El saldo: seis muertos, 94 heridos y 21 detenidos. Además, la Policía Federal confirmó el uso de armas de fuego.
Regeneración, 20 de junio 2016.- Maestro, aguanta, el pueblo se levanta, fue el grito que se escuchó repetidamente en Asunción Nochixtlán, San Pablo Huitzo y en la capital del estado, donde pobladores de varias localidades acudieron al llamado de auxilio de los profesores de la sección 22 de la Coordinadora Nacional de los Trabajadores de la Educación (CNTE), grito de socorro que ni los disparos efectuados por elementos policiacos pudieron acallar.
Desde temprana hora, policías estatales y federales se dirigieron a Asunción Nochixtlán, municipio ubicado a una hora de la ciudad de Oaxaca, con el objetivo de desalojar el bloqueo que los profesores mantenían en la autopista Oaxaca-México, pero los manifestantes se retiraron, lo que desconcertó a los uniformados.
Minutos después los maestros regresaron, y alrededor de las 10:30 horas comenzó una refriega, en la que hubo disparos de arma de fuego de manera intermitente y en la que los docentes lograron replegar hasta en tres ocasiones a los agentes. El enfrentamiento se prolongó hasta después de las 15 horas.
Los gendarmes se parapetaron en una vulcanizadora para accionar sus pistolas y rifles de asalto; aunque cayeron heridas varias personas, los docentes y pobladores que los apoyaban no cedieron un ápice de terreno a los uniformados.
Los gendarmes se mantuvieron formando una línea en el acceso principal de Nochixtlán portando escudos antimotín. Mandos policiacos aseguraron que profesores y padres de familia les estaban disparando con rifles de asalto AK-47.
Por su parte, los mentores y sus simpatizantes denunciaron la existencia de un grupo de infiltrados, quienes habrían disparado. Un taxista que se sumó a la resistencia de los maestros aseguró: Si nosotros les dispararamos, ¿creen que mantendrían formada a su gente con simples escudos? ¿De verdad expondrían a sus elementos a que les disparáramos y sólo se protegieran con escudos?.

Oaxaca
Oaxaca (English /wəˈhɑːkə/ wə-HAH-kə, Spanish: [waˈxaka], from Nahuatl: Huāxyacac [waːʃ.ˈjá.kak]), officially Free and Sovereign State of Oaxaca (Spanish: Estado Libre y Soberano de Oaxaca), is one of the 31 states which, along with the Federal District, make up the 32 federative entities of Mexico. It is divided into 570 municipalities, of which 418 (almost three quarters) are governed by the system of Usos y costumbres (customs and traditions) with recognized local forms of self governance. Its capital city is Oaxaca de Juárez.
Oaxaca is located in Southwestern Mexico. It is bordered by the states of Guerrero to the west, Puebla to the northwest, Veracruz to the north, Chiapas to the east. To the south, Oaxaca has a significant coastline on the Pacific Ocean.
The state is best known for its indigenous peoples and cultures. The most numerous and best known are the Zapotecs and the Mixtecs, but there are sixteen that are officially recognized. These cultures have survived better than most others in Mexico due to the state's rugged and isolating terrain. Most live in the Central Valleys region, which is also an important area for tourism, attracting people for its archeological sites such as Monte Albán, native culture and crafts. Another important tourist area is the coast, which has the major resort of Huatulco. Oaxaca is also one of the most biologically diverse states in Mexico, ranking in the top three, along with Chiapas and Veracruz, for numbers of reptiles, amphibians, mammals and plants.

Regeneración, 20 de junio 2016.- Maestro, aguanta, el pueblo se levanta, fue el grito que se escuchó repetidamente en Asunción Nochixtlán, San Pablo Huitzo y en la capital del estado, donde pobladores de varias localidades acudieron al llamado de auxilio de los profesores de la sección 22 de la Coordinadora Nacional de los Trabajadores de la Educación (CNTE), grito de socorro que ni los disparos efectuados por elementos policiacos pudieron acallar.
Desde temprana hora, policías estatales y federales se dirigieron a Asunción Nochixtlán, municipio ubicado a una hora de la ciudad de Oaxaca, con el objetivo de desalojar el bloqueo que los profesores mantenían en la autopista Oaxaca-México, pero los manifestantes se retiraron, lo que desconcertó a los uniformados.
Minutos después los maestros regresaron, y alrededor de las 10:30 horas comenzó una refriega, en la que hubo disparos de arma de fuego de manera intermitente y en la que los docentes lograron replegar hasta en tres ocasiones a los agentes. El enfrentamiento se prolongó hasta después de las 15 horas.
Los gendarmes se parapetaron en una vulcanizadora para accionar sus pistolas y rifles de asalto; aunque cayeron heridas varias personas, los docentes y pobladores que los apoyaban no cedieron un ápice de terreno a los uniformados.
Los gendarmes se mantuvieron formando una línea en el acceso principal de Nochixtlán portando escudos antimotín. Mandos policiacos aseguraron que profesores y padres de familia les estaban disparando con rifles de asalto AK-47.
Por su parte, los mentores y sus simpatizantes denunciaron la existencia de un grupo de infiltrados, quienes habrían disparado. Un taxista que se sumó a la resistencia de los maestros aseguró: Si nosotros les dispararamos, ¿creen que mantendrían formada a su gente con simples escudos? ¿De verdad expondrían a sus elementos a que les disparáramos y sólo se protegieran con escudos?.

On the southernmost Pacific coast of Mexico is the state of Oaxaca.
It's the center of commerce for the 16 Indian cultures that live in the surrounding hills.
Here as nowhere else history tradition and prehispanic culture all blend with the excitement of the contemporary world.
Oaxacans are so proud of their capital that they've designated the entire city of Oaxaca a national historic monument. No new building is permitted within 5 kilometers of the city center.
Each day the local indians gather at Oaxaca's shady central plaza to display their handicrafts. The plaza is one of the most beautiful in all of Mexico
and provides an inviting spot for leisurely relaxation
or perhaps for a shoe-shine and a morning cup of coffee. Its colonial charm and streetside cafes are reminiscent of the older sections of a fine European town.
A few blocks from the plaza is the church of Santo Domingo - its modest exterior gives way to a gilded, highly ornamented interior.
At the highest point of the ceiling hundreds of angel faces converge where God's eye can watch over them and the world.
The old convent next door to the church of Santo Domingo has been converted into the Oaxacan regional museum. It houses a collection which includes
finely wrought Mixtec jewelry. and unusual artifacts. These pieces are just part of the treasure that is one the largest ever found in the Americas.

Zaachila is famous for its Thursday open air markets which spreads over much of the center of town and has been a tradition since pre-Hispanic times. Zaachila market in Oaxaca, Mexico offers a vast array of different food products ingenious to the region.
Try the tejateras a popular Zapotec power drink, served in the traditional red painted jicaras. A few blocks west of the center of town there is considerable activity in the Baratillo animal market. Seeds are sold on the east side of the city hall (palacio municipal). In the zocalo and near the church vendors sell handicrafts from nearby villages.
The Alarii Market is on the east side of the zócalo. There are about one hundred stands, most serving either bread and chocolate or a variety of fresh meat.
Zaachila is home to a mostly unexplored archeological site and is known for a dance called the Danza de los Zancudos, or Dance of the Stilts. The official name is Villa de Zaachila (Town of Zaachila). The name Zaachila is from the Zapotec language and means "large leaf of the purslane (Portulaca oleracea).
