The Iraq Inquiry, led by Sir John Chilcot, could hardly have been more critical of Tony Blair and the New Labour government, which led us into that calamity. Many feared it would be a whitewash but in the end, it pulled no punches. From the intelligence dossier that led to Tony Blair claiming Saddam Hussein could launch WMDs within 45 minutes to the claims that the UK and US had exhausted their diplomatic options, Chilcot eviscerated those in charge. But, of course, to those of us who marched against the war, much of what the Chilcot Inquiry told us, we already knew.

Jeremy Corbyn has apologised on behalf of the Labour Party for the "disastrous" decision to go to war in Iraq
The Labour leader was giving his second speech following the publication of the Chilcot Report into the Iraq War, which found military action was not the "last resort" at the time former Labour prime minister Tony Blair took the country to war.
Corbyn - who campaigned against the war in the run up to the invasion in 2003 - did not mention Tony Blair by name, but made reference to his note to then US President George Bush which read: "I will be with you, whatever"

Một báo cáo được chờ đợi lâu nay nói về sự dính líu của Anh trong Chiến tranh Iraq được công bố hôm 6/7. Người ta trông đợi báo cáo sẽ chỉ trích những lập luận đã dẫn đến cuộc xâm lăng cũng như sự thiếu hoạch định về cuộc chiếm đóng sau đó.
Cựu viên chức Anh John Chilcot đã chỉ đạo cuộc điều tra, trong đó bao gồm cả các cuộc điều trần công khai và việc phân tích 150.000 tài liệu mà những người phê phán cuộc chiến hy vọng sẽ quy trách nhiệm cho cựu Thủ tướng Anh Tony Blair vì đã đưa đất nước đi theo con đường sai lầm, tham gia cuộc xâm lăng của Mỹ hồi năm 2003.
Ông Chilcot nói trên BBC hôm 5/7 rằng đội điều tra của ông không phải là một tòa án hoặc bồi thẩm đoàn, song họ đã cố gắng phân tích các bằng chứng rất kỹ lưỡng. Ông cho hay:
"Ngay từ đầu chúng tôi có ý định chỉ trích các cá nhân hoặc tổ chức. Tuy nhiên tôi đã nói rõ khi bắt đầu cuộc điều tra rằng nếu chúng tôi đi thấy có các quyết định hoặc hành vi đáng bị chỉ trích, chúng tôi sẽ ngần ngại làm điều đó. Và quả thực đã có khá nhiều trường hợp mà chúng tôi sẽ làm điều đó".
Dự kiến báo cáo sẽ bao gồm cả những thư từ qua lại giữa ông Blair và cựu Tổng thống Mỹ George W. Bush. Việc đưa các tài liệu mật vào báo cáo đã phần nào làm chậm việc công bố các kết quả của cuộc điều tra đã bắt đầu cách đây 7 năm.
Ông Blair đã bác bỏ các cáo buộc cho rằng ông đã hành động không trung thực trong việc nêu ra các lý lẽ để thuyết phục về cuộc chiến đã giết chết 179 binh lính Anh.

Fallujah
Fallujah (Arabic: الفلوجة, al-Fallūjah Iraqi pronunciation: [el.fɐl.ˈluː.dʒɐ]) is a city in the Iraqi province of Al Anbar, located roughly 69 kilometers (43 mi) west of Baghdad on the Euphrates. Fallujah dates from Babylonian times and was host to important Jewish academies for many centuries.
The city grew from a small town in 1947 to a population of 326,471 inhabitants in 2010. Within Iraq, it is known as the "city of mosques" for the more than 200 mosques found in the city and the surrounding villages.
In January 2014, a variety of sources reported that the city was controlled by al-Qaeda and/or its affiliate, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS; sometimes called ISIL). On a broadcast of National Public Radio's All Things Considered, Middle East analyst Kirk Sowell stated that while ISIS was occupying parts of the city, most of the ground lost was to the tribal militias who are opposed to both the Iraqi government and al-Qaeda. Speaking on condition of anonymity at the end of May 2014, an Anbar-based Iraqi government security officer told Human Rights Watch that ISIS was in control of several neighborhoods of southeast Fallujah as well as several northern and southern satellite communities, while local militias loyal to the Anbar Military Council controlled the central and northern neighborhoods of the city; however, Human Rights Watch stated that they could not confirm these claims.

Iraq (/ɪˈræk/,

جمهورية العراق Jumhūrīyat al-‘Irāq; Kurdish: كۆماری عێراق Komar-i ‘Êraq), is a country in Western Asia. The country borders Turkey to the north, Iran to the east, Kuwait to the southeast, Saudi Arabia to the south, Jordan to the southwest, and Syria to the west. The southern part of Iraq is within the Arabian Peninsula. The capital, Baghdad, is in the centre of the country and its largest city. The largest ethnic groups in Iraq are Arabs and Kurds. Other ethnic groups include Assyrians, Turkmen, Shabakis, Yazidis, Armenians, Mandeans, Circassians, and Kawliya. Around 95% of the country's 36 million citizens are Shia or Sunni Muslims, with Christianity, Yarsan, Yezidism, and Mandeanism also present.
Iraq has a narrow section of coastline measuring 58 km (36 mi) on the northern Persian Gulf and its territory encompasses the Mesopotamian Alluvial Plain, the northwestern end of the Zagros mountain range, and the eastern part of the Syrian Desert. Two major rivers, the Tigris and Euphrates, run south through the centre of Iraq and flow into the Shatt al-Arab near the Persian Gulf. These rivers provide Iraq with significant amounts of fertile land.

Ông Chilcot nói trên BBC hôm 5/7 rằng đội điều tra của ông không phải là một tòa án hoặc bồi thẩm đoàn, song họ đã cố gắng phân tích các bằng chứng rất kỹ lưỡng. Ông cho hay:
"Ngay từ đầu chúng tôi có ý định chỉ trích các cá nhân hoặc tổ chức. Tuy nhiên tôi đã nói rõ khi bắt đầu cuộc điều tra rằng nếu chúng tôi đi thấy có các quyết định hoặc hành vi đáng bị chỉ trích, chúng tôi sẽ ngần ngại làm điều đó. Và quả thực đã có khá nhiều trường hợp mà chúng tôi sẽ làm điều đó".
Dự kiến báo cáo sẽ bao gồm cả những thư từ qua lại giữa ông Blair và cựu Tổng thống Mỹ George W. Bush. Việc đưa các tài liệu mật vào báo cáo đã phần nào làm chậm việc công bố các kết quả của cuộc điều tra đã bắt đầu cách đây 7 năm.
Ông Blair đã bác bỏ các cáo buộc cho rằng ông đã hành động không trung thực trong việc nêu ra các lý lẽ để thuyết phục về cuộc chiến đã giết chết 179 binh lính Anh.

Một báo cáo được chờ đợi lâu nay nói về sự dính líu của Anh trong Chiến tranh Iraq được công bố hôm 6/7. Người ta trông đợi báo cáo sẽ chỉ trích những lập luận đã dẫn đến cuộc xâm lăng cũng như sự thiếu hoạch định về cuộc chiếm đóng sau đó.
Cựu viên chức Anh John Chilcot đã chỉ đạo cuộc điều tra, trong đó bao gồm cả các cuộc điều trần công khai và việc phân tích 150.000 tài liệu mà những người phê phán cuộc chiến hy vọng sẽ quy trách nhiệm cho cựu Thủ tướng Anh Tony Blair vì đã đưa đất nước đi theo con đường sai lầm, tham gia cuộc xâm lăng của Mỹ hồi năm 2003.
Ông Chilcot nói trên BBC hôm 5/7 rằng đội điều tra của ông không phải là một tòa án hoặc bồi thẩm đoàn, song họ đã cố gắng phân tích các bằng chứng rất kỹ lưỡng. Ông cho hay:
"Ngay từ đầu chúng tôi có ý định chỉ trích các cá nhân hoặc tổ chức. Tuy nhiên tôi đã nói rõ khi bắt đầu cuộc điều tra rằng nếu chúng tôi đi thấy có các quyết định hoặc hành vi đáng bị chỉ trích, chúng tôi sẽ ngần ngại làm điều đó. Và quả thực đã có khá nhiều trường hợp mà chúng tôi sẽ làm điều đó".
Dự kiến báo cáo sẽ bao gồm cả những thư từ qua lại giữa ông Blair và cựu Tổng thống Mỹ George W. Bush. Việc đưa các tài liệu mật vào báo cáo đã phần nào làm chậm việc công bố các kết quả của cuộc điều tra đã bắt đầu cách đây 7 năm.
Ông Blair đã bác bỏ các cáo buộc cho rằng ông đã hành động không trung thực trong việc nêu ra các lý lẽ để thuyết phục về cuộc chiến đã giết chết 179 binh lính Anh.

US Airstrike kills over 250 ISIS Fighters near Fallujah Iraq
United States and coalition aircraft waged a series of deadly strikes against Islamic State around the city of Fallujah on Wednesday, with one official citing a preliminary estimate of at least 250 suspected fighters killed and at least 40 vehicles destroyed. If the figures are confirmed, the strikes would be among the most deadly ever against the jihadist group. 米国防総省のマシュー・アレン（Matthew Allen）報道官によると、有志連合はファルージャ南西に集結していた車両のうち推定55台、さらに同市北西で120台を破壊した。
一方、イラク統合作戦軍（Joint Operations Command）によると、同国空軍が車両96台を破壊し、「大規模な」戦闘員集団を殺害。陸軍の航空部隊も507台を破壊し、「数十人」を殺害したという。
イラク統合作戦軍はイラク軍の空爆で殺害したIS構成員の正確な数は明らかにしていないが、連合軍の爆撃では349人が死亡したとしている。

United States and coalition aircraft waged a series of deadly strikes against Islamic State around the city of Fallujah on Wednesday, with one official citing a preliminary estimate of at least 250 suspected fighters killed and at least 40 vehicles destroyed. If the figures are confirmed, the strikes would be among the most deadly ever against the jihadist group. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity to describe the operation and noted preliminary estimates can change.
The strikes, which the officials said took place south of the city, are just the latest battlefield setback suffered by Islamic State in its self-proclaimed “caliphate” of Iraq and Syria.
