Woman allegedly kidnapped, hit with baseball bat by former partner

A woman was allegedly attacked with a baseball bat by her ex-partner before he tried to kidnap her in the NSW town of Wagga Wagga.

About 6pm on Saturday, a 26-year-old man allegedly hit the woman, also 26, with a bat before forcing her into a car with him.

Police allege he then drove around the area, refusing to release her and hitting her again with the bat.

She was released at a home in Glenfield Park, where she called police.

They arrested the man and charged him with eight assault and intimidation and kidnapping offences.

The woman was treated at Wagga Wagga Hospital for facial injuries and bruising.

He was refused bail, and it due in Wagga Wagga Court on Monday. Police have applied for an urgent provisional AVO.
