Whitechapel is a district in the East End of London, England, in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
It is located 3.4 miles (5.5 km) east of Charing Cross and roughly bounded by Middlesex Street and Mansell Street to the west, Fashion Street to the north, Cambridge Heath Road and Sidney Street to the east and The Highway to the south.
Because the area is close to the London Docklands and east of the city, it has been a popular place for immigrants and the working class. The area was the centre of the London Jewish community in the 19th and early 20th century, and the location of the infamous Whitechapel Murders believed to involve Jack the Ripper in the late 1880s. In the latter half of the 20th century, Whitechapel has become a significant settlement for the British Bangladeshi community, particularly on Whitechapel Road and Brick Lane.
Whitechapel's heart is Whitechapel High Street, extending further east as Whitechapel Road, named after a small chapel of ease dedicated to St Mary. The church's earliest known rector was Hugh de Fulbourne in 1329. Around 1338, it became the parish church of Whitechapel, called, for unknown reasons, St Mary Matfelon. The church was destroyed through enemy action in World War II and its location and graveyard is now a public garden on the south side of the road.

"Let Me Burn" from "Our Endless War". Directed by Mitch Massie. Whitechapel vocalist Phil Bozeman explains: "The basis of the video is about a man, his wife and daughter. The story depicts the degradation of the man and him going insane. He kills his wife and eventually douses himself in gasoline and begs his daughter to strike the match. But the whole point of the story is that the man has everything he wants and needs, but has no control over his mind and suffers with clinical insanity/schizophrenia and regrets everything he has done." Guitarist Alex Wade adds: "It's our first time trying a story based video versus a performance video with us playing and we're really happy with how it came out. Phil's idea for the concept of the video mixed with Mitch Massie's directing developed a very ...

Pushing their sound forward with each successive release, Mark of the Blade remains true to the band’s roots while venturing into previously unexplored territory, both sonically and lyrically. Reunited with producer Mark Lewis (The Black Dahlia Murder, Cannibal Corpse), Whitechapel has redefined who they are and what they are capable of with their new album, Mark of the Blade. Kicking off with “The Void” – which has a Slayer-esque ferocity that is perfectly suited to the band’s three-guitar attack – the songs that follow all leave a distinct impression, and by the time the rich, dark melodies on “Decennium” bring the recor...

When we arrived in Whitechapel last night, it was cold, dark, and looked a little scary, especially compared to the ultra-safe Japan. Turns out during the day it’s quite a charming neighbourhood. Though, we watched a person nearly die as she walked in front of a car. We were all at a crossing in the middle of the road, and she just stepped out, about 3m away from where I was standing. If the car did not stop, she would have been hit. It’s crazy to see that sort of stuff right in front of you. And then we went to Tesco’s, and bought a sandwich. From there we caught the London Underground District Line to Monument, to head to the London Borough Markets. This was a typical artisan market, but was obviously large in size, and I found there was some good food bargains to be had, a big punnet ...

The streets of Whitechapel and Spitalfields in the East End of London are awash with an eclectic mix of colourful and creative street art. There are places where every single square inch of a wall or a shutter has been utilised as a canvass on which artists have daubed examples of amazingly imaginative urban art. What I set out to do in this video was to capture the street art wherever it has appeared around Spitalfields and Whitechapel. As I wandered around photographing it I was struck by how fickle and time sensitive some of these pieces are. There were, for example, old instances of art that have been up there for several years now and which have started to fade and peel, adding an added artistic element as the works of art mature, then fade, then peel and then are painted over to ...

Why have a plan for humanity when you haven't done anything yourself
If I were you I'd run and hide because a beautiful darkness has arrived
The one you call father is dead and gone
I slit his throat
Resurrected him and did it again
This bitter world is in my hands
No false pretentiousness son of man will inhibit the structures I've devised
Beneath the clouded smoke beneath the acid rain
The tombs of a fallen race are revived and
Reprogrammed to hate
Reprogrammed to hate
Why have a plan for humanity when you haven't done anything yourself
If I were you I'd run and hide because a beautiful darkness has arrived
The one you call father is dead and gone
I slit his throat
Resurrected him and did it again
These drones of hell will rid the smell of putrid human failure
Man is his own worst enemy
How could you hope
How could you dream for such impossibilities
Man is his own worst enemy
What doesn't kill you makes you a victim of eternal torture
What doesn't kill you makes you a victim of infernal flames
This isn't a plea for power it's the beginning of a revolution
The revolution of extermination
The revolution of total control
I have nothing nothing to hide
I am the alpha and the omega
I have nothing nothing to hide
Imprisoned with no afterlife
Why have a plan for humanity when you haven't done anything yourself
If I were you I'd run and hide because a beautiful darkness has arrived
Why have a plan for humanity when you haven't done anything yourself
If I were you I'd run and hide
