To answer some questions I've been getting:
-The film is all in slow motion, not as a stylistic choice, but in reference to the quote at the beginning of the film
-The film was made for a recession-busting £800 ($1,200) which, minute-for-minute, is a 100th the budget of a TV soap opera
-It was shot on the Phantom Gold HD camera, a Sony HD Pro cam, and an iPhone 4
-It used frame rates of 400, 800 and 1,000 frames per second. The actual action of the story in real life would be 30 seconds long.
-Was shot in a studio in Manchester, England.

Independent film
An independent film or indie film is a film production resulting in a feature film that is produced mostly or completely outside of the major film studio system, in addition to being produced and distributed by independent entertainment agencies.
Independent films are sometimes distinguishable by their content and style and the way in which the filmmakers' personal artistic vision is realized. Usually, but not always, independent films are made with considerably lower budgets than major studio movies.
Generally, the marketing of independent films is characterized by limited release, but can also have major marketing campaigns and a wide release. Independent films are often screened at local, national, or international film festivals before distribution (theatrical or retail release). An independent film production can rival a mainstream film production if it has the necessary funding and distribution.
History
Edison Trust
In 1908, the Motion Picture Patents Company or "Edison Trust" was formed as a trust. The Trust was a cartel that held a monopoly on film production and distribution comprising all the major film companies of the time (Edison, Biograph, Vitagraph, Essanay, Selig, Lubin, Kalem, American Star, American Pathé), the leading distributor (George Kleine) and the biggest supplier of raw film, Eastman Kodak. A number of filmmakers declined to join or were refused into the trust and came to be described as "independent".

To answer some questions I've been getting: -The film is all in slow motion, not as a stylistic choice, but in reference to the quote at the beginning of the film -The film was made for a recession-busting £800 ($1,200) which, minute-for-minute, is a 100th the budget of a TV soap opera -It was shot on the Phantom Gold HD camera, a Sony HD Pro cam, and an iPhone 4 -It used frame rates of 400, 800 and 1,000 frames per second. -The film is all in slow motion, not as a stylistic choice, but in reference to the quote at the beginning of the film
-The film was made for a recession-busting £800 ($1,200) which, minute-for-minute, is a 100th the budget of a TV soap opera
-It was shot on the Phantom Gold HD camera, a Sony HD Pro cam, and an iPhone 4
-It used frame rates of 400, 800 and 1,000 frames per second. The actual action of the story in real life would be 30 seconds long.
-Was shot in a studio in Manchester, England.

In Unexpected Alliances, Young-a Park seeks to answer these questions by exploring the cultural and institutional roots of the Korean film industry's phenomenal success in the context of Korea's political transition in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The book investigates the unprecedented interplay between independent filmmakers, the state, and the mainstream film industry under the post-authoritarian administrations of Kim Dae Jung (19982003) and Roh Moo Hyun (20032008), and shows how these alliances were critical in the making of today's Korean film industry.during South Korea's post-authoritarian reform era, independent filmmakers with activist backgrounds were able to mobilize and transform themselves into important players in state cultural institutions and in negotiations with the purveyors of capital.
