Korea, it is flanked by Namhae County in South Gyeongsang Province to the east with natural waterway, and the Bay of Suncheon to the west and northwest, the city of Suncheon sprawling along its banks. The city has three different City Halls. On 1 April 1998, the cities of Yeosu and Yeocheon, along with Yeocheon County merged to form the unified city of Yeosu.
Thanks to the sea wind and warm current, Yeosu has cool summers and mild winters. Its ocean climate also brings Yeosu relatively longer springs and autumns than other regions. Yeosu is a city of history and loyalty where the headquarters of South Jeolla Province Navy Base was located, and the Great Admiral Yi Sun Shin improved upon the Geobukseon (turtle ship) to save the country while serving as the Navy Commander.

Odong Island (오동도) earned its name because the shape of the island looks like an Odong tree leave, and also the island was covered with Odong trees. It's rocky coasts has cliffs here and there. You can also see many sea caves and arches around the coast. You have to walk about 15 minutes along the breakwater to get to the island. The road is selected as the 100 best beautiful roads in Korea. You can also take Dongbaek Train(동백열차) to get to the Odong Island. The Dongbaek Train has been carrying visitors since 1996. It can accommodate 108 passengers at the same time, and runs 1,200m along the breakwater for the convenience of visitors. There is also a lighthouse on the top of the Odong Island. It's 25m tall and they have displayed data and materials about the lighthouse and sea. There is no admission fee, so feel free to go up to the observatory and enjoy the view of the sea. -

Back in March, I visited the coastal city of Yeosu! Although we only stayed for the weekend, we were able to visit a couple tourist spots. Yeosu is a popular summer travel destination. If you want to enjoy the small city when it's a little less crowded, I suggest going in March or early spring to avoid the large crowds and tourist. I've listed all the attractions and places we visited below. All are a within walking distance from each other, which makes it convenient and cost effective for all budget conscious travellers.
