Al-Maliki says the root cause of the creation of ISIL is extremism and racism in the region, particularly the Wahhabi ideology in Saudi Arabia.

STORYLINE:
Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki insisted on Wednesday that his country is the front line in the war on terrorism and said those behind the rampant violence are perverting the Islamic faith.
Al-Maliki made his comments to a joint meeting of the US Congress in Washington, where some lawmakers have been critical of the new Iraqi leader's position on the current conflict between Israel and Hezbollah militants.
The Prime Minister received a standing ovations after saying that Iraq was "the battle that would determine the war" against Islamic extremism.
His words echoed those of US President George W. Bush, who frequently asserts that Iraq is a central battleground against terrorism elsewhere, including on American shores, and that the country can be a bulwark for the spread of freedom in the autocratic Middle East.
Several Democrats, critical of al-Maliki, attended and participated in standing ovations as the Iraqi leader spoke.
Several other Democratic members missed the address in protest.
Al-Maliki shook hands with several members on his way out of the chamber, including Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid, who had sharply criticised the Iraqi leader on Tuesday for not condemning Hezbollah.
Despite tough rhetoric against terrorism in the Middle East, al-Maliki did not mention the Hezbollah conflict.
Al-Maliki's difference of opinion with his hosts over the two-week-old fighting had threatened to sour his visit.
European and Arab allies want a quick ceasefire to stop mounting civilian deaths in Lebanon.

Time now for a look through some of the other international headlines we're following this Tuesday morning. For that, we turn to our Eunice Kim, standing by at the NewsCenter. Good morning, Eunice. A political storm is brewing in Baghdad... Iraq's new president has named a *new prime minister to replace Nuri al-Maliki... who doesn't look ready to step aside?
That's right, Mark. The rift between Prime Minister Maliki and President Fouad Massoum came to full view on Monday with that appointment.
Here's Shin Se-min with the details.
Iraqi President Fouad Massoum has named a new prime minister to end Nuri al-Maliki's eight-year rule, but al-Maliki is refusing to go after deploying special forces on the streets of Baghdad.
Speaking on state television Monday,... Massoum said he hoped Haidar al-Abadi would succeed in forming a new government that would "protect the Iraqi people" and unify the country against the growing threat of radical Sunni militants.
But the president's public rejection of al-Maliki's bid for third term has raised the stakes in the fierce battle for political control.
Al-Ibadi now has 30-days to form a new government that can win parliamentary approval.
However, al-Maliki accused Massoum of carrying out "a coup against the constitution and the political process."
Al-Maliki's Shiite-dominated bloc won the most parliament seats in April's election.
U.S. President Barack Obama welcomed Massoum's decision.
He said it was an "important step" on a path towards a more inclusive government that will "unite Iraq's different communities."
"I urge all Iraqi political leaders to work peacefully through the political process in the days ahead. This new Iraqi leadership has a difficult task,... The United States stands ready to support a government that addresses the needs and grievances of all Iraqi people."
Meanwhile, Kurdish forces continue their battle against Islamic State militants in the north and west of Iraq with the help of American airstrikes.
U.S. aircraft on Monday hit four militant checkpoints and destroyed several of the group's vehicles near Mount Sinjar, where thousands of people of the Yazidi religious sect have taken refuge.

Nuri is a place in modern Sudan on the south (east) side of the Nile. Close to it, there are pyramids belonging to Nubian kings. Nuri is situated about 15 km north of Sanam, and 10 km from Jebel Barkal. All these remains belonged to the ancient city Napata, the first capital of the Nubian kingdom of Kush.
The earliest pyramid (Nu. 1) at Nuri belongs to king Taharqa which measures 51.75 metres square by 40 or by 50 metres high.[citation needed] His successor Tantamani was buried somewhere else, but all following Nubian kings and many of their wives till Nastasen (Nu. 15) (about 330 BC) were buried here. The pyramids at Nuri are in general smaller than the Egyptian ones and are today often heavily destroyed, but they often still contained substantial parts of the funerary equipment of the Kushite rulers who were buried here. During the Christian era, a church was erected here. The church was built of many old stones, including several stelae originally coming from the pyramids.
The pyramids were systematically excavated by George Reisner.

Saddam Hussein Abd al-Majid al-Tikriti (Arabic: صدام حسين عبد المجيد التكريتي Ṣaddām Ḥusayn ʿAbd al-Maǧīd al-Tikrītī; 28 April 1937 – 30 December 2006) was the fifth President of Iraq, serving in this capacity from 16 July 1979 until 9 April 2003. A leading member of the revolutionary Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party, and later, the Baghdad-based Ba'ath Party and its regional organisation Ba'ath Party – Iraq Region, which espoused ba'athism, a mix of Arab nationalism and Arab socialism, Saddam played a key role in the 1968 coup, later referred to as the 17 July Revolution, that brought the party to long-term power of Iraq.
As vice president under the ailing General Ahmed Hassan al-Bakr, and at a time when many groups were considered capable of overthrowing the government, Saddam created security forces through which he tightly controlled conflict between the government and the armed forces. In the early 1970s, Saddam nationalized oil and other industries. The state-owned banks were put under his control, leaving the system eventually insolvent mostly due to the Iran–Iraq War, the Gulf War, and UN sanctions. Through the 1970s, Saddam cemented his authority over the apparatuses of government as oil money helped Iraq's economy to grow at a rapid pace. Positions of power in the country were filled with Sunnis, a minority that made up only a fifth of the population.

Al-Maliki made the remark as he visited the liberated town of Amerli in northern Iraq. On Sunday, Iraqi forces reached the besieged town, where thousands of minority Shia Turkmen had been surrounded by Takfiri terrorists for two months. They broke the siege of Amerli amid US air strikes on ISIL positions. The operation began on Saturday when Iraqi government forces and Kurdish Peshmerga fighters launched an assault on the group’s positions from two fronts. Meanwhile, a Kurdish official said Peshmerga forces have retaken the northern towns of Zumar and Sulaiman Bek from the Takfiri terrorists. -

Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki insisted on Wednesday that his country is the front line in the war on terrorism and said those behind the rampant violence are perverting the Islamic faith.
Al-Maliki made his comments to a joint meeting of the US Congress in Washington, where some lawmakers have been critical of the new Iraqi leader's position on the current conflict between Israel and Hezbollah militants.
The Prime Minister received a standing ovations after saying that Iraq was "the battle that would determine the war" against Islamic extremism.
His words echoed those of US President George W. Bush, who frequently asserts that Iraq is a central battleground against terrorism elsewhere, including on American shores, and that the country can be a bulwark for the spread of freedom in the autocratic Middle East.
Several Democrats, critical of al-Maliki, attended and participated in standing ovations as the Iraqi leader spoke.
Several other Democratic members missed the address in protest.
Al-Maliki shook hands with several members on his way out of the chamber, including Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid, who had sharply criticised the Iraqi leader on Tuesday for not condemning Hezbollah.
Despite tough rhetoric against terrorism in the Middle East, al-Maliki did not mention the Hezbollah conflict.
Al-Maliki's difference of opinion with his hosts over the two-week-old fighting had threatened to sour his visit.
European and Arab allies want a quick ceasefire to stop mounting civilian deaths in Lebanon.

A political storm is brewing in Baghdad... Iraq's new president has named a *new prime minister to replace Nuri al-Maliki... who doesn't look ready to step aside?
That's right, Mark. The rift between Prime Minister Maliki and President Fouad Massoum came to full view on Monday with that appointment.
Here's Shin Se-min with the details.
Iraqi President Fouad Massoum has named a new prime minister to end Nuri al-Maliki's eight-year rule, but al-Maliki is refusing to go after deploying special forces on the streets of Baghdad.
Speaking on state television Monday,... Massoum said he hoped Haidar al-Abadi would succeed in forming a new government that would "protect the Iraqi people" and unify the country against the growing threat of radical Sunni militants.
But the president's public rejection of al-Maliki's bid for third term has raised the stakes in the fierce battle for political control.
Al-Ibadi now has 30-days to form a new government that can win parliamentary approval.
However, al-Maliki accused Massoum of carrying out "a coup against the constitution and the political process."
Al-Maliki's Shiite-dominated bloc won the most parliament seats in April's election.
U.S. President Barack Obama welcomed Massoum's decision.
He said it was an "important step" on a path towards a more inclusive government that will "unite Iraq's different communities."
"I urge all Iraqi political leaders to work peacefully through the political process in the days ahead. This new Iraqi leadership has a difficult task,... The United States stands ready to support a government that addresses the needs and grievances of all Iraqi people."
Meanwhile, Kurdish forces continue their battle against Islamic State militants in the north and west of Iraq with the help of American airstrikes.
U.S. aircraft on Monday hit four militant checkpoints and destroyed several of the group's vehicles near Mount Sinjar, where thousands of people of the Yazidi religious sect have taken refuge.

WHO IS IMAM AHMED RAZA KHAN (ALAIHIR RAHMAH)?
Imam Ahmed Raza Khan (alaihir rahmah), popularly known as "A'la Hadrat" in the Islamic world, was born on the 10th of Shawaal 1272 A.H. (14 June 1856) in Bareilly Shareef, India. His father, Moulana Naqi Ali Khan (alaihir rahmah), and illustrious grandfather, Moulana Rida Ali Khan (alaihir rahmah), were great Awliya and celebrated theologians recognized as such by academic circles of the entire sub-continent.
Imam Ahmed Raza Khan Al-Qaadiri (alaihir rahmah) received his Sanads (Certificates of Proficiency) in Fiqh, Tafseer, Usool-e-Fiqha and Sihah Sitta (Six Authentic Books of Ahadith) from the learned Ulema of his period, including learned Arab Scholars from Makkatul Mukarramah.
A'la Hadrat (alaihir rahmah) achieved the status of a versatile scholar and obtained a high distinction in over 50 branches of learning pertaining to the Ancient Sciences, Modern Sciences, Oriental learning, Islamic Jurisprudence, Tassawuf, and numerous other branches.
On his visit to Makkatul Mukarramah and Madinatul Munawwarah, Imam Ahmed Raza Al-Qaadiri (alaihir rahmah) was treated with great dignity and was conferred the title of "Imam-e-Ahle-Sunnat" by eminent Ulema. He was also hailed as the Mujaddid "Revivalist" of the Century. Deadly opposed to fanatical extremism, he expounded the pure teachings of the Ahle Sunnah Wa Jamaah. He acted as a shield against those who wanted to assault the principles of the Ahle Sunnah Wa Jamaah.
As a devout Sufi, A'la Hadrat (alaihir rahmah) was awarded the Ijaazah and Khilafat (Certificate of Spiritual Successorship) in the Qaadiriya Silsila (Order), as well as in 13 other branches of Sufism. His Sheikh-ut-Tareeqah (Spiritual Master) was the celebrated Grand Master, Sayyid Sha Ale-Rasool Ahmadi Al-Qaadiri Al Barkaati (alaihir rahmah) of Mahrerah Shareef, India.
As an author, Imam Ahmed Raza Khan Al-Qaadiri (alaihir rahmah) has left to his credit more than a
1 000 (thousand) books on 50 different subjects ranging from Tafseer, Logic, Grammar, Literature, Islamic Jurisprudence, Education, Sociology, Astronomy, Mathematics, Physics, History, Science of History, Engineering, Biographies, Philosophy, Mysticism to Persian, Arabic, Urdu and Hindi Literature.
A'la Hadrat, Imam Ahmed Raza Khan Al-Qaadiri (alaihir rahmah) left behind many students and Khulafa (Spiritual Successors) who have achieved world-wide prestige for their contributions towards Islam and some, for their exemplary missionary activities. The Imam Ahmed Raza Academy was established on the 5th of July 1986 (1406 A.H.) in South Africa with the sole purpose of uplifting the Muslim Ummah academically and spiritually. The chief founder and current President of the organisation is Sheikh Abdul Hadi Al-Qaadiri Barakaati, a graduate of the famous Islamic University, Darul Uloom Manzare Islam, Bareilly Shareef, India. He was also initiated into the Qaadiri Silsila by the celebrated scholar and saint, Mufti-e-Azam-e-Hind, Moulana Sha Mustapha Raza Khan Al-Qaadiri Noori Radawi (alaihir rahmah).

WHO IS IMAM AHMED RAZA KHAN (ALAIHIR RAHMAH)?
Imam Ahmed Raza Khan (alaihir rahmah), popularly known as "A'la Hadrat" in the Islamic world, was born on the 10th of Shawaal 1272 A.H. (14 June 1856) in Bareilly Shareef, India. His father, Moulana Naqi Ali Khan (alaihir rahmah), and illustrious grandfather, Moulana Rida Ali Khan (alaihir rahmah), were great Awliya and celebrated theologians recognized as such by academic circles of the entire sub-continent.
Imam Ahmed Raza Khan Al-Qaadiri (alaihir rahmah) received his Sanads (Certificates of Proficiency) in Fiqh, Tafseer, Usool-e-Fiqha and Sihah Sitta (Six Authentic Books of Ahadith) from the learned Ulema of his period, including learned Arab Scholars from Makkatul Mukarramah.
A'la Hadrat (alaihir rahmah) achieved the status of a versatile scholar and obtained a high distinction in over 50 branches of learning pertaining to the Ancient Sciences, Modern Sciences, Oriental learning, Islamic Jurisprudence, Tassawuf, and numerous other branches.
On his visit to Makkatul Mukarramah and Madinatul Munawwarah, Imam Ahmed Raza Al-Qaadiri (alaihir rahmah) was treated with great dignity and was conferred the title of "Imam-e-Ahle-Sunnat" by eminent Ulema. He was also hailed as the Mujaddid "Revivalist" of the Century. Deadly opposed to fanatical extremism, he expounded the pure teachings of the Ahle Sunnah Wa Jamaah. He acted as a shield against those who wanted to assault the principles of the Ahle Sunnah Wa Jamaah.
As a devout Sufi, A'la Hadrat (alaihir rahmah) was awarded the Ijaazah and Khilafat (Certificate of Spiritual Successorship) in the Qaadiriya Silsila (Order), as well as in 13 other branches of Sufism. His Sheikh-ut-Tareeqah (Spiritual Master) was the celebrated Grand Master, Sayyid Sha Ale-Rasool Ahmadi Al-Qaadiri Al Barkaati (alaihir rahmah) of Mahrerah Shareef, India.
As an author, Imam Ahmed Raza Khan Al-Qaadiri (alaihir rahmah) has left to his credit more than a
1 000 (thousand) books on 50 different subjects ranging from Tafseer, Logic, Grammar, Literature, Islamic Jurisprudence, Education, Sociology, Astronomy, Mathematics, Physics, History, Science of History, Engineering, Biographies, Philosophy, Mysticism to Persian, Arabic, Urdu and Hindi Literature.
A'la Hadrat, Imam Ahmed Raza Khan Al-Qaadiri (alaihir rahmah) left behind many students and Khulafa (Spiritual Successors) who have achieved world-wide prestige for their contributions towards Islam and some, for their exemplary missionary activities. I returned to Belize in Feb/2008 and spend the next eleven Months volunteering my human capital/experience at the Youth for the future agency, CYDP and the National Youth Cadet Corp. Despite the many challenge facing our youths, I was most inspired by the potential and determination of the youths I encountered at the various agencies in Belize. From my experience working with young people in Belize, I have concluded that a major part of our problem derived from the "adults" (old folks) who are "cemented" in their ways and essentially is an impediment to progress, change and forward thinking.
Young people can detect fairly quickly if an adults is not "real",sincere and authentic. As a result of this ability, many of our young people have erected a shield between themselves and a large segment of the adult population who work in the public sector. This psychological "gap" explain why several who "front" as gate keepers have no credibility among the youths of Belize. I salute the work of Mose Hyde and Ms Diane Finnegan, they are the exception to the prevailing mindset.

It also includes work by non-Turkish artists, including Tony Cragg, Julian Opie, and Monica Bonvicini ("Stairway to Hell"). Contemporary video works include films by Hale Tenger Canan ("Exemplary"), and Sukran Moral ("Bordello").
