Man climbs down from Mooloolaba roof after allegedly escaping from courthouse

A man who allegedly escaped from Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday afternoon has ended his stand-off with police.

Police successfully negotiated with the man, who came down from the First Avenue roof in Mooloolaba about 8pm.

Officers responded to reports a man had escaped custody about 2.30pm and he was located on top of the roof about 4pm.

It is understood he was unarmed and a police spokesman said there was no threat to surrounding residents.
