Another one of Sydney’s cultural melting pots, with nearly 70 per cent of residents born overseas, this suburb is well located for commuters, placed a 15-minute drive or train commute from Parramatta and a 40-minute train commute to the city.

The state government has set a target of 24,000 additional dwellings in Fairfield City by 2031 and council has identified areas within Fairfield where upzoning may take place to allow for high density development close to the station, town centre and parkland.

The suburb is home to the 17-hectare Fairfield Park which includes a tennis complex and a fitness and leisure centre, and there is a good selection of schools including Patrician Brothers’ College, one of the state’s top-ranking Catholic high schools.

Prices start at $230,000 for older-style apartments and from $300,000 for new apartments. Weatherboard and fibro dominate the house listings, with prices ranging from $400,000 up to $800,000. Around half the 17,000-strong population rents, making the suburb a great option for investors.
