Om Namah Shivaya (Panchakshara Mantra, five syllables) is a most potent and popular mantra, which is at the heart of the Vedas and Tantra, and is widely used in this and other variations in the Himalayan tradition, as well as by others. While there are other descriptions of the mantra, the following focuses on meanings for mantra meditation leading to Self-Realization.
OM/AUM: The three parts of Om (A-U-M) encompass the three states of waking, dreaming, deep sleep, the three levels of gross, subtle, causal, and the three levels of conscious, unconscious, subconscious, as well as the three universal processes of coming, being, and going. Absolute silence beyond the three levels is the silence after AUM. It also refers to Tripura, the one who live in the "three cities" as in Mahamrityunjaya Mantra, as well as the light referred to in Gayatri Mantra.
Namah/Namaha: Adoration, homage, respect. Nothing is mine (as an individual person); everything is thine (as the Absolute Reality). The three levels of Om, the three worlds of gross, subtle, and causal, along with the three states of waking, dreaming, and deep sleep states of consciousness, as well as the three levels of conscious, unconscious, and subconscious themselves are "not mine" as the true properties of who I really am. Truly, "nothing is mine." Rather, everything, all of these triads is "thine" or the "other" as the Absolute Reality.
Shivaya/Shiva: That Absolute Reality that is the ground out of which the others emerge. It is that "ink," so to speak, that is not separate from the many forms which may appear to manifest or be created from that ink. In the Realization of this, one comes to see that he or she is one and the same with the Absolute Reality. The Mahavakyas, the great utterances, are seen to be true. Shiva (the static or ground) and Shakti (the active or creative) are seen to be one and the same. She (Shakti), while one with Shiva is realized in direct experience as the one in the three worlds (Tripura) outlined in Om.

Om Namah Shivaya
Om Namah Shivaya (Sanskrit: ॐ नमः शिवाय; IAST: ॐ Namaḥ Śivāya) is one of the most popular Hindu mantras and the most important mantra in Shaivism.
Its translation is "adoration (namas) to Śiva", preceded by the mystical syllable "Aum". Om Namah Shivaya mantra is sung by devotees in prayers and recited by yogis in meditation. It is associated with qualities of prayer, divine-love, grace, truth and blissfulness.
Traditionally, it is accepted to be a powerful healing mantra beneficial for all physical and mental ailments. Soulful recitation of this mantra brings peace to the heart and joy to the [Ātman] or Soul. Sages consider that the recitation of these syllables is sound therapy for the body and nectar for the soul [Ātman]. The nature of the mantra is the calling upon the higher self; it is the calling upon shiva, the destroyer deity, to aid in the death (destruction of ego) and rebirth achieved during meditation. This goes generally for mantras and chants to different gods, which are different aspects of the higher self.

Shiva
Shiva (/ˈʃivə/; Sanskrit: Śiva, meaning "The Auspicious One", also known as Mahadeva ("Great God"), is one of the three major deities of Hinduism. Shiva is in the form of Vishnu and Brahma yet one with them. He is Anant, one who is neither found born nor found dead. He is the Parabrahman within Shaivism, one of the three most influential denominations in contemporary Hinduism. He is one of the five primary forms of God in the Smarta Tradition, and "the Transformer".
At the highest level, Shiva is regarded as limitless, transcendent, unchanging and formless. Shiva also has many benevolent and fearsome forms. In benevolent aspects, he is depicted as an omniscient Yogi who lives an ascetic life on Mount Kailash, as well as a householder with wife Parvati and his two children, Ganesha and Kartikeya, and in fierce aspects, he is often depicted slaying demons. Shiva is also regarded as the patron god of yoga and arts.
The main iconographical attributes of Shiva are the third eye on his forehead, the snake Vasuki around his neck, the adorning crescent moon, the holy river Ganga flowing from his matted hair, the trishula as his weapon and the damaru as his musical instrument. Shiva is usually worshiped in the aniconic form of Lingam. The worship of Shiva is a pan-Hindu tradition, practiced widely across all of India, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

VOLUME 14 Episode 67 To 71 EPISODE 67 As Rahu runs away from Mt. Kailash, Jallandhar attacks it and after defeating Veerbhadra confronts Shiva. Lakshmi is worried for her brother and asks Vishnu to destroy Vrinda's chastity so that Jallandhar's powers are reduced. Furious Shiva, meanwhile, throws Shukracharya into the sea. EPISODE 68 Shukracharya predicts the destruction of Jallandhar to Vrinda and the latter's maids take her to Mahayogi, who is none other than Vishnu in disguise. Vishnu destroys the chastity of Vrinda and she curses him that in his reincarnation as Lord Rama, he will be separated from his wife Sita. Nevertheless, Vishnu blesses Vrinda that she'd be worshipped as Tulsi. Shiva, meanwhile, kills Jallandhar and peace returns to the universe. EPISODE 69 As sage Gautam and his wife Ahilya beckon the elusive rain-gods, Narad proceeds to the Heavens and confronts Indra, Indrani and Varun Dev, as a result of which Gautam and Ahilya are blessed with a torrent and water reservoir. The local saints and their spouses aren't too pleased and they implicate the holy sage and his wife for cow slaughter and get them exiled. EPISODE 70 Narad informs Lord Shiva about the predicament of Gautam and Ahilya and consequently, Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh, Indra and other Gods bless the later. Thus, Trimbakeshwar is established. Meanwhile, in a fierce encounter, Satyarath exterminates his sworn foe Ketudhwaj, but himself gets killed at the hands of his own son Vrishdhwaj. The latter's wife dies after giving birth to a child and a dramatic turn entails as a Brahmin woman adopts the infant. EPISODE 71 Shiva, Brahma and Uma discuss about Shuchivrat and Dharmgupt on Kailash. Both Suchivrat and Dharmgupt are blesses by sage Shandilya. Vrishdhwaj, on realizing that both the boys are alive, makes an attempt to kill them but they are saved by the blessings of Shiva. When the boys grow up, with the help of Sandharv Raj Kodravin, they defeat Vrishdwaj and regain their kingdom. Diti gives birth to two boys and orders them to conquer earth. -

Om Namah Shivaya (Panchakshara Mantra, five syllables) is a most potent and popular mantra, which is at the heart of the Vedas and Tantra, and is widely used in this and other variations in the Himalayan tradition, as well as by others. While there are other descriptions of the mantra, the following focuses on meanings for mantra meditation leading to Self-Realization.
OM/AUM: The three parts of Om (A-U-M) encompass the three states of waking, dreaming, deep sleep, the three levels of gross, subtle, causal, and the three levels of conscious, unconscious, subconscious, as well as the three universal processes of coming, being, and going. Absolute silence beyond the three levels is the silence after AUM. It also refers to Tripura, the one who live in the "three cities" as in Mahamrityunjaya Mantra, as well as the light referred to in Gayatri Mantra.
Namah/Namaha: Adoration, homage, respect. Nothing is mine (as an individual person); everything is thine (as the Absolute Reality). The three levels of Om, the three worlds of gross, subtle, and causal, along with the three states of waking, dreaming, and deep sleep states of consciousness, as well as the three levels of conscious, unconscious, and subconscious themselves are "not mine" as the true properties of who I really am. Truly, "nothing is mine." Rather, everything, all of these triads is "thine" or the "other" as the Absolute Reality.
Shivaya/Shiva: That Absolute Reality that is the ground out of which the others emerge. It is that "ink," so to speak, that is not separate from the many forms which may appear to manifest or be created from that ink. In the Realization of this, one comes to see that he or she is one and the same with the Absolute Reality. The Mahavakyas, the great utterances, are seen to be true. Shiva (the static or ground) and Shakti (the active or creative) are seen to be one and the same. She (Shakti), while one with Shiva is realized in direct experience as the one in the three worlds (Tripura) outlined in Om.

As Rahu runs away from Mt. Kailash, Jallandhar attacks it and after defeating Veerbhadra confronts Shiva. Lakshmi is worried for her brother and asks Vishnu to destroy Vrinda's chastity so that Jallandhar's powers are reduced. Furious Shiva, meanwhile, throws Shukracharya into the sea.
EPISODE 68
Shukracharya predicts the destruction of Jallandhar to Vrinda and the latter's maids take her to Mahayogi, who is none other than Vishnu in disguise. Vishnu destroys the chastity of Vrinda and she curses him that in his reincarnation as Lord Rama, he will be separated from his wife Sita. Nevertheless, Vishnu blesses Vrinda that she'd be worshipped as Tulsi. Shiva, meanwhile, kills Jallandhar and peace returns to the universe.

As sage Gautam and his wife Ahilya beckon the elusive rain-gods, Narad proceeds to the Heavens and confronts Indra, Indrani and Varun Dev, as a result of which Gautam and Ahilya are blessed with a torrent and water reservoir. The local saints and their spouses aren't too pleased and they implicate the holy sage and his wife for cow slaughter and get them exiled.

Narad informs Lord Shiva about the predicament of Gautam and Ahilya and consequently, Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh, Indra and other Gods bless the later. Thus, Trimbakeshwar is established. Meanwhile, in a fierce encounter, Satyarath exterminates his sworn foe Ketudhwaj, but himself gets killed at the hands of his own son Vrishdhwaj. The latter's wife dies after giving birth to a child and a dramatic turn entails as a Brahmin woman adopts the infant.

Shiva, Brahma and Uma discuss about Shuchivrat and Dharmgupt on Kailash. Both Suchivrat and Dharmgupt are blesses by sage Shandilya. Vrishdhwaj, on realizing that both the boys are alive, makes an attempt to kill them but they are saved by the blessings of Shiva. When the boys grow up, with the help of Sandharv Raj Kodravin, they defeat Vrishdwaj and regain their kingdom. Diti gives birth to two boys and orders them to conquer earth.

While there are other descriptions of the mantra, the following focuses on meanings for mantra meditation leading to Self-Realization.
OM/AUM: The three parts of Om (A-U-M) encompass the three states of waking, dreaming, deep sleep, the three levels of gross, subtle, causal, and the three levels of conscious, unconscious, subconscious, as well as the three universal processes of coming, being, and going. Absolute silence beyond the three levels is the silence after AUM. It also refers to Tripura, the one who live in the "three cities" as in Mahamrityunjaya Mantra, as well as the light referred to in Gayatri Mantra.
Namah/Namaha: Adoration, homage, respect. Nothing is mine (as an individual person); everything is thine (as the Absolute Reality). The three levels of Om, the three worlds of gross, subtle, and causal, along with the three states of waking, dreaming, and deep sleep states of consciousness, as well as the three levels of conscious, unconscious, and subconscious themselves are "not mine" as the true properties of who I really am. Truly, "nothing is mine." Rather, everything, all of these triads is "thine" or the "other" as the Absolute Reality.
Shivaya/Shiva: That Absolute Reality that is the ground out of which the others emerge. It is that "ink," so to speak, that is not separate from the many forms which may appear to manifest or be created from that ink. In the Realization of this, one comes to see that he or she is one and the same with the Absolute Reality. The Mahavakyas, the great utterances, are seen to be true. Shiva (the static or ground) and Shakti (the active or creative) are seen to be one and the same. She (Shakti), while one with Shiva is realized in direct experience as the one in the three worlds (Tripura) outlined in Om.

As Rahu runs away from Mt. Kailash, Jallandhar attacks it and after defeating Veerbhadra confronts Shiva. Lakshmi is worried for her brother and asks Vishnu to destroy Vrinda's chastity so that Jallandhar's powers are reduced. Furious Shiva, meanwhile, throws Shukracharya into the sea.
EPISODE 68
Shukracharya predicts the destruction of Jallandhar to Vrinda and the latter's maids take her to Mahayogi, who is none other than Vishnu in disguise. Vishnu destroys the chastity of Vrinda and she curses him that in his reincarnation as Lord Rama, he will be separated from his wife Sita. Nevertheless, Vishnu blesses Vrinda that she'd be worshipped as Tulsi. Shiva, meanwhile, kills Jallandhar and peace returns to the universe.

As sage Gautam and his wife Ahilya beckon the elusive rain-gods, Narad proceeds to the Heavens and confronts Indra, Indrani and Varun Dev, as a result of which Gautam and Ahilya are blessed with a torrent and water reservoir. The local saints and their spouses aren't too pleased and they implicate the holy sage and his wife for cow slaughter and get them exiled.

Narad informs Lord Shiva about the predicament of Gautam and Ahilya and consequently, Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh, Indra and other Gods bless the later. Thus, Trimbakeshwar is established. Meanwhile, in a fierce encounter, Satyarath exterminates his sworn foe Ketudhwaj, but himself gets killed at the hands of his own son Vrishdhwaj. The latter's wife dies after giving birth to a child and a dramatic turn entails as a Brahmin woman adopts the infant.

Shiva, Brahma and Uma discuss about Shuchivrat and Dharmgupt on Kailash. Both Suchivrat and Dharmgupt are blesses by sage Shandilya. Vrishdhwaj, on realizing that both the boys are alive, makes an attempt to kill them but they are saved by the blessings of Shiva. When the boys grow up, with the help of Sandharv Raj Kodravin, they defeat Vrishdwaj and regain their kingdom. Diti gives birth to two boys and orders them to conquer earth.

Shukracharya decides to commit suicide by fire but is advised against it by Narad. He advises him to seek the blessings of Shiva. Both Shiva and Ganesha promise not to kill any demon. Satisfied Shukrac:harya, summons demon Ruru who tells him about his son Durgarn.

Shukracharya is pleased to see the huge form of Durgam. Durgam decides to do something great for demons. Narad becomes arrogant by the praise of his musical instruments. Shiva, in order to rid Narad of his arrogance, inspires him to go to Parvati. He is astonished to hear the future happenings. Shukracharya provides two extra arms to Durgamasur so that he can carry all the four Vedas.

Indra notices the two new arms of Durgam and attacks him during his sleep. Shukracharya forces Indra to flee. Vishnu, in Vaikvmth, reminds Narad of his duties. Gods are scared of the high intensity of penance by Durgam and they pray to Brahma for protection. Durgam obtains Vedas from Brahma and proceeds towards Pataal.

Durgamasur commits atrocities on imprisoned Vedas, thus creating a reign of terror in ihe worid. Bholenath advises anxious Parvati to wait till the evildoing of a person reaches to its extreme. Narad advises Gods to leave Heaven but Indra opposes the suggestion.

Durgam defeats weakened Gods and becomes the King of Heaven. Vrihaspati and Narad fail in their efforts to make the sages understand the cause of these happenings. Indra apologizes to Vrihaspali who in turn gathers all Gods to go to Kailash for destruction of Durgam.

Responding to the pleas of Gods and human beings, Parvati appears as Goddess Shakti. All living beings in the world are crying of hunger and thirst due to the Vedas being captured by Durgam. Shakti appears as Goddess Shakumbari who produces greenery all over. Shakti kills Durgamasur and Shukracharya returns the four Vedas to Brahma.

Mantras are those sounds which you hear from deep within during meditation and the aim is to bring one back to the source. During later days, people started putting faces and drawings to these mantras. Mantras have got certain vibrations/ energy. They are universal. Even in churches in Latin America ‘Marnah Nath’ is used. Its translation in Latin and Sanskrit is so close. For ‘Lord’ the word in Latin is Nath and also in Sanskrit the word Nath is used to mean ‘Lord’. So the word Marnah Nath meaning ‘My lord’ which is used in Christianity is actually a Sanskrit word. Chanting in Sanskrit is beneficial because Sanskrit is the oldest language known to mankind. It has a deep impact on the consciousness.”
