"Sometime around 2.10 a.m. as the Titanic began settling more quickly into the icy North Altantic, the sounds of ragtime, familiar dance tunes and popular waltzes that had floated reassuringly across her decks suddenly stopped as Bandmaster Wallace Hartley tapped his bow against his violin. Hartley and his musicians, all wearing their lifebelts now, were standing back at the base of the second funnel, on the roof of the First Class Lounge, where they had been playing for the better part of an hour. There were a few moments of silence, then the solemn strains of the hymn "Nearer My God to Thee" began drifting across the water. It was with a perhaps unintended irony that Hartley chose a hymn that pleaded for the mercy of the Almighty, as the ultimate material conceit of the Edwardian Age, the ship that "God Himself couldn't sink," foundered beneath his feet. As the band played, the slant of the deck grew steeper, while from within the hull came a rapidly increasing number of thuds, bangs and crashes as interior furnishings broke loose, walls and partitions collapsed--the Titanic was only moments from breaking apart."

On April 15, 2016, The Duttons were privileged to perform "Nearer, My God, to Thee” in the exhibit room with Wallace Hartley’s magnificent violin display in commemoration of the sinking of the R.M.S. Titanic on April 15, 1912.
Wallace H. Hartley, at 33 years old, perished in the sinking of the R.M.S. Titanic on April 15, 1912.
Though the final song played by the band is unknown, legend has it to be "Nearer, My God, to Thee.” It was one of Wallace’s favorite hymns.
Wallace Hartley’s body was pulled from the sea ten days after the sinking.
The prized violin his fiancée had given him was protectively encased in his leather satchel and strapped to his chest.
The Duttons & Branson Titanic Museum Attraction team up to commemorate Wallace Hartley's bitter-sweet story of dedication, love, and courage.

It was issued on Victor 4818.
Richard Jose recorded for the Victor Talking Machine Company exclusively and was popular during that company's early Monarch-Deluxe and Grand Prize periods.
Victor recorded nothing from Jose after 1906. In that year he suffered an accident on stage that led to his decline, a stage curtain falling on Jose with enough force to cause severe head injuries.
But several Jose selections remained in the Victor catalog until 1919, including "Silver Threads Among the Gold," closely identified with Jose. One Jose disc remained in the catalog as late as 1922: "Abide With Me," recorded on February 23, 1906 (Victor 16660).
Jose's voice was extraordinarily rare--and beautiful! He chose material perfectly suited for his unique vocal delivery, mostly sentimental ballads and hymns.
He was a countertenor when that term was unknown to Americans--except in association with Richard Jose.
A countertenor's sound is closest to that of the female contralto (or counter-alto--"alto" means "high").
Whereas countertenors today rely on falsetto, Jose--along with Will Oakland, a younger recording artist following in Jose's footsteps--achieved an unusually high range without reliance on falsetto, using full lung power. Jose could color the tone of the voice in a way that is difficult for anyone using falsetto. No singer relying on falsetto could have produced the volume needed to fill concert halls, as Jose did for decades.
He was born in England in the Cornish village Lanner. His birth certificate establishes that Jose was born on June 5, 1862, though sources give later dates due to Jose wanting to seem younger (the singer's 1941 death certificate cites 1872, off by ten years).
Jose's baptismal record is dated September 17, 1862, and gives the surname as "Joce." This is a phonetic spelling and indicates how Jose is pronounced in Cornwall, where it is a fairly common name.
Jose toured extensively, appearing on stages throughout America until his singing career was over by 1915 or so. Jose lived at 795 Sutter St. in San Francisco for the last decades of his life until his death at age 79 on October 20, 1941. He had no children. He is buried in Colma, California.

Nearer, My God, to Thee
"Nearer, My God, to Thee" is a 19th-century Christian hymn by Sarah Flower Adams, based loosely on Genesis 28:11–19, the story of Jacob's dream. Genesis 28:11–12 can be translated as follows: "So he came to a certain place and stayed there all night, because the sun had set. And he took one of the stones of that place and put it at his head, and he lay down in that place to sleep. Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it..."
The hymn is well known, among other uses, as the alleged last song the band on RMS Titanic played before the ship sank.

Text and music
The verse was written by the English poet and Unitarian hymn writer Sarah Flower Adams (1805–48) at her home in Sunnybank, Loughton, Essex, England, in 1841. It was first set to music by Adams's sister, the composer Eliza Flower, for William Johnson Fox's collection Hymns and Anthems.

This 01:40:15 Presentation compiles 460 HD Images freely downloadable from the Inter-Net. These were obtained, in the highest resolution available, primarily from Sites such as Wallpaperswide.com - Flickr.com - Redorbit.com - Artleo.com, and to a much lesser extent some HD Images were gotten from other I-Net Sites.
Two Photographers whose works feature more prominently are:
Mr. Trey Ratcliff (Various Subjects) -- images mainly downloaded from his own Web Site Stuckincustoms.com, and
Mr. Tanaka_Juuyoh (Japanese Content) -- images exclusively obtained from Flickr.com.
The same consideration applies to the various Praise Songs and Hymns that comprise this project`s Soundtrack. Each has been authored and is played by other artists. All are copyrighted and in the ownership of others.
I aknowledge, and am grateful to every Author, performing Musician and Owner of each respective Image, and every corresponding piece of Music used on this presentation. All due Credit should be given Them, for their unwitting and exceptional contribution, which may easily be evidenced through their artistic creations.
Technical Note: In order to utilize these Images in adherence to the desired Panning effect inherent in this Production, ALL Images had to be cropped at; TOP, BOTTOM or TOP & BOTTOM. To fill completely the viewing area on a 16:09 Monitor or TV Screen, they were cropped from their various Original Aspect Ratios to a point that would make the new Image`s height roughly two thirds of the 16:09 Aspect Ratio height.
