Gaius Plinius Caecilius Secundus, born Gaius Caecilius or Gaius Caecilius Cilo (61 – c. 113), better known as Pliny the Younger (/ˈplɪni/), was a lawyer, author, and magistrate of Ancient Rome. Pliny's uncle, Pliny the Elder, helped raise and educate him. Both Pliny the Elder and Younger were witnesses to the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD, in which the former died.
Pliny wrote hundreds of letters, many of which still survive, that are of great historical value for the time period. Some are addressed to reigning emperors or to notables such as the historian Tacitus. Pliny served as an imperial magistrate under Trajan (reigned 98–117), and his letters to Trajan provide one of the few surviving records of the relationship between the imperial office and provincial governors.
Pliny was considered an honest and moderate man. He rose through a series of Imperial civil and military offices, the cursus honorum. He was a friend of the historian Tacitus and employed the biographer Suetonius on his staff. Pliny also came into contact with other well-known men of the period, including the philosophers Artemidorus and Euphrates the Stoic during his time in Syria.
*** The life and work of Pliny the Younger, famous for his letters. A prominent lawyer in Rome in the first century AD, Pliny later became governor of the province of Bithynia, on the Black Sea coast of modern Turkey. Throughout his career he was a prolific letter-writer, sharing his thoughts with great contemporaries including the historian Tacitus, and asking the advice of the Emperor Trajan. Pliny's letters offer fascinating insights into life in ancient Rome and its empire, from the mundane details of irrigation schemes to his vivid eyewitness account of the eruption of Vesuvius. *** GUESTS: Catharine Edwards Roy Gibson Alice König

Read your free e-book: http://appgame.space/mebk/50/en/B0084BQ088/book This volume examines the development, structure and role of education from the third century B.c to the time of Trajan, a period which saw great changes in Roman society. When originally published it was the first complete review of the subject for half a century and was based on a new collection and analysis of ancient source material. The book is divided into three parts. The first provides historical background, showing the effects upon the educational system of Romes transition from a predominantly agricultural community to a great metropolis; it traces the development of primary, grammar and rhetoric schools, and discusses educational standards both in early Rome and under the Empire, when advanced teaching was mor...
Pliny the Younger, the Roman governor of Bithynia et Pontus wrote a letter to Emperor Trajan around 112 AD and asked for counsel on dealing with Christians. The letter details an account of how Pliny conducted trials of suspected Christians who appeared before him as a result of anonymous accusations and asks for the Emperor's guidance on how they should be treated.Neither Pliny nor Trajan mentions the crime that Christians had committed, except for being a Christian; and other historical sources do not provide a simple answer to what that crime could be, but a likely element may be the stubborn refusal of Christians to worship Roman gods; making them appear as objecting to Roman rule.Pliny states that he gives Christians multiple chances to affirm they are innocent and if they refuse three...
This reference to Jesus in 106 AD shows that Jesus was worshipped and glorified, and that his followers died for their belief in him.
I do not know the names of the GODS' who pushed the button on the VESUVIUS erruption in 79AD. I fear them greatly & LOVE THEM DEEPLY. 79AD is when the Emperor "passed on" and huge chunks of the false PISO Bible that takes the GODs' entirely out of the bible story. So in NAPLES the fullers were running the LAUNDRY and removing stains with URINE the PISO family PISSTAKE on the "utility of Urine". That is the title of Sally Magnussons Book as the presenter of songs of praise. Stephanus is a PISO assassin and all the people portrayed except PLINY the Younger get killed by the PAGAN GOD(s). The PISO BIBLE fraud was written in the Herculaneum region THE VILLA PAPYRII. The mountain of fire is due to erupt again according to scientists like PLINY the elder (a bible author too who defined PLI...

Rome In The 1st Century - Episode 4: Years Of Eruption (ANCIENT HISTORY DOCUMENTARY) Nero’s death in 68 AD ended the Augustan dynasty and left Rome without a ruler. The empire descended into civil war as generals fought each other for the throne. Vespasian was one of Rome’s top generals and was fighting Jewish rebels in Judaea. But he realized that he had as much claim to the throne as any other general. Encouraged by his soldiers, he suspended the war and marched on Rome. Rome became a battlefield in which around 50,000 people were killed. At the end, Vespasian was emperor. But he lacked authority. He knew he needed a foreign victory to secure his throne. He turned his attention back to Judaea. By 70 AD, the last Jewish rebels had retreated to the walled city of Jerusalem. After a ...

i can no longer pretend
lonely as green eyes can get
i'm singing blues
in a room painted yellow with hope
covering plaster and bricks
yes there's no reason to cry dear
things seeming sweet in your eyes
i'm sadder for knowing how i shouldn't be
considering all of the good things around me
but love forgot me when she passed through
seems i wasn't deemed worthy
but i know she'll be around again soon
don't forget me
please don't forget me
but for you the heartache would kill me
you are the first in my heart
and i know that you know what you're doing up there
but in the meantime i'm impatient down here
'cos love forgot me when she passed through
seems i wasn't deemed worthy this early
but i know she'll be around again soon
don't forget me please don't forget
