ICUJP has been working tirelessly for more than 14 years since 9/11 to uphold our mission that RELIGIOUS COMMUNITIES MUST STOP BLESSING WAR AND VIOLENCE.
In just the last few months, we have highlighted some excellent models of how people of faith are working to bring peace.
- We held a Justice Luncheon featuring the Rev. Nadim Nassar, a priest from Syria and the director of the Awareness Foundation, who spoke passionately about “The Path to Peace and Reconciliation in Lebanon and Syria.”
- More recently, we hosted a Justice Luncheon that addressed "Should Peace-Loving People Ever Support Military Intervention?" With a distinguished interfaith panel, each speaker provided a different perspective on religious approaches to solving serious conflicts.
In addition, we have continued our advocacy with public officials, making numerous visits to our congressional representatives to advocate for policies that focus on diplomacy and nonviolence rather than military engagement as a way to promote justice and stability. Our efforts helped lead to the approval of the historic Iran nuclear agreement.
Our Friday Forums have continued to educate and provide a place for the serious work of advocacy. A few of our speakers include:

But there is so much more to do. We are experiencing a severe crisis over immigration, refugees and hateful xenophobia. We are on the verge of a World War over Syria. Religious communities must live up to the value that all human beings, regardless of religion or nationality, deserve a chance for life. We need to help promote this ideal in our communities and with our legislators.
