On April 28, 2014, HGSE Prof. Paul Reville introduced filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan, who discussed on his work on education reform.
The Odeon in Leicester Square held an exclusive fifteen minute teaser of upcoming summer blockbuster After Earth. Hosted by Alex Zane, an excited audience then saw the ever-energetic Will Smith, Jaden Smith and M.Night Shyamalan take to the stage to talk about their new movie, sharing anecdotes and experiences they had whilst making the film, and Will and Jaden talk about their relationship on and off camera. Will describes how he had to juggle between father figure and producer of the film, making decisions such as not to let M. Night hang Jaden 400 feet off a real cliff in Costa Rica, and Jaden reports he gained 20 lbs and grew four inches whilst making the film. He also liked to make M. Night uncomfortable by texting him pictures of himself beefed up! After Earth is in cinemas 7th Jun...

M. Night Shyamalan has become an incredibly polarizing director over the course of his career. For his latest film, he’s returned to his roots with The Visit, a small-scale thriller about a couple of kids who go to spend time with their estranged grandparents while their mother is away on vacation. It will be interesting to see the reaction to this one, and I was eager to speak with Shyamalan after I caught the film at Comic-Con. During our conversation, we talked about his decision to make The Visit as a found-footage movie (although he doesn’t think it’s in that genre), the autobiographical aspects of the characters, becoming synonymous with twist endings, if he might ever pick up Unbreakable into a sequel or TV series, and more. A conversation with Writer/Director/Producer M Night Shyamalan.
It's been over 15 years since Haley Joel Osment uttered the iconic line "I see dead people" in M. Night Shyamalan's classic 1999 film, The Sixth Sense, and now the writer/director is back at Comic-Con promoting his latest movie, The Visit. M. Night promises us that The Visit is his scariest film yet, reveals whether he believes in ghosts, and gives us the scoop on a sequel to The Sixth Sense. The Split official movie trailer #1 reaction! M. Night is back behind the camera like he never left, or did he? We'll never know, or will we? This is already starting to sound like it was written by him, or does it? You get what we are saying though. M.
