Released back in February, Firewatch has already been a huge success – it's loved by fans and critics and has sold over a million copies. Developer Campo Santo has now announced a new partnership with a production company to turn the woodland mystery adventure into a film.
It was already a pretty cinematic game, but, done right, it could be a beautiful thing to see recreated in the real world:
According to the Hollywood Reporter, while a Firewatch film will be the first project between Campo Santo and Good Universe, the two companies plan to work together on future film and game projects, too. Apparently, Campo Santo founder Sean Vanaman was "floored" when he met Good Universe. "They recognize, cultivate and produce incredible stories. It's rare you meet another group that shares so many of your values and makes the process of creating things even more exciting. We can't wait to see what we make together."
There's no word on how long we'll have to wait to see Firewatch on the big screen.
'But, wait!' you may say. 'Julian, Firewatch is already a film' and then point me to this:
In that case, reader, I have to say, you're hilarious.
