Marine Attack Squadron 214 (VMA-214) merupakan salah satu skuadron marin Amerika Syarikat yang terlibat dalam peperangan Perang Dunia II. The Fighting Lady is a military documentary film produced by the U.S. Navy and narrated by Lt. Robert Taylor USNR.
The plot of the film revolves around the life of seamen on board an anonymous aircraft carrier. Because of war time restrictions, the name of the aircraft carrier was disguised as "the Fighting Lady", although she was later identified as USS Yorktown. A few shots of aircraft landing were filmed aboard the Yorktown's sister ship USS Ticonderoga.
Frequently mentioned is the adage that war is 99% waiting. The first half or so of the film is taken up with examining the mundane details of life on board the aircraft carrier as she sails through the Panama Canal and into the Pacific Ocean, finally seeing action at Marcus Island (attacked in 1943). The film provides aerial views of a series of airstrikes at Japanese bases in the Pacific theatre.
Following an attack on Kwajalein in early 1944, intelligence reports that an armada of Japanese ships is massing near Truk, a major Japanese logistical base in the Carolines. The Fighting Lady and some of her task force are sent on a "hit and run" mission to neutralize it and return to Marcus, but not to attempt a landing.
Once the ship returns from the massive, two-day Truk raid, it is then sent to the waters off the Marianas and participates in the famous "Marianas Turkey Shoot".
At the very end some of the servicemen who appeared in the film are reintroduced to us, and the narrator informs us that they have died in battle.
The film uses of Technicolor footage shot by "gun cameras" mounted directly on aircraft guns during combat. This gives a very realistic edge to the film, while the chronological following of the ship and crew mirror the experiences of the seamen who went from green recruits through the rigours of military life, battle, and, for some, death.
In his autobiography Baa Baa Black Sheep, U.S. Marine Corps ace pilot Gregory "Pappy" Boyington claims that the film briefly shows the small pit in which he and five other prisoners of war took cover during the Truk raid. Boyington had been captured by the Japanese and was being transported to a prison camp on the Truk islands when the raid began. Boyington writes that the prisoners, tied and blindfolded, were thrown from their transport plane during a hurried landing, and that one of their Japanese captors saved their lives by throwing them into the pit, where they survived without harm. According to Boyington, the film also shows a crater from a two-thousand pound bomb that landed just fifteen feet from the pit.
Due to her fighting heritage, and to honor all carrier sailors and airmen, the Yorktown is on permanent display at Patriots Point in Charleston, SC.
Alfred Newman's musical theme was reused in Hell and High Water and in many 20th Century Fox film trailers.

"A big, tough, shipboard fighter." The Vought F4U Corsair fighter was the plane flown by Pappy Boyington's infamous "Black Sheep" VMF-214 Marine squadron. Initially rejected by they US Navy as a carrier fighter, it was loved by island based Marine squadrons who found it to be both an excellent air superiority fighter and outstanding ground support bomber, a trait much prized by the Corps. Then the Royal Navy figured out how to land it on their carriers and the US Navy soon followed suit. Faster than the F6F Hellcat, it was known to Japanese pilots as "Whistling Death" for good reason. The F4U had an amazing 11-1 kill ratio in the Pacific theater. The Corsair went on to perform with distinction throughout the Korean War and for the French in Indochina.

I based it off of the intro to the TV show "Baa Baa Black Sheep" which was about a group of fighter pilots in World War II who were washouts and misfits. I believe Aaron Allston was inspired by the story of the Black Sheep (though I can't say for certain that's true but the story is very similar) when he made Wraith Squadron. Enjoy! Baa Baa Black Sheep (later syndicated as Black Sheep Squadron) is a period military television series that aired on NBC from 1976 until 1978. Its premise was based on the experiences of United States Marine Corps aviator Greg Boyington and his World War II "Black Sheep Squadron". The series was created and produced by Stephen J. Cannell. The opening credits read: "In World War II, Marine Corps Major Greg 'Pappy' Boyington commanded a squadron of fighter pilots. They were a collection of misfits and screwballs who became the terrors of the South Pacific. They were known as the Black Sheep."
Plot
Greg "Pappy" Boyington is the commanding officer of VMF-214, a group of fighter pilots based in the Solomon Islands during World War II. Pappy often intercedes in altercations at the base, but everyone seems to pull together when they are assigned missions in the air. "Pappy" likes to drink and fight a lot when not flying missions, and owns a Bull Terrier named "Meatball" — which he claims belongs to General Moore in Flying Misfits, but General Moore says "he wouldn't own an ugly mutt like that."

The Fighting Lady (1944) - WWII Documentary
The Fighting Lady is a military documentary film produced by the U.S. Navy and narrated by Lt. Robert Taylor USNR. The plot of the film revolves around the life of seamen on board an anonymous aircraft carrier. Because of war time restrictions, the name of the aircraft carrier was disguised as "the Fighting Lady", although she was later identified as USS Yorktown. A few shots of aircraft landing were filmed aboard the Yorktown's sister ship USS Ticonderoga. Frequently mentioned is the adage that war is 99% waiting. The first half or so of the film is taken up with examining the mundane details of life on board the aircraft carrier as she sails through the Panama Canal and into the Pacific Ocean, finally seeing action at Marcus Island (attacked in 1943). Star Wars: Wraith Squadron TV Intro (Baa Baa Black Sheep Version)
Originally uploaded on my former account EditingJediKnight. If Wraith Squadron was made into a TV series, this is what I would picture as the intro. I based it off of the intro to the TV show "Baa Baa Black Sheep" which was about a group of fighter pilots in World War II who were washouts and misfits. I believe Aaron Allston was inspired by the story of the Black Sheep (though I can't say for certain that's true but the story is very similar) when he made Wraith Squadron. Enjoy! This is a promotional interview clip for the NBC TV series BAA BAA BLACK SHEEP. This interview was originally broadcast on THE TODAY SHOW on September 21, 1976, the same day that the series premiered. The series was based on the adventures and exploits of real-life WW 2 pilot Greg "Pappy" Boyington, who led a squadron of USMC aviators known as "The Black Sheep" in the South Pacific fighting against the Japanese. The plot of the film revolves around the life of seamen on board an anonymous aircraft carrier. Because of war time restrictions, the name of the aircraft carrier was disguised as "the Fighting Lady", although she was later identified as USS Yorktown. A few shots of aircraft landing were filmed aboard the Yorktown's sister ship USS Ticonderoga.
Frequently mentioned is the adage that war is 99% waiting. The first half or so of the film is taken up with examining the mundane details of life on board the aircraft carrier as she sails through the Panama Canal and into the Pacific Ocean, finally seeing action at Marcus Island (attacked in 1943). The film provides aerial views of a series of airstrikes at Japanese bases in the Pacific theatre.
Following an attack on Kwajalein in early 1944, intelligence reports that an armada of Japanese ships is massing near Truk, a major Japanese logistical base in the Carolines. The Fighting Lady and some of her task force are sent on a "hit and run" mission to neutralize it and return to Marcus, but not to attempt a landing.
Once the ship returns from the massive, two-day Truk raid, it is then sent to the waters off the Marianas and participates in the famous "Marianas Turkey Shoot".
At the very end some of the servicemen who appeared in the film are reintroduced to us, and the narrator informs us that they have died in battle.
The film uses of Technicolor footage shot by "gun cameras" mounted directly on aircraft guns during combat. This gives a very realistic edge to the film, while the chronological following of the ship and crew mirror the experiences of the seamen who went from green recruits through the rigours of military life, battle, and, for some, death.
In his autobiography Baa Baa Black Sheep, U.S. Marine Corps ace pilot Gregory "Pappy" Boyington claims that the film briefly shows the small pit in which he and five other prisoners of war took cover during the Truk raid. Boyington had been captured by the Japanese and was being transported to a prison camp on the Truk islands when the raid began. Boyington writes that the prisoners, tied and blindfolded, were thrown from their transport plane during a hurried landing, and that one of their Japanese captors saved their lives by throwing them into the pit, where they survived without harm. According to Boyington, the film also shows a crater from a two-thousand pound bomb that landed just fifteen feet from the pit.
Due to her fighting heritage, and to honor all carrier sailors and airmen, the Yorktown is on permanent display at Patriots Point in Charleston, SC.
Alfred Newman's musical theme was reused in Hell and High Water and in many 20th Century Fox film trailers.

tinyschool.tv is a YouTube channel aiming to teach toddlers and babies the alphabet, numbers, words, singing and other useful things while having fun at the same time. We do this by using 3d animated videos that children enjoy together with nursery rhymes and other educational methods.
We hope that parents feel that their kids are not only passing time when watching tinyschool.tv, but also learning important things that they will be able to use in their everyday lives.
Tinyschool was started by a father on his parental leave, but tinyschool has now grown into the company Velvio, where our goal is to service as many children as possible with access to online tools of education. We aim to keep improving the quality of the videos and to also develop other internet tools to help the learning of our children.
