The Conservation Fund is an American environmental non-profit with a dual charter to pursue environmental preservation and economic development. Since its founding in 1985, the organization has protected more than 7 million acres of land and water in all 50 states, including parks, historic battlefields, and wild areas. The Fund works with community and government leaders, businesses, landowners, conservation nonprofits and other partners to create innovative solutions that integrate economic and environmental objectives. The Fund also works with communities to strategically plan development and green space and offer training in conservation and the sustainable use of natural resources.
The Conservation Fund was founded in 1985 by Pat Noonan, former head of the Nature Conservancy. The current CEO is Larry Selzer. About 140 full-time staff work in the Fund's headquarters, located in Arlington, Virginia and in offices in several states across the U.S. including California, Florida, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Oregon, Texas and Wyoming.

Conservation and working forests can go hand-in-hand when it comes to protecting jobs, wildlife and habitat while providing clean air, water and beautiful places to enjoy. The Conservation Fund’s Brule-St. Croix Legacy Forest in northwest Wisconsin is a great example. This protected place is 67,285 acres of working forest that provides more than a thousand Wisconsin jobs and brings in $34.1 million through employment, timber sales, and taxes each year. To top it off, the Forest provides critical habitat for several threatened and endangered species while area residents enjoy hiking, fishing, hunting, camping and tons of other activities on the land.
For nearly 30 years, The Conservation Fund has been saving special places across America. We have protected 7 million acres of land and water in all 50 states, from the park down the street to historic battlefields, wild areas and favorite destinations of all kinds. Working with community, government and business partners, we strive to balance economic and environmental goals. The Conservation Fund ranks among the top 1% of charities nationwide. - See more at: http://www.conservationfund.org/#sthash.PcHWYnym.dpuf

In West Virginia, one in five children doesn't have reliable access to sufficient food, especially healthy food, due to limited financial resources, lack of transportation, and other factors. CSX and The Conservation Fund are working to address these issues and improve access to fresh produce for youth in the state through a voucher program. It provides access to fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as increased funding for healthy food distribution, for 5,000 children and families living below the poverty line in five of W.V.'s lowest income counties: Calhoun, McDowell, Mingo, Roane, and Wirt. The Land & Water Conservation Fund was created in 1965 to protect the nation's land and heritage for use by all Americans and has preserved more than 5 million acres. If Congress doesn't renew the fund, it will rob local communities of future conservation, historic preservation and recreation opportunities.

America’s cities represent a unique opportunity for The Conservation Fund to provide our full suite of conservation services: land loans, real estate expertise, green infrastructure planning, community development, green business lending and job creation. It is this integration of services that makes The Conservation Fund an ideal partner for helping solve the complex problems facing urban landscapes.
